I am actually petrified of the gatekeeper round. I feel like I should have gone with fiction now.

Ah well. I'm getting frustrated with the lack of progress with my ex moving out. He hasn't found a place and is still trying to be lovey-dovey with me. Needless to say, I find this incredibly disturbing.

Since I am always working, it's never a question of getting "back" to work, but I'm actually feeling a bit less blue about it this weekend, which makes a nice change.

I'm curious to know if there will ever be a public revealing of the full record of 117-critiques-times-unknown-number-of-Gatekeepers. That would be an intriguing read, and potentially useful constructive criticism for those contestants who remain.

Of course, it could also be a tool for the most hideous unleashing of drama.

About the drama? Yeah i beleive during the season I participated, I dropped out before gatekeeper round happened, so I've never experienced it before.

So it'll be interesting to see what happens.

We actually got a short time gig that won't start until middle of next week-but it's only a 3-4 week job with no chances of extension or long term possibilities.

I ended up taking 2 days off to deal with a migraine, so I'm working today. And amazed at the time because we got all our errands ran yesterday so today was a quick lunch and quick stop at the grocery store. We're never home this early! It's nice.

What else is nice is that my fiance decided that since we'd been so good with keeping a very strict budget this last year (to pay down debt as he's been in the middle of constant job security flux), we would use the gift cards his current job gave him as a "bonus" and he bought us each an iPod Touch. So I have a shiny new toy to play with that we didn't go into debt for. Really, this is a big deal for us because for the last year a splurge purchase has been dinner out somewhere other than fast food OR going to see a movie in the theater. We've seen 2 movies all year, so that should tell you something. We've been so very good and have paid down over half of the revolving debt in this year, so while our practical sides are saying we should have put the money towards bills or needed things, we're both very pleased with a reward. :) He's a good guy, since I told him I was fine with him using the money on stuff he needed (new tires, etc). Instead, he split the bonanza with me.

Oh, and I'm using the iPod to totally distract me from the nerves of the Gatekeeper round. While I'm happy with what I've written this season, I'm not sure I'm at the same caliber as some of the other contestants. Oh well, at least I made it to my personal goal of halfway through. The rest is gravy.

A little of both... time off is nice, but we're dead effin' broke, so there's not a ton to do. We're feeling a bit housebound.

Do people really stir up drama about this stuff? I mean, I'm going to feel badly for a bit when I get the boot, but I can't even imagine protesting or making a big deal out of it. We humans are complicated beings. :)

Yesterday baxaphobia and I went to see the lovely bones. During the movie, toward the end, the theater caught fire and we had to evacuate.

Sadly, I missed all the "warning signs"...it never crossed my mind. For some reason, I thought we'd be informed it was a gatekeeper round *before* we submitted our entries. Silly me. ;)

Good afternoon everyone. Today I feel like someone hit me over the head with a rather large rock. I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm exhausted today. A rather snug little cave would be nice right about now. Oh well. It's a good thing I have tomorrow off.

I'm having a beautiful day. Mass was beautiful as always, and I reconnected with a dear friend I haven't seen since November (and have been missing most dreadfully). AND I finally took a load of things to the thrift store for donation -- been putting that off for roughly forever!

Now it is laundry time, a chore I strangely enjoy. :)

I hope to do a recommendation post this afternoon, because I feel there are some fantastic entries that deserve reading/commenting even though we aren't the voters this time around!

I've been following along this year as well as part of last year, and I've got a question for you on the Gatekeeper round:

Are the Gatekeepers voting on who they like, or are they specifically voting on this week's entries?

I'm thinking that if someone typically wrote entries the Gatekeeper(s) really liked, but this week wrote a less-than-stellar entry, would the Gatekeeper(s) be more inclined to hang on to that writer because they just had a bad week? Or are the Gatekeeper(s) only considering this week's entry, and it doesn't matter if it's their most favourite writer - if it doesn't cut it this week, they get cut.

Hello!

They are specifically voting on this week's entries. There are some of them who have never read a single entry from the majority of these contestants before this week, and some who follow religiously. I try to keep that balance.

The "what would tip something from the maybe column" (if they have an extra spot after the clear "yes" and "no" votes) will no doubt vary from Gatekeeper to Gatekeeper. Some of them might very well look back at past entries to see if there's a track history. Some of them will just are as likely not to do that, but rather take the "maybes" up against each other on their individual merits.

I already have two sets of votes in, and they are as diverse as the Gatekeepers casting them. Some in common of course - there are bound to be, but I think overall this could end up being quite close. I'm *quite* pleased by the Gatekeepers this season. I don't know what they are going to end up giving me as far as the Top 100 goes, but I know they will do a good job*)


(*every season's Gatekeepers have done a good job, and I've been happy with all of them, even when I was surprised at the outcome. But just like everything I have tried to go "bigger and better" with this particular group. I *like to think* that when people read the reveal post that they will be as pleased as I was.)

i was supposed to go to the movies tonight to see Book of Eli, but now husband has to work late, so i guess it's just a regular night for me now.

I have a girl's night on friday to see Lovely Bones, I wasn't really that interested, but if I am going to be invited out I am going to go, I so rarely get to go and do fun things anymore.
