The Mr and Miss Kid are off to work/school so it's me and Nox for the day.

Monday 'has' come a bit fast ... but possibly that's a good thing since this was apparently the weekend of spending. On the plus side the invitations are picked out and sitting in the bedroom, we have a basket for the flower girl that I need to paint, flower petals for her, and the flowers for the two bouquets (silk flowers FTW!). I need to make a list of things we need to buy. *sigh*

Back to catching up on emails and dreamcatchers for the day. :)

I have a feeling that tomorrow's 8:15 am class is going to be what really smacks me like a wet trout, but then I can stagger home and watch Elizabeth Alexander deliver the inaugural poem in the afternoon. (Seriously, check out her website: http://www.elizabethalexander.net -- credentials, credentials, credentials; five books of poems, two of essays; awards, awards, awards. I see how she made it onto the inaugural committee's short list, oh yes.)

I've given my students an extra-credit assignment (I made it optional in order to avoid vomiting among any young Republicans I might have in my classes) to write about Alexander's inaugural poem, and possibly compare and contrast it with the one Maya Angelou read for Bill Clinton in 1993.

Good morning everyone!

I have housework to do today to prepare for a small party tomorrow; I guess I won't be around as much today as I might otherwise.

We did manage to buy a car on Saturday: a 2009 Mazda3 iTouring 5-speed *zoomzoom* It is a compromise between the sports car that my husband wanted and the fantastic reliability that I wanted. Pictures as soon as we have sunny weather (and not snow).

I don't want to be poll watching. However, I will be updating that unofficial web page some of you have heard about periodically.

Good morning.
I started the morning by calling the insurance company because I needed to make a claim. We had a sewer pipe freeze yesterday, thus causing a rainshower in our front hall coming from the light fixture. Water finds interesting places to travel. So that was a joy. I'm waiting for the adjuster to call. Ah the joys of home ownership and owning an old home.
Other than that things are fine here. I have the day off.
