It's the last day of the poll: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/736346.html

That's one of those things that isn't open to interpretation.

Heck, it's one of the few things in Idol that doesn't end up as a Rorschach test. There is a poll, and it ends at a certain time.

Everything else - from how you look at those results, to the topics and how you interpret them/react to other people's interpretations, that's something where every person is going to come at them from a slightly different angle and see things in their own way, based on their own life experiences.

Which is one of the things that I've always found so much fun about Idol. I set the basic framework, and each season the contestants themselves fill in all of the blanks.

You see it in how people react to the topics ("Worse topic ever!" "This is great, I have so many ideas!") to how they react to Idol itself. ("wretched hive of scum and villainy" to "this is home", sometimes from the same people. :P)

Seeing the same thing interpreted in a number of ways, it definitely keeps me on my toes!

Idol is, ultimately, what you decide that is going to be each season. You, the contestants and those out there in Readerland, decide how the season is going to go with each vote.

Which is what makes this so interesting for me. So, thanks!

I just came across this, and thought it was interesting information. I don't tend to do the whole "trigger warning" thing, but it is about racism and there is use of the N-word. There is also ice cream. No trigger warnings for ice cream.

We've come to that time in the week when we need to say goodbye to people.

I've noticed a tendency for some people to skip this, and move on to the topic post without saying much. I'd urge you not to do that.

The people leaving us have done a lot of great work, and we are losing something special in our community. Well, I hope we don't actually *lose* them. Hopefully, they will stick around and continue to share their work in the Home Game and hang out in the Green Room. After all, you never know when that opportunity to re-enter the game will happen!

[livejournal.com profile] crochet_all_day announced his sacrifice in the entry itself. So that is who is leaving from the Redemption Tribe.

We are also losing

[livejournal.com profile] labelleizzy and [livejournal.com profile] taleanea

while
[livejournal.com profile] jenandbronze and [livejournal.com profile] sinnamongirl will be entering the Redemption Tribe, which will continue to exist for a couple more weeks!

It was another close vote, and if things keep up like this, it's going to be a string of ones just as close. Clearly, people are "bringing it" this season!

You are on the internet. I know, this comes as news to you.

There are things here, things that appear and don't seem to go away, that seep into the culture and into the collective consciousness.

That's not instructions, that's just a piece of insight.

You don't have to go in that direction.

All you really need to do is

Keep calm and end this meme

The deadline to link your entries back to this thread is Monday, May 19th at 8pm EDT.

Have fun!

The new topic is up: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/737446.html

You've had 8 of these things this season so far, so you know the drill!

This is a forum to discuss what is working in your writing, and what isn't, get advice - and bounce ideas for the topic.

Use it well!
