Last night was *cold*. So I turned on the space heater.

Or rather, I plugged it in and turned it on.

I heard a noise.

Then I saw the sparks coming out of the outlet!!!

So I shut it off, and unplugged it. The prongs were *scorched*!!!

I guess I'm just going to have to be cold!

Lousy day so far. I got to work half an hour late, and, despite the fact that everyone's been very nice to me, I feel super-picked-on today. One of those totally unreasonable and unfounded feelings of persecution.

I had to get a new space heater this winter too, for my office. 60 degrees in here, normal ambient temperature. My space heater started to smell... hot... so I got a new one!

Otherwise, cold and working on my entry. I liked the ending better, so I'm trying to re-work it to make the end the beginning!

ETA: Cold here is 20 degrees F.

Midly feeling better after some meetings at school last night. Egg nog latter and piece of gingerbread from Caribou Coffee makes the world a bit of a better place.

Wishing it was the weekend...
but need to finish the entry first. Had a nice start yesterday during the LJ downtown and stupid me forgot to save it. Then when closing up shop at work I closed out word and realized it was not saved. *head desk* So here's to hoping this one goes as well as the first.

I have a space heater under my desk at work. It gets used most in the summer, when the stupid University runs the a/c much colder than anyone in my office is comfortable.

Having a hell of a time with this week's theme. I can think of times I've been unprepared, it's just that none of them are interesting, other than maybe to me! Plus most involve my husband, and I'm sure you're all sick of reading about him by now! ;)

When using a space heater please note the following.

1. Space heaters should be approved for commercial use by a recognized safety testing laboratory
2. Placed away from combustible materials
3. Make sure that the space heater has some type of tip-to ensure it will turn off automatically if knocked over.

Most extension cords are not rated for the higher power demands of space heaters and may become overloaded and catch fire. Therefore NEVER use an extension cord when using a space heater.

I'm feeling pretty good, because I just got over a cold that knocked me down for about a week and a half.

Wow that's scary about the space heater and it's too bad that your options are to be cold or well, to be cold. Maybe you can get EVERY blanket, pillow and stuffed animal you own, build a fort and then sleep in side there to celebrate not having proper heating. It might be fun.

I can not WAIT to take my much needed afternoon nap (I don't nap usually, but Anya decided to get up at too early thirty this morning).

I am embarrassed to say I haven't read any of the entries yet. I usually have by now, too, at least read up to the last posted entry. I'm really looking forward to reading them, though. But of course after the nap or else my comments back would be, "Screw the entry, do you have a down comforter?" or, "Can you die of yawning so many times in a row?"

The heater in our condo can't maintain a nice steady temperature. It turns on, blasts ridiculously warm air for several minutes, then shuts off until the room is cold again, then comes back on. It's driving me crazy.

And now we have realized that having the heater on at night is probably the reason we both keep waking up with sinus headaches. Stupid dried-out sinuses. So now we just leave it off. All the time.

We will have to respectfully disagree. I hated the last weel's episode with a passion. It was dumb, convoluted and overwrought.

It was telling a hundred stories in one and didn't work.

This week was one story about one criminal and his many crimes. It was a character study in undercover work.

It was perfect.

I am going to just keep going until I drop, because stopping means I fail, and I just can't do that right now.
