I am holding the book in my hand right now.

Well, OK, it is actually sitting slightly to my left.

I'll be honest with you, I wasn't sure what the end product was going to look like. For all of my "this is going to be great", I was probably holding my breath more than anyone else and just trusting that it would be.

Now I have it. Now I can hold it in my hand, or put it down slightly to my left. Now I don't have to hope. Now I know.

I've only just started to read it. But I promised that I would let people know when I had it. When I could say "this is something real and this is something worth having".

It's gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

I'll freely admit to weeping like a baby when I saw it. Granted, other people's reactions might not be as strong. :)

I know there's an online purchase discount when/if you want to get one. (I wanted to let people who had been asking know but what people can and can't afford to get and when is entirely between themselves and their wallet!!! :D I'm constantly broke personally so I normally wouldn't be able to get one even at a severely reduced rate!)

But it is still a small press publisher. As anyone who deals with them (especially with small press textbooks) knows, without the overhead the big guys have, it's going to cost more. :( But man does it look pretty.

Hmmm maybe a bunch of people from the comm should each record a reading of an entry or something like that. That would be really cool. If people were interested in something like that, that is. Then you could have your own audio book!

It is a brilliant book. I can't tell a lie. And in case anyone is wondering who might be commenting randomly on this post, I am pricelessone's twin sister. I've read the first 100 or so pages, and they are incredible! I love rediscovering entries that I remember reading and loving, like Kimberly Dillon's Cracking Up (which I read again AS SOON AS I flipped past it) and rm's entry about how she doesn't know how to talk, but also finding new brilliant pieces that I had never seen, like Charlie Johnson's Trauma, Alex Lane's much-talked-about chess piece, or R. Jennifer Aillen's poignant Size of My Ass piece (I swear, she HAS to be just as beautiful as whatever kitten is in her icon, because her writing sure is). Can't wait to read more. You all are SO incredibly talented - not just those included in the book either! Keep pursuing your dreams and passions - I know you will do great things!

I got my three copies in the mail today! YAY!!

One of the copies is going to my Aunt Phyllis, when I see her at my Cousin Peter's (he was her eldest son) memorial in March. I think she'll really appreciate it. =)

Considering the start up costs, it's all the publisher making up costs at this point. Hopefully when all is said and done she will be close to breaking even with this one.
