Voting - Week 12

Welcome to the Intersection Vote! (Is it just me or it seem like that needs it's own theme song??)

Voting this round works the same as normal rounds - read the entries and vote for your favorites. The one twist to it being that the scores of partners are going to be added together and the lowest *2 teams* will be eliminated. (for a total of 4 contestants)

Unfortunately there were two contestants who ended up missing the deadline this time around, and have been automatically eliminated: islandman and unlikekudzu. I am looking at this much like the fabled "college roommate dying" situation. Their partners will not be penalized, and in fact since their chosen partner is now gone, and I'm not going to force a pairing, they find themselves safe from elimination this round. I'm just sorry to see both of these particular contestants going!!!

Despite those losses though, we have some fantastic entries this week. I hope everyone takes the chance to read them all! (and of course remember to support your favorites, they can't make it to the next round without you!)

I'm still a bit stunned by immunity, and think that everyone should still read unlikekudzu's entry. At this point in my life, when I spend 14 hours a day in front of a computer for my livelihood, the discussion of self-censorship strikes a helluva big chord with me.

I've been asked this elsewhere - so I am going to answer it here -

(paraphrased) "What about the partners who did THE SAME TOPIC. Aren't they disqualified?"

I did see it. They even pointed it out when they posted.

I would like to think it was an honest mistake/misunderstanding on their part. My response has been that I think that people who care about following the letter (and spirit) will probably not vote for them. I think it would be a shame though if their individual entries weren't up for consideration.

Which is what my general comment on the situation is: If you think that not following what they were supposed to be doing outweighs what they turned in, don't vote for it.

If you think that individual entries should count for more than the group effort - vote for the ones you liked.

I'd wondered about that when I first saw it happening. But then I read the post where we link our entries and noted that it wasn't explicitly spelled out there... so I thought maybe it had been changed. And I'm glad that those folks weren't disqualified.

I have to admit, I am a little more nervous this week than in weeks past. Not only does lack of votes mean I am out this week, but I would be bringing someone else down too if I failed to produce a good entry...and I am watching the polls and it isn't seeming to be too good for me this week...

It has been one heck of a week (last few weeks really) and my confidence has been low in everything though. Just one of those months I guess...

I'd like to thank everyonr this week who took that extra step of downloading something written in Russian that no one completely knows what it is and apparently you now can't get rid o) - I was not previous aware that some sites do enable you to customize that "little icon guy".

Now that I know, we completely redesigned *the polls* so that no one has anything extra on their icons.
(I did have the option of turning them off at Idol altogether, but it's your icon. I wasn't going to do that. It should be able to look how you want it to look. Unless it helps draw attention to one person over another in a poll - and obviously the santa hats are just one step in the process of allowing more customization of accounts.)

It's kind of nerve-wrecking to have no idea how we're doing in comparison to other parings... yet not quite nerve-wrecking enough for me to actually sit down and plot it out in a spreadsheet ;)
