Carrie plans to go out to dinner with her wifey tonight- I think they've gotten burnt out from eating at fancy places and opting to go to Macaroni Grill (their pork chops are yummylicious).

I have a feeling I made at least one of those check-like-note things when I was a kid.

Because my husband is away, and in case people missed my comment yesterday, Happy Chinese New Year! I think it's kind of cool that it coincided with V-Day this year.

I was a bit nervous about my entry this week because I went for a completely new format, but thankfully I've been getting some good feedback on it so far. I can't wait to see what everyone has to say about my partner's entry, though, because it is fabulous as far as my sneak preview is concerned. joeymichaels seriously has so much talent, and deserves every credit for his piece. But I won't say more, you'll just have to wait and see for yourself!

I'm surprisingly up to date on the entries posted so far too. Only two more were posted since I was last able to check, and I'll probably read at least one before I go to sleep. It's already nearly 3am here...

But I am not a huge fan of the bitterness that gets passed around on this ONE day because people feel regret or old pain or whatnot because they don't have a partner/spouse/etc. There are so many types of love in this world, so why not celebrate all of them, and NOT see this day as a day one is supposed to receive flowers and jewelry and have a candlelit dinner? My plans involve sleeping and housework, so, even though I do have a spouse, it's not like I'm living it up over here, and I'm still fine with that.

I love ALL of you for myriad reasons - your support, your humor, your writing styles, just for being here and showing up and busting your ass to create something cool to share with the world. So let's just make it a day of love for everyone, "partnered up" or not (and technically, this week, we ALL have partners, haha...;) and keep on keepin' on.

Monday morning and thanks to a three year old taking almost an hour to eat a slice of toast, she's going to be late for kindy, as usual, despite my getting up early because I had no sleep. Not a good omen for a day when I've got shed loads of shopping to do, so will be exhausted by the end of it.

I don't believe in celebrating Valentine's Day when you're an ancient married person like wot I am, so last night I went to see The Wolfman by myself. I don't think I'll be rushing out to see it again any time soon but it was well made and a lot of fun. I'm really looking forward to Shutter Island later this week though - yet another movie they kept delaying the release date of so Thursday, I'm there!

Bruno and I went out fto dinner for Valentine's day. That's usually all we do and that is fine with me. Smile.

I did get hit on by two men at the gas station yesterday. Love must be in the air :)

Otherwise, I don't celebrate anymore. With my current relationship issues, the fire last year and the fact that I think a holiday that makes single people feel bad is just terrible, I don't see the point anymore. Plus, I used to stress about making the day PERFECT and would be so upset when it wasn't. Why do that to yourself? One day isn't worth it. My hubby and I try to have fun together EVERY weekend. I told him to not send me flowers (he was shocked) and I meant it. It does nothing for me.

My favorite V-Day memory so far consisted of having dinner at Hooters. It was so anti-romance, I just loved it! I am by no means a hopeless romantic, nor very romantic at all.

My "special someone", as most people already know, is in Texas in the Air Force. But we did "treat" ourselves to technological goodies as a present to each other. And he said happy v-day when I got online this morning. :)

Just a normal day here. Sitting here in a bathrobe with saran wrap around my head. Just finished getting John to smoosh henna in my hair. Now I get to sit around all white trash looking for 4 hours. Ah, but the things we do for beauty. This is still so much better (and gives me way better color) than chemical dyes.

Other than that, I'm participating in a little thing called Ravelympics (Ravelry's version of the Olympics...you have from the start of Opening ceremonies to the end of closing ceremonies to start and complete any project that will challenge you). I'm currently competing with crocheting a beaded shawl done in mohair. It's turning out great and I'm hoping to get close to finishing today as I have to get back to work tomorrow. Later!

I found a new kind of peanut butter at the store.

Which is a big thing 'cause in Sweden, there's just Skippy.

Is it any good? I don't know yet. But I'm hugely excited 'cause it looks a lot less processed-to-death.

My favorite peanut butter is manufactured by a NYC based company called "Peanut Butter & Co" It's called "Dark Chocolate Dreams" and it's amazing. XD

AND as an added bonus, it's #1 ingredient is... get this.. PEANUTS! Go figure, right? It's all natural stuff, so delicious. Expensive, but so totally worth it, imo. :)

On Valentines Day 1998 my daughter was born....

My mom said it was God's way of giving the day back to me.

Today it is her mother's year to have her for her birthday.

Valentines means anything to me but romance, it has never been a day of romance in my world.

Valentine's Day felt more like last night than today. I think that's because last night was sort of like a half-date...whereas today a shower has not even occurred.

I did get the prettiest of balloons and flowers though...and since I'm the silly type I gollied and gushed. =)

Well someone's been forced to partner with me because I was the only person left, but we still haven't gotten a chance to "have that conversation" about "where this relationship is going" ... in terms of anything at all about where wwe're going with out entries that is.


As such, picture some scenes from "the grinch who stole christmas" as he leans out of his cave and cups a hand to an ear with a distinctly sour expression on his face as he listens to the whos down in whoville singing .... that's how I feel about all you people who are finished with your entries!! :D :D

Valentine's Day was a big deal with me when I was younger. Now that I'm ancient, it's just another day with more chocolate than usual :D

Sharing the Love here:

ground beef...(we used the Quorn meatless soy GB)
1/3-1/2 onion, dep on size of onion
bag o Simply Potatoes hash browns or shredded potatoes
1 egg
garlic...fresh or powder
1 can cream o 'shroom soup and 1/2 can milk
TBSP 1 worscheshire sauce
1/2 C wine
1 box o mixed frozen veggies...(I used green Giant healthy weight
mix of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese to sprinkle on top of casserole

Brown meat, sauce and wine w some olive oil...add in onions and veggies after unthawing.
Spread in baking pan
layer in potatoes
next soup, egg mix
Cheese on top.

Bake 375 degrees for 30 minutes, covered w tin foil...bake 10 more w/o foil.
Ass some lettuce on the side, and you have an awesome, warm meal! Feeds 3-6 people, dep on portions and appetites, so up the ingredients if you need to feed more peeps.

At first, I thought you were making a joke about being more excited for any old Tuesday over V-Day. I know I am more excited about any holiday that gives me a three day weekend than I am Valentines Day!
