Green Room - Week 6 - Day 4

When I was a boy my Mother used to wake me up in the dead of night and say "You need to post a Green Room". When I would complain she would tell me "It's no picnic for me either buster", and then go out and kick a hippie.

I learned some important lessons throughout my life but the two that stuck with me were posting a Green Room and that sometimes hippies just need to be kicked.

The funny thing is that back then there was no internet, and as hard as it is to believe no Idol as we know it. That doesn't mean it wasn't around though.

My grandfather, Patton and my opponent used to hang out in a "Green Room" of their own. But that was just a room that they painted green. They used to write their entries up on the chalk board and hope people came by and to see them.

But no thing has not - the American Spirit may have been challenged, but it has never been broken. It lives on, in all of us, even damn foreigners. It is the hope, the dream, that one day anyone regardless of their background can one day grow up and become the next LJ Idol!

Regardless of background? Sometimes I cry myself to sleep at night despairing of how to beat the odds to become the first full-hippy Idol. I tried to go to the papers with my Hippygate woes. I was heart-broken when they laughed and said, "Kicking hippies sounds like a damn fine idea!" and then the ones who weren't close enough to kick started throwing things.

Ah, Thursday. Most of the week gone by, with the promise of a weekend just a day or so away. School, work, schoolwork, and more, but that weekend is beckoning, just another day to wait and it'll be there.

i haz a cold. i would give anything to be able to call in sick, but i'm only working a half day anyway. this afternoon i go to get my kidneys poked and prodded and scanned. hopefully nothing has changed and i don't have any stones. (or if i do, they give me some damn good pain medication, hehe)

Good morning Greenies! It's cold out and I only have two pairs of cold-appropriate pants to wear to work. I need to either get my behind to the thrift store and find pants (I'm a large size, so it's always hard to find secondhand clothes), shrink myself overnight to fit the ones I have, or do a lot of laundry and hope my co-workers don't notice...?

Now I need to get my mind off my wardrobe and onto my entry for this week. I've always had it up by now but this wee? No dice :(

Well, I felt like absolute crap yesterday, so I just slogged through work, came home, read messages, and crashed. Today I have a mammogram (woo hoo) and the every-two-weeks zillion vials of blood giveaway, which hopefully will explain why I've been feeling like absolute crap.

I also need to get my paycheck so I can do some grocery shopping...

Somehow in the midst of all this Halloween party planning, (costumes and 40 people in my house...I have SO much BAKING to do...) I managed to remember to dress myself and get to work on time. Oh, and write the Idol entry. That, too.

Early voting today! It's really an excuse to leave work early. Somehow, it's an excuse that flies.

Just finished doing my morning family taxi service, now I need to change hats and be the morning housekeeping service (not to mention babysitting/3 year old entertaining service).

Speaking of which, catching up with people I went to high school with on Facebook. The other day, one of them complained in her status that the housekeeping service they tried was awful. Another classmate responded telling her how great *her* housekeeper was and gave her the info ($75 for "a couple of hours" is apparently cheap for housework?).

I ...have no words. Well, other than to say "I can haz housekeeper too?". ;)

I can't afford my housekeeper right now, and it's driving me crazy, because I love her and it's awesome. When I can afford it, I usually have her come down twice a month and pay her between $150 and $200, depending on how long she's there (usually between 8 and 12 hours). She does my cat litter, scrubs everything from head to toe, organizes things, shampoos my rugs. I <3 Loretta.
