*peers back outside*

There is this bright thing in the sky that has been there since I got up to go to work this morning. It's not usually there.

I've seen it on the weekends, but I know that it's not usually there on weekdays coming to or leaving work.

Quite frankly it's kind of freaking me out!!

Is it a friend? Foe?

What does it want? Why does it just keep hanging there all shining and giving off heat?

What is it up to?
OR

As [livejournal.com profile] jenandbronze would say "have it been up to, what?"

***

Just glancing at the polls this morning I can tell that this week is going to be another hard one. Who do you feel isn't getting the attention they deserve? (keeping in mind that for every person that moves up it's going to move someone else *down*)

I think it's foe. I've never been a fan. I tried finding the "off" switch once, early in the morning while on the road, but didn't have any luck. All I know is I don't trust it.

It is foe, but it has some friendly side effects.

For example, the street I live on is finally clear of ice thanks to the bright orb.

I'm looking at it dubiously because it's still too cold outside for it to do its job -- like melt the rest of the ice in the driveway!

(yes, I nearly killed myself putting out the recycling earlier -- why do you ask?)

Back from NYCC and survived.

I love that I didn't have to bundle Caroline up to take her to the bus.

Now I have to clean up from the con and do laundry.

I'm more than familiar with the voting for one person moves another one down lol. This is going to be a very tough week and I'm hanging on by my teeth...

I've been thinking about comments and commenting lately. I realize that I don't comment nearly as much as I want to or should. I also realize that this could be taken as a snub and it sincerely is nothing of the sort. My problem is intimidation. I'm completely intimidated by those around me and therefore feel that my comments mean nothing....which I know is completely irrational. lol

I guess this is my FYI that I'm really there and I do have things to say...it's just getting over that little hurdle.

From: [identity profile] xo-kizzy-xo.livejournal.com
I try to comment as much as possible. I hate sounding like a broken record sometimes, though...if I don't feel I can say anything original, I won't say anything. It's almost like I want to put up a sign that says "Kizzy was here" or something!

I am keeping a wary eye on the yellow sky ball, too. It hasn't been around often enough lately for me to trust it.

As far as "the love" goes, alas, I only have one vote per entry to give for my Idolers. I showed all who earned my love this week with my one wee vote per entry.

Date: 2009-02-09 02:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] abbismom.livejournal.com
Some of my top ten are in the bottom six right now. [livejournal.com profile] imafarmgirl's entry is like the beat of a native drum to your heart, I really recommend it. If she is kicked out I will be stunned and a bit heartbroken, because I'm a huge fan and she's one of the ones that I would not might losing to because I think she deserves to win.

[livejournal.com profile] xo_kitty_xo is a raw look into a struggle-filled soul and led me to angst awhile over a question I've had from the beginning of LJ Idol: is it more true to the nature of the usual LJ blog to write off the cuff displaying raw feelings...whatever they are...or to write a polished essay? Whatever, I like her entry a lot this week.

[livejournal.com profile] hide_4_shame has a very interesting and unique take on the topic, outlining not one meaningful blanket but targeting different ages and the blanket that meant something special at the time...this is an elegant essay that spoke to me.

[livejournal.com profile] az_sunshine talks about her almost brush with fame and how the ensuing disappointment was eased in a most surprising way...worth a second look for sure.

There are some other amazing posts but these are the ones that I am very surprised to see in the bottom at this point.

Things that suck:

A pillow has fallen behind the couch I am holed up on. One of the cats apparently decided that that pillow was a litter box. I'll let you imagine the smell.

Things that do not suck:

I spoke with my part-time job that I was supposed to be starting training for next week. They are sympathetic to my situation and say that I can totally delay training/starting for a few months. Yay.

It's been a fun run, but I don't think I can dodge the axe this week.

[livejournal.com profile] thenodrin liked my entry because "nobody died in it," LOL. I feel that's a definite plus! I know I'm one of the "simpler" writers here, but if you read my work you'll know it's welcoming, friendly, even cozy - just what an entry about "blanket" should be!

I was really hoping to make the Top 25 this time. Ah well...

From: [identity profile] thenodrin.livejournal.com
I'd been reading the entries here and there throughout the week, but not as they went up, because I was in and out of meetings.

So, yours was one of the last ones that I got a fresh look at. And, come one, you gotta admit that most of the entries were downright depressing. When I re-read my entry I half expected to see the line, "And that is why I killed him, strangled with the threads from an old blanket."

I hope that this week's topic is a bit more upbeat. Just a little. Something like Slaughterhouses or Where Veal Comes From.

Good news:
~Wok is in the hizzouse!
~Someone generously (and anonymously) paid for a 6 month extension to my LJ account. Thank you!
~I still have a job.

Bad news:
~Coworker L lost her job due to downsizing.
~Coworker M still has her job (to my knowledge).
~Do not want to go to work today to see the changes...

But there's nothing cuter than to see a MinPin standing in the laundry basket...

I only received one comment for that entry....but then I posted it kind of late in the week, I'm sure not many read it...(it was kind of long)

Today we're supposed to find out if we still have a job - if so - we return tomorrow, if not then we'll file for unemployment. There aren't a lot of jobs out there - and most job networking meetings/places are really full and are turning people away *sighs*.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. But if we still have a job - it's only a temporary reprieve - until March 17th.

But we've also got dinner plans. So there's that.

Now, I've got to go downstairs and put chicken parts and veggies and water in the crockpart so there's dinner later tonight.

Edit: That's "crockpot." I don't have a kitchen device designed only to cook parts.

Gary, I think it's a friend. And perhaps you freak it out as much as it freaks you out?

If I pick out one or two people who I think need more attention, then I'd be leaving out the rest of them. Some of the people I voted for are at the bottom and some of the people I voted for are at the top. : ( I guess at this point I just wish more people voted. Like 1,000 or 2 million or something.

This morning I woke up at 8 and told Greg "omg get out of bed you're going to be late to work!"

And he was like, "hmm, don't feel like it."

And then I got even more nervous and was like "Greg you're being mean, you have to go to work please?"

And he told me, "I took the day off. Surprise."
