I'm actually really pissed off right now. It's taken me a week to get a stupid file to download, and just now were we both able to be online at the same time when my router took a dump on me.

Been running nonstop forever with no problems, and had to screw with me JUST NOW. -.- So entirely pissed.

Yesterday I went out with zia_narratora for brunch and social time. And then she took me to her friend's birthday Stout Schlep! Lots of good beer was consumed. It was good.

Today, I woke up early, caught up on some television viewing. Listening to A Prairie Home Companion. Sent in a job application. Searched job postings and found a couple of possibilities. Wanting to be more productive. Hopefully will send off a couple more applications later.

Need to finish my reading. Probably won't be commenting much.

Tonight/today, I come to the Green Room this time with a question likely answered in other Green Rooms before but there've been a lot of those so I haven't looked.

But I keep hearing people saying that meta, comics, fiction and the like aren't "appropriate" in a journaling contest. I hear "journal" and I think day-to-day stuff with varying degrees of insight. Talking about current projects and immediate future hopes, as opposed to discussions of the past and reflections on What Has Been.

Not a fan of that as a contest, of course, 'cause I don't much care to write a bunch of entries about my often boring-as-Hell life.

So, here's the actual question:

How do you define "journaling" as it relates to you and LJIdol in specific?

As a first-timer to the contest, I'm rabidly curious.

There are only two things really and truly inappropriate in Idol:

- things that are not well done, regardless of the format

- things that piss me off. (topping that list is taking nasty swipes at me or other contestants. Both of these things are classless asshat moves.)

Anyone who gives you any other answer is stating their personal opinion on what they happen to like reading.

I spent last night eating the humongerousest meal at a Japanese steakhouse. I want to know why the fried rice at home doesn't taste like that. :/

I used to walk 4-5 miles every other day up until a couple of years ago when my work schedule got too messy. Yesterday, though, I hiked 4 miles total up to the drug store to pick up my scrips instead of driving. I was like, "Ooh, I can still do this!"

Someday I'd like to do a half marathon. Heck, I'd settle for a quarter marathon!

We're all a bit achy here due to the impending rain. The poor old greyhound is more grumbly than usual. Old injuries are twinging a bit for me, but I'm going to keep pushing through. As far as what's going on with me, I think I'm starting to emerge from a weeks-long depressive spell. I don't know whether it's a function of age or just the nature of the stresses in my life being chronic rather than acute, but I find myself taking longer now to bounce back from emotional and physical setbacks than in times past.

I have done my first-round-read-through of this week's entries and have voted. I am fairly sure I will not get a chance to comment this time around due to time constraints and life-catchup caused by the depressive episode mentioned above. And I feel rotten about my inability to comment some weeks, and I do apologize to those who feel slighted by my lack of commenting.

All I can say in my own defence is that I do read all the entries... I have read every single entry in this contest since halfway through Season 3.

I'm glad you're starting to emerge. A lot of the work I do is with depressed folks, and there is such a huge range of responses/symptoms/problems/cures/etc. Complicated stuff, and I'm always so gratified to see the clouds lifting a bit for people.

I'm wondering if one day there will be any statistics on how many people out there that only votes for one person?

Just musing a bit how much of the votes comes from friends lists that doesn't read anything else, and how much that comes from people involved in the competition.

I noticed that the week we were split up in tribes according to friends list size, there was a lot more people voting in the bigger tribe than the smaller one.

Have any such research been done over the years? Is it even possible? Am I unhealthily obsessed with statistics?

This touches on something that I feel continually guilty about... I have a large friends list, and they help me in the voting, I'm sure of it.

I approach this in a couple of ways, depending upon which way the wind is blowing at the time. :) My current approach is that the reason I have such a large friends list is that they enjoy reading what I write, so there's an organic truth to the votes I get.

The other approach I take is that I'm CHEATING. So I avoid that one as much as possible. :)

-The tax refund check is CLOSE, and it's going to change our lives for a month. haha

My boy and I got caught in a snuggle vortex this am that kept us in bed much later than it should have. Otherwise the day should be generally quiet.

Oh and I also just need to state what a bad idea I think the new A-Team movie is. I like all of those actors, and would love to see them in something together, but leave my A-Team alone! (Also, Mr T hasn't aged a day so there is no reason he couldn't still be in it.)

I'm contemplating signing up for pole dancing class. As much as they feature them on Oprah and all these talk shows, it's hard to find too many real places. The places I have found involve a bit of a drive. And they're expensive! But I want to learn how to do sexy things. Ha.

I've taken a pole dancing class, singular, for a friend's bachelorette party. I can tell you that it is a workout, a lot of fun, and that you'll end up with bruises in strange places. Like the top of your foot.
