Green Room - Week 21 - Weekend Edition

Good morning.

I was thinking about a comment that I've read in the past and just saw again recently. (It's always funny how the "original thoughts" tend to recycle themselves season to season.*g*) It was about how you have to spend a lot of time in the Green Room in order to do well in Idol.

So then I looked back over the course of the last 21 weeks and realized that there are only, what 4 of the Top 21 who are frequent Green Room participants. Everyone else pops their head in and talks a little, but not anywhere near what the implication has been!!!

Heh, and of course *I* would rather people be talking more in the Green Room!*g* But that's me! I want people to comment in the Green Room, each other's entries and join the community!! These are a few of my favorite things. . . *looks around nervously, afraid that the hills might actually be alive with the sound of music. Alive, and HUNGRY.* (I've heard that the hills have eyes after all!)

So anyway - here we are again. Dancin' neath the starry sky. Or late morning/early afternoon one at least!

So far today I have mostly cleaned and done some grocery shopping, and I'm awaiting my mom's arrival tomorrow.

With Eric having to rest his leg and my mom here that makes 3 kids to look after ;) That said, Eric is better than my mom, whom I frequently have to tell to wash her hands after toilet visits or before eating. She also thinks vegetables are optional for meals haha.

Yeah, I'll try and comment as much as I can, between keeping kids out of the cookie jar *G*

Today is for reading, writing and napping. Mimi says I have to clean the catbox, so I'll do that. Otherwise, laziness will be the rule of the day. It was a very tough week, and this week will be tougher. Actually, it's not getting better until March 20.

heh I've made the joke before (a slight exaggeration - but IMO funny) that there were times that if it wasn't for making all the deadlines if you remembered you were in the competition!!!*G*

You were just *extremely* busy. I don't recall if I really knew how busy you were at the time! But every time I hear that "you HAVE to be really active in the Green Room" I think of you and chuckle.

To HAVE to be able to write your ass off. That's the one rule that shows no sign of ever being broken.

Tomorrow's my birthday, but I don't have big plans. Nice plans, yes, but not big ones.

Today I got bitten by a Mastiff. My leather coat protected me from having to go to an emergency room, but it still stung. Am fine, but it was surprising. :)

I still like the Mastiff, for the record. I'm just going to be more careful next time I walk him at the SPCA.

We're taking Miss Kid to the bead shop for her to play and for me to pick up more beads for dreamcatchers and bracelets.

Other that that we have no real plans ... computer and video games, movies and good eating, that's our life. :D

I'm relaxing on the couch right now, after getting home from the hospital yesterday afternoon post-liver biopsy. I wasn't *supposed* to have an overnight stay in the hospital, but after the doc accidentally punctured my diaphragm I was in quite a lot of pain, so they kept me overnight to be on the safe side. Whee.

But I'm home now and only a bit achy, and recouperating well. Hubby brought home some Panera bagels and cream cheese for breakfast, so that was nice.

I've voted, and submitted my Jury votes, and am eager to see who wins immunity this week!

I'm going to take the kid into the big city today and visit with my brilliant, U of T pre-law student, kid sis for the day. There's an ice sculpture exhibit a block from her place this weekend. Should be cool - literally. The only time we get sushi for lunch is in TO with the sis so that's a bonus! LOL Should be a great day!

In which I kill two birds with one stone.

Bird #1: I'm a popper-inner of the Green Room. Not because I'm trying to be anti-social, but because I won't LJ at work. Why yes, I AM afraid of Big Brother! :) With the job market as precarious as it is and my general tendency to write about my job, it's not a risk I feel like taking. Since anonymous commenting is no bueno in here, my Green Room time is pretty limited.

We have HUGE plans this weekend. We are going into the huge town of Bastrop, Texas, getting our hair cut, and eating Chinese food at a total dive. If the rain lets up, we may take the Abbi Toesers to a State park.

I was totally looking forward to reading and voting last night, but I took a Zyrtek (I had to try that and Claritin before my insurance co will pay for Allegra) and passed out for seventeen hours. The beginning of my weekend went *poof*! I am sad :( I should clean the house today but am still groggy. This is ridiculous!

Just returned from the second Costco run of the week. With everything we now have, I don't anticipate going near there for the next couple of months or so.

How often I'm here in the GR utterly depends on my work schedule. I don't have computer access at work, so by the time I'm home the GR is usually fizzled out :(

Slept in late. But I hurt like hell. Literally like hell. I'm thinking about documenting theday in my journal the pain is so bad.

I'm feeling a little better now, but it's been a rough 24 hours for me. I've somehow tweaked my *good* hip, and it's hurting anytime I try to move it. I've been having to use a modified bedpan instead of going to the bathroom, which really sucks (not that you really wanted to know that). I've also been sleeping almost non-stop.

I did watch some good movies, though - Quills, Storytelling, and It's In the Water.

My girlfriend just gave me a sponge bath and helped me wash my hair, and my leg is not currently hurting, so things are looking up for the rest of the day...

oh, Quills. I loved that. I saw it without knowing what it was and was somewhat blown away with the timing of it because I was just studying him in one of my lit classes.

The others are ones I want to see but haven't yet.

I think there are a lot of misconceptions regarding what it takes to win...so I'm with you, Gary. As you know, I started out with a friends list of a whopping 14. I usually post a reminder vote because there are kind people (like my nieces) who want to be reminded...but like last weekend, I didn't get involved at all from Friday-Monday and posted a last minute (there was 20 minutes left to go) "pimping" message, which gained me a total of 1 vote. The readers were kind enough to vote for my entry without the reminder...and boy howdy am I grateful!

So, point is, having a huge friends list doesn't necessarily make a big difference. Most of the friends I have now are by the grace of the Green Room and the kind people involved in LJ Idol.

And, as I've said before...with the example of rm, she has a big friends list because she is a fascinating person with great writing skills. I daresay it's like that for other people with a lot of friends, even though they may not have as many as she does. I don't think it's a secret I'm a fan.

I'm also a huge supporter of Gary and how he runs this show. So, go Gare!

I still have a few entries to read, and a few more to comment on. Trying to get things done around the house and failing because this computer keeps talking to me, literally.

As for green room participation, I'd be curious to know, of the past winners, how many were regular participants in the GR? I know my first season I didn't participate in it at all, but made it into the top twenty, I think? Last year I participated a lot. This year I've just been busy and had some health struggles and things like that. I feel like I'm only making it in on the weekends. Sigh. I love the GR though and I hate it when one isn't posted, hint, hint. It stresses me out and upsets the balance of my entire day. Okay, I realize that I am odd at times.

My boyfriend got a Wii fit last weekend, and I am having fun 'exercising' with it. Though I've discovered trying to do leg strength things on days that I had already run is painful.

My giant to do list for time off has gotten smaller, but there is more to do than there is time off left. I am declaring today to be a lazy day anyway, because I've earned it.
