On my way into work today I heard a couple of older white guys talking. Apparently the company they work for hires a lot of minorities who are getting promoted faster than they are, "They don't even speak good English!", and there is only one male senior executive in the entire company.

I don't understand it. My journal was originally intended as a repository of my rants. The title, "A Flame About This High" is even a reference to ranting.

I am cranky, and not in that Model-T sort of way. I suppose it could be worse. I could know what was wrong and choose not to do anything about it. Instead, I know it is just some chemical imbalance thing and it will pass on its own.

Going on in my world: Really nice night of quality sleep. It's amazing to me how important this is to my mood.

It's cold and rainy outside and I'm enjoying the atmosphere in the house. It's perfect for catching up with idol entries. I've been really enjoying this topic. I really thought I wouldn't, too, and so I'm glad that I was proven wrong. : )

I'm re-reading With a Tangled Skein by Piers Anthony. I read most of the Incarnations of Immortality series (this is the third), but couldn't get through the 5th book (I got bored with it) and I've since heard that the 6th book is the best of the series, but you have to have read the other 5 to really understand it. Well, since the last time I read them was in middle/high school, which was *mumblemumble* years ago, I thought I should go back and re-read them all.

My head exploded a lot when I was in College and then it exploded a lot when I got married and had Anya at first. Right now I'm enjoying a hopeful non-explosive year a head of me.

I was amazed to find out that there's actually a sleeping condition called "Explosive Head Syndrome" where someone wakes up to a loud sound, bright lights and such. It seems to be linked to epilepsy if I remember correctly. It sounds absolutely terrifying, but I think I'd like to experience explosive head syndrome once just to have that experience.

I'm wrestling with a headache, but otherwise ok. Also wrestling with SAD to a greater degree than ever before. Feh. Currently scoping out light boxes and dawn simulators online.

My husband has a colonoscopy tomorrow, so today is drinking tons of Miralax and gatorade, and only gets to have juice, jello and broth. He's not having too much fun :-(

I still have to do my rant. After working on being calm last week and this, I'm a little hesitant to get all worked up about something :-P

But it's sunny out, and I have nice coffee :-)

I want to comment back to your mention of your husband's colonoscopy, but I can't think of a way to do it gracefully without sounding absolutely crazy.

hmm ::thinking:: Lets just say that I've been looking into the possibility of going back to school to become a proctologist. I wish I was making that up. It seems every time I mention it to my family members, they think I'm joking. : (

That said, I'm interested in colonoscopy right now because there are some new breakthroughs in gastrointestinal devices that are less intrusive which I think is awesome.

I'm definitely doing better than yesterday. I had gastric distress from an unknown source... couldn't pin it down to a particular food, though.

Holiday orders are starting to come in... a refreshing sign in this economy.

I'm waiting for thirty cartons of toys to descend upon my doorstep within the next 24 hours, which means I'll be sending out something like 200 packages between now and Saturday morning.

If only a particular phone call with a particular positive result would come in, I might actually be... happy. Shocking!

I NEED to study for my Statistics midterm tonight though. I have been putting it off... and it's tomorrow :/

I have resisted the temptation to repost that meme in my journal, but usually when I post memes people don't reply, so I've kind of given up on them.

Apparently Friday and Saturday it's supposed to be like 95 degrees here (from like 60 on Monday). I wish I understood weather. Maybe I should have taken that climatology class this quarter. Buttttt I won't be here! Chris and I are going on a mini vacation to see his mom up in San Jose :)

I finally put together my awesomely spectacular NaNo Space Soundtrack.

I'm very pleased with it. 70 spacey songs...my only sadness is that I couldn't find any videos of Keller Williams singing Pets or Victory Song, so I'll have to listen to those elsewhere. I had a bunch of techno crap, but I dropped most of it cause I really don't like techno very much.

I'm new to YouTube, so if you think that's as cool as I do, add me as a friend. ^_^

Other than that, I now have no excuse to put off writing. I saw a NaNo rant too, so don't hate me for gushing a wee bit! I do it for the deadline and camaraderie. Funny that, same reasons I'm doing therealljidol. I've been writing more in the last couple months than I have in the last year combined. Writers block mostly defeated!
