Green Room - Week 9 - Day 3
Nov. 19th, 2008 11:06 amLast night was *cold*. So I turned on the space heater.
Or rather, I plugged it in and turned it on.
I heard a noise.
Then I saw the sparks coming out of the outlet!!!
So I shut it off, and unplugged it. The prongs were *scorched*!!!
I guess I'm just going to have to be cold!

My morning hasn't been much better.

How are YOU doing?
How are those immunities doing?
How are the entries that have been submitted so far?

Date: 2008-11-19 04:16 pm (UTC)I'm having a brain fog morning, on a day where I really need to get out of the house and run errands.
I have several possibilities for an entry... we'll see which one plays itself out.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:16 pm (UTC)Lousy day so far. I got to work half an hour late, and, despite the fact that everyone's been very nice to me, I feel super-picked-on today. One of those totally unreasonable and unfounded feelings of persecution.

Date: 2008-11-19 05:31 pm (UTC)What?!?!?
HAHA, you were latttttttteeee!
(I'm late every day, I don't have to sign in, so... ;))

Date: 2008-11-19 04:21 pm (UTC)Otherwise, cold and working on my entry. I liked the ending better, so I'm trying to re-work it to make the end the beginning!
ETA: Cold here is 20 degrees F.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:22 pm (UTC)Midly feeling better after some meetings at school last night. Egg nog latter and piece of gingerbread from Caribou Coffee makes the world a bit of a better place.
Wishing it was the weekend...
but need to finish the entry first. Had a nice start yesterday during the LJ downtown and stupid me forgot to save it. Then when closing up shop at work I closed out word and realized it was not saved. *head desk* So here's to hoping this one goes as well as the first.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:24 pm (UTC)For once, I got my entry done early, work is going well, and my boss is leaving at 11:45, the office is doing Thanksgiving potluck...
Ahh, good times.
Also, there is a Woot Off! *glee*

Date: 2008-11-19 04:26 pm (UTC)Having a hell of a time with this week's theme. I can think of times I've been unprepared, it's just that none of them are interesting, other than maybe to me! Plus most involve my husband, and I'm sure you're all sick of reading about him by now! ;)

Date: 2008-11-19 06:22 pm (UTC)I for one like reading about your husband.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:28 pm (UTC)I've liked what i've read of the entries so far, but it's very doubtful I'm going to read all of them this week/weekend unfortunately because I have a lot of work to do.
A friendly reminder from your green-room OSHA representitive
Date: 2008-11-19 04:34 pm (UTC)1. Space heaters should be approved for commercial use by a recognized safety testing laboratory
2. Placed away from combustible materials
3. Make sure that the space heater has some type of tip-to ensure it will turn off automatically if knocked over.
Most extension cords are not rated for the higher power demands of space heaters and may become overloaded and catch fire. Therefore NEVER use an extension cord when using a space heater.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:47 pm (UTC)I'm feeling pretty good, because I just got over a cold that knocked me down for about a week and a half.
On another topic: I haven't had much of a response yet to my requests for feedback on my Philcon (http://www.philcon.org) panels. If you get a chance, please check out the questions for my Virtual Worlds panel (http://alycewilson.livejournal.com/88375.html) and my Writing Inspiration panel (http://alycewilson.livejournal.com/88796.html). I need as many responses as possible by midnight Friday, to assist my planning for those panels.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:57 pm (UTC)I can not WAIT to take my much needed afternoon nap (I don't nap usually, but Anya decided to get up at too early thirty this morning).
I am embarrassed to say I haven't read any of the entries yet. I usually have by now, too, at least read up to the last posted entry. I'm really looking forward to reading them, though. But of course after the nap or else my comments back would be, "Screw the entry, do you have a down comforter?" or, "Can you die of yawning so many times in a row?"
::glares at my doctor who is across town:: "You are such a meany for not allowing me to have more caffeine!"

Date: 2008-11-19 05:31 pm (UTC)And now we have realized that having the heater on at night is probably the reason we both keep waking up with sinus headaches. Stupid dried-out sinuses. So now we just leave it off. All the time.
A proposition
Date: 2008-11-19 06:09 pm (UTC)I joined this competition, in large part, to get my writing in front of talented authors and receive feedback. I've been successful at the first part, but not the second.
More musings on this topic here:
http://copyright1983.livejournal.com/19464.html
I'll make this simple, folks: Those of you who are willing to provide constructive criticism and advice on my writing will be under consideration for immunity, should you need it. Those who don't...well, you're on your own.
Bring your own red pen.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Mike

Space Heater with his friends Air Conditioner and The Radiator travel the Universe taking down enemies like Below Freezing and Heat-Wave. Saving people and aliens alike!
So, how am I doing? Weirdly is the word, weirdly!
SHOCKER of the week: Law & Order: SVU didn't suck!
NON-SHOCKER of the week: Steve Lewington being called DJ Gabriel and working a Das Wunderkind gimmick sucked really bad.

Date: 2008-11-19 06:28 pm (UTC)Gary, the same thing happened with my space heater here at work. It was pretty scary!
There are some really good entries this round.
Hopefully it will be a quiet afternoon.

Date: 2008-11-19 07:06 pm (UTC)It was telling a hundred stories in one and didn't work.
This week was one story about one criminal and his many crimes. It was a character study in undercover work.
It was perfect.
Last week, not so.. :( But to each his own.

Date: 2008-11-19 07:13 pm (UTC)On top of my blossoming depression, my family cat died this morning (http://spydielives.livejournal.com/1972386.html). I have had to go out and run errands anyway, because I can't get back to Kentucky to help comfort my kids right now.
I am going to just keep going until I drop, because stopping means I fail, and I just can't do that right now.
