I have my English 402, Poetry, class this evening, but I'm giving back the midterm, on which almost everybody did really well. One kid flunked outright, and since the midterm was 20% of the grade, he's... not doing so well overall now. I hate it when that happens. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I can't save all the starfish, any more than my boyfriend the doctor can, but it doesn't stop me wishing I could.

That's really touching, that you worry about your students like that. I've had a lot of lecturers who appear almost to enjoy giving bad grades - there should be more like you about!

I'm up at 6:30 am Hawaiian time. This is really messing with my sleep schedule, LOL.

But on the plus side, I'm out on the lanai (mostly 'cause it's where I get the best signal) and it's not raining today (it rained yesterday morning) so that's really nothing to complain about, and I haven't dropped anything off the lanai into the pool yet... ;)

I definitely don't want to go to class today, but since it's 1% off your grade for every time you miss class without a doctor's note, I suppose I should go.

Other than that it looks as though my day's going to be filled with cleaning the house, taking care of a semi-ailing wife, and handling the dogs.

Hmm.

Its my only day off for this week today, & then I leave for Tenerife on Friday, so today is a day of Euros, packing, waxing, fake-tan purchasing & general panic. Oh, & a suture removal & trip back to the dentist to check up on the pain I'm having following a filling... I'm almost glad I start my run of three 12hr shifts tomorrow, so I can hit pause on life for a bit!

Productive day so far, apartment is more or less in order and grocery shopping has been done, but sheesh I never knew razorblades were so expensive! Good thing you don't need those to fight zombies or it'd be recession all over ;)

Did all that yesterday. I was frankly surprised to see the husband haul THREE bags of trash out of the rec room (otherwise known as his personal bachelor hole, no girls allowed!) In less than an hour we had the house respectable enough that his Martha Stewart clone mother could have visited and been happy.

Today I'm decorating. We bought new bedding for the guest room.

It's still walk in and my coworker can't come to work because she's sick so I get to handle 200 anxious students all by myself at the front desk.

Definitely Monday.

On the plus side, had a fantastic time at OVFF (Ohio Valley Filk Fest) so I'm ready to hit whatever gets pitched at me today.

Well I am not as done with the laundry as I thought I was. Ariel cleaned her room and amazingly I have another two loads of laundry!

It's a very interesting vote this week, I think. So far my entry's holding up, but that could change. The trick is to remember that, wheras you usually write in LJ for yourself, in Idol all that matters is what otehrs think of what you've written ... or who has the biggest friends list *GRIN*, which is one area where I simply won't compete.

Biggest challenge for me this weekend has been to move my domain (http://www.ogts.net) over from UltraHost (http://www.ultrahost.us) to DreamHost (http://www.dreamhost.com). Tonight I'll rebuild the Website. Thankfully I had the sense to backup the old one, I almost forgot to do that.

Rhonda and I took Abbi to a "Goblins in the Garden" Halloween festival at the Ladybird Johnson Center in Austin last night and had a really good time. We climbed a tower to eat brains (green and yellow smushed-up jello) and felt very zombie-ish. Pre-schoolers are so cute and so into their fantasy world, that when she was handed her dixie cup of "spider juice," she looked quite dubiously at it and said she didn't want it. (did you know spider juice tastes an awful lot like fruit punch?)

I can finally get into LJ! FINALLY.

I didn't get to vote for all tribes because my LJ access was intermittent all day yesterday, and we had an adventure last night.

Yesterday we took the babe to our church's Halloween party. We dressed him as Darth Vader. Awesome. The party was great, and he had a great time. And the moms and dads had a pretty good time too. I met one woman whom I had only known through the internet before, and another who lives nearby and has a daughter the same age as the babe, AND a husband who is also an aerospace engineer.

Then we got home, changed the babe, and left to go shopping, and realized, with the horrible feeling that comes with it, that we had locked ourselves out of the house.

So it was a long night for all of us.
