It's about Valentines Day and I saw someone pimp it on my own FL. So I figured I would share it with the rest of you in case you missed it! (her FL is pretty huge, so for all I know every last one of you are on it!!*g*)

How to "embed the poll".

It's basically just a fancy way of linking it.

You go to the poll itself. See that number? Poll #_____?
Add that number into
< lj-poll-_____ > and post it.

(close those brackets first though. I just realized that it didn't show up the first time because LJ read that as code instead of instructions on how to post code!*g*)

It's not "a cheat". It's more of a remote voting or express lane. You might get some more votes, but since they ultimately come back to the central location anyway they all register where I can see them anyway!

Also, if you click on "poll #" on the poll itself and then "fill out poll" you can change your vote if you decide "oops I voted for the wrong person!" or you realize that they kind of smell like a hippie!!

The first one is an LJ "glitch" that was apparently fixed before but not everyone knew about - and the second is something I think most people who have ever filled out a poll before might have come across but it's always good for a reminder.

Valentine's day has been quiet. Bruno and I went to breakfast. He then went ice fishing with his friends for a bit and I've been a total slug and loving it! Happy birthday monkeysugarmama!

I only recently discovered that you could change polls and still don't know the embedding thing, so this is useful information to me :o)

I'd just like to point out that the above-described way to post a poll is exactly 100% the way a poll is always posted. People just assumed they couldn't post someone else's poll.

Actually, the old way to repost a poll was to cut-and-paste the source code. You could also edit the source code to do fun stuff.

LJ Fixed that little bug a while ago.

I have tried all sorts of things (on my own, having nothing to do with LJI) to see if I could get around the restrictions on polls now and I wasn't able to get the embedding thing to work until recently.

So.. perhaps something changed, I don't know.

Hmm. I tried to embed the poll, but it didn't work. Are you sure those were supposed to be two dashes, instead of one of them being an equals sign or a space or something? It doesn't seem to comport with the usual LJ code.

I replaced the underscores with the number of the poll and closed in the spaces between the text and the brackets.

happy valentines day everyone!

i decided to make it a fun food day. we had pumpkin pancakes for breakfast, rice crispie treats and strawberry milk with lunch, and marinaded steak for dinner. ok so the last part only my husband and i appreciated, it can't all be for the boy.

Sounds fun. I had cheese dainish for breakfast.

Then for lunch I supplied the ingredients and baxaphobia tried to kill me with her cooking. We had tator tot casserole. Tots, cream of mushroom soup, cheese, sour cream, and french fried onions. Man it was good but my intestinal tract is all greased up.

We are all ordering chinese delivery for dinner. yummers. it's on its way.

Happy Valentine's Day if you're celebrating!

We're currently attempting to devour a 12" chocolate chip cookie I got at work. It has a double chocolate border, fudge drizzle, Valentine confetti (little sugar bits shaped like multicolor hearts), and random red hearts scattered here and there. I told our PT decorator to "go to town" with it, seeing as I couldn't decorate it myself since I was baking.

We had an early dinner at the BBQ joint down the street. I may never eat again...or at least until sometime next week :erk:

I'm having a pretty good day.

A call to the ortho yesterday resulted in them giving me different directions on my pain meds, and it's helped immensely. I have virtually no pain.

Also, one of my dearest friends (and eventual baby daddy) has come up this weekend to me my "caretaker." He's a wonderful and funny man. He made breakfast this morning and I got a sponge bath! Right now he and my girlfriend are out hunting and gathering (read: collecting food from KFC).

Life could be worse. Even with a broken leg.

woke up this morning to the noises of my adorable toddler yelling "mommy! breakfast! Pancakes and Bacon!"

Aah. Good morning. Good afternoon. Good naptime.

Then my adorable toddler woke up from his nap with a scary fever. :(

So we canceled our dinner plans, medicated the babe, and I went out to get sushi take out for dinner. Now he's sleeping and Adam and I are watching a movie.

It's looking like people pretty much just want me to comment to them as they are eliminated.

Which of course means I'll say a few words, but probably not offer much in the way of my general impressions.

After all, when you are being eliminated the last thing you probably want to hear anyone, but especially the guy who has to formally pull the trigger on the voter's decision talking about how "the one thing you did that I couldn't quite figure out why you kept doing it. . ."*G*

My day has been extremely relaxing. So relaxing, in fact, that I haven't gotten a productive thing done all day. Happily, there is tomorrow! Now that I've gotten a weekend of hockey goodness (my team has now moved to a tie for first in their league...w00t!), I've got no excuse.
