I apologize for the delay. Some of it was the sheer number of late voters rushing to the polls. Some sort of it was technical difficulties - and of course some of it had to due with the sheer figuring things out about where that "I know it when I see it line" was going to fall.

I did promise that at least 5 contestants would be leaving this week, and possibility as many as 10.

Let's just say that line between staying and going ran down about half of the contestants this week - and those "safe", well, they might not have been as safe if it wasn't for all those people rushing to the polls in those final few hours. So, definitely send them a thank you note, or a fruit basket.

That said, let's get to it, because it's already pretty late.

Handling the matter of Bouncing Immunities first - they did come into play in at least one case. Which further complicated where the line was going to end up!

alexmegami gave immunity to [livejournal.com profile] rattsu
applespicy AND [livejournal.com profile] erica_crawford gave immunity to [livejournal.com profile] everywordiwrite
baxaphobia gave immunity to [livejournal.com profile] similiesslip
istaar gave immunity to [livejournal.com profile] autumn_writing
lynxypoo had two immunities, and they were given to [livejournal.com profile] alephz and [livejournal.com profile] basric
mac_arthur_park gave immunity to [livejournal.com profile] tough_doll
and <"milk_and_glass gave immunity to [livejournal.com profile] spydielives

One immunity went unused, and has been removed from the field of play.

Congratulations to all of those who will be able to hand off their good fortune to someone else next week!

Now the sad news, Part 1: [livejournal.com profile] phoenixejc decided to sacrifice. Based on her standings, she would have been more than safe, but due to that dreaded RL monster, she threw herself on the sword.

Which resulted in that window of "how many people are going to shift down a couple. So she didn't just save one person, her actions ended up saving three!

Unfortunately, though, there are 7 other contestants who are leaving us this week.

I know that I personally was surprised by the names. Like I said earlier though, you can never be entirely sure what will happen with a Contestant Only vote. As soon as you think you have it figured out, it has a way of turning on you.

Leaving us this week are:

[livejournal.com profile] erica_crawford
[livejournal.com profile] genesisdesire
[livejournal.com profile] sonarvampress
[livejournal.com profile] sorchawench
[livejournal.com profile] sra33
[livejournal.com profile] standgale

You will be missed! I hope we continue to see you around the Green Room, and in the Home Game! You never know when there might be an opportunity to jump back in!

The new topic is up: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/516745.html

One of the many side conversations in yesterday's Green Room brought up something that I personally found interesting. Maybe you will as well.

There was a comment about things someone didn't like in an entry. Which, OK. There are lots of people with all kinds of things that they don't like in an entry. But for some reason there was a mini stampede of people wondering if it was them.

Most of that is a cocktail of insecurity and curiosity. The wanting to be pleased meeting the pleased with themselves when they realize that they didn't commit whatever cardinal sin in someone's Writing Pantheon was being outlined.

The question arose though - What is it about your own work that you are afraid someone is going to comment on, and how do you think you can fix it.

Yeah, I'm pretty much pulling out the innards here and saying "Read your own future"! But you know your tricks and highs/lows. You know what is it you work around and struggle with it.

I guarantee, if you are trying to figure it out, other people are as well.

Fall down: about now. It was a long night.

A co-worker was talking about how he listens to “everything”, and how broad his range of music was.
So I asked him about a couple bands, he looked at me like I was making up names. I guess from his perspective, I was.
Reminder to self: When people say that, they mean “everything regularly on the radio”. ;)

Which is similar to when people say they “read everything”, “write everything” and all around “know everything”! ;)
