Someone asked me about that Haiti joke yesterday. (They must have missed the ones that I made before!)

I don't know the various places on line that you go when you aren't here. (Always a mistake. The Internet is a horrible place. Just stay here. Don't even check your friends list, they are awful people. . . scheming against you. Just stay here. ;p) but the one thing I've been seeing since pretty much day 1 is people using the situation in Haiti for their own personal agenda.

"Do this - for Haiti". "Do that - for Haiti". Even if there isn't really a connection.

There are people who are doing various projects, and really donating the money. Thumbs up for them. But there are also plenty of people just throwing the name around. "Why are we talking about this when people need our help in Haiti????"

My joke was a take on that. Like I said, someone asked, so I wanted to make sure that everyone knew.

My cousin is actually on the ground over there right now. So while I'll joke about pretty much anything, the continuing seriousness of the situation has not escaped my attention.

Using the time my wrist is in a rigid brace (preventive more than anything, no recent injury, just the tendonitis acting up) productively. I started a major writing project that I hope to have out the door by end of this week, beginning of next week. Granted, this part isn't the major writing part, just the "hey, don't you want this" part of it. Nervous but secure that this is the time to start it.

I get 4 hours paid for free... but if I have to come in for the 2nd 4 hours, then I have about 3-4hrs of driving along with it. Sounds like a waste to me, no?

Well, here I am at work. Cursing my employer, because it seems to be one of the only educational institutions open today. Damn them. Made me start to wish I was still working for the Dept. of Ed, because then I'd have a snow day! (Of course, then I'd still be working for that hell hole, the Dept. of Ed...)

Finished all of my reading last night and posted my suggested six or so. Sorry that I didn't get around to commenting more, but I did read everything.

The snow is kinda pretty right now. But it's supposed to get a lot worse. Still might get early dismissal, I suppose.

Hmmm... I'm feeling low energy. Need to find my cheerfulness.

There's snow here, AGAIN. Little one is still reeling about her visit to the dinos (and her new 'friend', a plush Stegosaurus, for her bed) with her cousin (they held hands in the car, AW!). So today we had a snow day .. at the park :)

And now it's work for me! Translations to send out, site to finish up, translations to start, and paperwork to look after. Joys :)

So we have snow, although not enough to make me think cancelling my flight was justified! I am going on Saturday instead, which means I'm missing Muses and Krewe D'Etat, among others, and the first Orpheus parade but thankfully Orpheus has a second one while I'm there. And I might miss Endymion, we'll see. But I will get to see Rex and Zulu and the second Orpheus parade so that's not so bad. And go to my favorite restaurant!

Now I am at work and I have to adjust my expectations to working this week and off next!

Nervous today! Doggy Mac is getting spayed today. She stayed at the vet's overnight so my house was all out of whack with her not being there.

I infamously chew the crap out of my nails and cuticles when I get nervous so I will surely have nubs for fingertips today.

Did a lot of snow shoveling this morning. Fortunately don't have to go to work until the afternoon. According to the news the freeway I usually take to work is full of jackknifed trucks (perhaps they can get unstuck with the help of Swiss Army knife trucks) so will be doing the "alternate route" bit.

I'm snowed in today with my baby boy. My daughter decided she'd rather spend her snow day with her grandparents, aunt and uncle, so I left her there last night. I'm sure they're driving my mom crazy this morning running in and out of the house to play in the snow.

I have some work to do from home. Otherwise, I'm making beef stroganoff and feeling happy to be home and warm. Now I just have to hope that we don't run out of oil in our heating oil tank. We're down to the last dot on the gauge!

Still in the hospital, completely doped up on IV meds right now and hooked up to oxygen. May be having surgery to remove a huge 3-inch cyst from my right ovary (or they may remove the whole ovary, which scares me), and may still have a kidney infection. Having some sort of rheumatological kidney issue, too. I'm also at 25 GRAMS of antibiotics in three days and counting. Good times - and all during a blizzard!

At least my husband made it here safely, and he doesn't have to leave soon, so, we're all good. Now I think I'll sleep, because damn, I feel loopy.

Hope everything is doing well, and no one is stuck in snow. I worry about people. I want you all to be safe :(

I'm at work (boo) with some leftover chicken casserole for lunch (yay) so that I don't have to go out into the cold to get lunch. I have no clue what to make for dinner; I guess I'll have to stop off at the grocery store on the way home this evening.

I am going to fail to make the first comment that came to mind re: Hump Day.

Despite less catch-up sleep than I really needed, I'm not too shabby today. It is Houston Cold outside, 45, bright and sunny.

I got to chat on the phone with my BFF Emerita (aka fwtallgirl yesterday, and by text with my BFF Used To Be Local this morning. Also some lovely IMing with a couple of Idolers last night. :)

And finally, I got some gorgeous fruit at Whole Paycheck (aka Whole Foods) on my way home yesterday, and brought some with me to work today. So all in all, looks like a pretty good day ahead.

So far a bad start to the day. A nightmare about the dentist (I hate the dentist). Overslept my alarm after I got back to sleep after said nightmare. Running late for work. Had to park on the 4th floor roof of the parking deck and the elevator is broken. First student of the day called me rude. Want to go to yoga after work but we leave 5am tomorrow for a wedding in Crystal River and I haven't packed and my sister, b-i-l, and 13 month old niece will be at the house by the time I get off...Oh and sis and hubby are going out for an early valentine's day and I'm supposed to be helping babysit. I haven't finished reading all the entries and I'm worried I'm toodling a little close to the bottom personally. When we do make it, I'm worried that I won't have reliable internet access this weekend to get an entry posted (let alone coordinate with a partner if we do that again)

Also, it's snowing. Sideways. We got out for a few hours yesterday but other than that we've been snowed in since Friday. There was a tree blocking the street to get out until yesterday morning. Oh and as of now the plows are not running because they keep getting into accidents from the high winds. No kidding.
