There is an interesting thread out there about the Top Ten. It's not the first speculation thread, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

It's going to be interesting though to see how things shake out vs how people currently think they are going to happen. After all, real life happens - and the game itself happens. There is still plenty of time to go, and plenty of game to play. Anyone counting a victory, or defeat now might want to stop for a moment to consider that.

We've crossed the halfway threshhold of votes, barely. Which means that almost anything can still happen. I don't *expect* the top portion to be in danger of elimination, but their positions are changing, and that bottom portion is spreading out into the middle, meaning that there is a fair chance of some surprises. I think most any result is going to be a bit of a surprise, just because everyone has lasted to this point which makes saying goodbye just that much more difficult.


Speaking of surprises - if you have socks on, you might as well take them off now. Or at least secure them so you don't lose them. Details on that soon.

The Free Topic is out there for folks who want to write/read some great new stuff. Again, this would be a really good idea for people from the Home Game who might want to get noticed and/or people who think that they might be on the cusp of elimination this round. If you think "maybe my entry this week wasn't as good as it could have been", then having another entry out there in people's faces as they are voting might not be the worst idea I've ever heard!

I'm most certainly not counting victory OR defeat. I'm just happy and grateful I've made it this far. My goal was top 100 and I've passed that by a couple weeks now, so I'm very content. :)

I visited the speculation thread and left some thoughts along the lines of agreeing with someone else, but that RL and the Game could easily knock people out earlier. I do think it's interesting to speculate, but I think I'd be more interested in ideal top tens than predicted top tens (more people might get some love that way!)

Starting to feel a little nervous about the polls since I'm a middle-ground-level-results contestant in the polls, if the bottom people are coming up to the middle...

I'm temporarily home in between interviews. Drove up to UVA yesterday, and need to head up to Raleigh in a bit to catch a plane to Philly for the next round. I am getting very sick of travel.

Also, I'm going to throttle my girlfriend. But that's another story entirely.

I submitted my list before I went to bed last night, and am anxiously awaiting the poll results. I'd chew my nails but I never got into that habit... maybe I'll nibble a few pretzel sticks instead, LOL.

I'm not on anyone's top 10/15 list, but that's okay as I didn't really expect to be - there are WAY too many strong writers out there. If I can make it into the top 25, I'll be one happy camper!

My boss is off until Monday - his wife's dad passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Sadly, my boss and his wife are expecting their first child sometime within the next month... *is sad*

Reminds me of a dark time in our lives. I miscarried and the next day my father-in-law died, and then a month or two later, his eldest granddaughter miscarried her first child (and she was in her 20s, my husband and I have an agegap so his oldest niece is a year younger than me, it's complicated)

Lots of sad family members here for a few months.

I hope your poor boss's wife can cope in time:( Would be so sad:( I know she was imagining putting her first child in her dad's arms...

Good Morning All... it's expected to a chilly day today, so I'm wearing *thick* socks. I'll have to staple them on so they stay on my feet when Gary lowers the boom.

It's almost Friday! Wooo Hoooo! Last night was (finally) our season opener and we started our title defense with a win! Yay! Though... FYI... even when you're frustrated with yourself for striking out, it's not advisable to clock yourself over the head with a bat... just sayin'...

What I continue to find the most interesting thing about the predictions is the degree of animosity people adhere to. I just can't imagine, nor can I relate to, getting myself so worked up over an internet game. Unpopular opinion or not, whinging over who wins this thing isn't even close to being on my radar. The fact that it seems so personal to some people bothers me. =\

Today is my last day of vacation! I have to take an airplane back to New York and then tomorrow I has can be at work!

I have a big "prediction thread" comment in me somewhere, but it mostly has to do with my guilt about having a big friend's list and my hope that people will vote for who they like and remember that it's a game on the internet, albeit a fucking COOL game.

It's kind of impossible to not notice that the anonymous top ten lists don't include some of us, including yours truly.

If everyone else wants to drop their flist from the voting, I'll happily drop mine! :)

To be honest, I think the friendslist factor is more complicated than just "You have a big friendslist." I don't know how maybe people have YOU friended, because you have that turned off, but I know that there are several people who have smaller but more engaged friendslists than I do. If I post a poll to my friendslist, I get approximately 4 or 5 additional votes from it, out of close to 340 people reading. While it would be enough to save me from elimination, it wouldn't be enough to make my showing in the competition look a lot more impressive. I actually tend to get more votes from my flist if I pimp out a friend who is close to elimination than I do if I ask for votes for myself. So I don't think it's just having a big friendslist that can really make a difference in voting. It's having a big friendslist that is engaged in LJ Idol and your participation in it.

Also, I'm about to post my top list and you ARE on that one :-P
