Dear friends, 

I can't believe that you are sitting here online while the Olympics are on TV!  Go root for Team USA!  And for our non-American friends, keep rooting that your country earns those medals!

I was always amazed by the Olympics.  How all of the countries can come together and put their differences aside to compete.  How they can become friends with people they've never known before but bond because they share a love for their sport?

Wait, isn't that what Idol does, too?!  We put our differences aside to compete for that treasured icon (and bragging rights)!  We become friends with people from other countries, too!  (*sends out Aussie and UK love*)  We meet because we love to write.  And even when the competition is through, we are still friends.  Isn't that amazing?!

I haven't watched one iota of the Olympics this time around. I have no explanation either *shrug*

However, I think we should all chip in and get Spydie something nonprescription to help with her toofy issues. Remember, the watch phrase is No Bacon.

I'm losing a lot of perfectly good sleep by watching the olympics but oh how I love to watch.

Let's see, my favorite sport? Many are my favorite. Swimming, gymnastics, cycling, equestrian, and some track & field.

I think they need to get rid of table tennis. Come on, it is a fancy way of talking about ping pong. Shakes head!

I like the idea of adding bowling. Why? Cause that would be the sport I would want to compete in. LOL!

Grabs brownies and coke but stays way far away from bacon. Ewww!

I stopped watching after those young hotties Lukin and Campbell won. Hrmm... WHAT!!??

I'm hoping I can figure out when the taekwondo competitions are. Watch them be all this weekend when I won't really find time to watch TV. There will be one in the hotel room, but I'm guessing it'll stay off unless I can convince my girl and our roomie to have it on.

Can we please get rid of water polo? It's the dumbest thing ever. Then we can add actual POLO... ya know... with horses!

If you can't guess that I would've pursued an Olympic wrestling career if I was going to do anything, then you don't know me. I know, I know... a lot of people don't know me. That would be it though.

Now I do not miss the clicky boxes and no more food for me today. Okay, one brownie. I am going to gym tonight.

An Olympic side story that nobody will read:

I was at Georgia Tech in 1996, when it became the Olympic village...let me tell you that these athletes do a lot more than put aside their differences and become friends...they also go through a ridiculous amount of condoms and buy up all the American porn they can find. After their events, it pretty much becomes a sexual free for all....

I am completely exhausted from staying up and watching the Olympics! My favorites have always been gymnastics, diving, and pole vaulting (they are freakin' amazing!) but this year I am really into swimming. Also I think the decathlon is completely amazing. They should of course add back in baseball and softball.

I miss clicky boxes.

Meanwhile, I'm so tired! We start the DVR and start watching an hour late so that we can run through what we don't want to see, but we're still up until midnight!

If I could be in an olympic sport, I'd love to be a gymnast. Some of you may know that I'm as klutzy as they come. Just for once in my life, I'd like to be graceful and elegant. haha riiiiight, Wok. ;)

I'm suffering from serious writer's block, but hopefully I'll be able to change that when I need to. :-)

I had a hard time choosing just one favorite olympic sport. So, I'm going with three- diving, rowing and basketball.

I think Scrabble should be an event at the next olympics. To make it into more of a sport, maybe it could be a floating scrabble game. Yes, I'm tired, which is why my response is a little strange. :-)

The general consensus amongst my coworkers is that table tennis should go. It's a sport, most definitely, but I'm not sure it really fits in with sports such as swimming, hockey etc.

Kayaking would have to be the sport I'd love to compete in. I'm not the fastest rower, but it'd be fun giving it a go, anyways!

While I certainly don't object to the Olympics, and while I most certainly agree with your sentiments about getting-alongedness (new word) and all that, the Olympics is just not something I could ever get into. To me there is only one sport, Canadian football. Go Bombers.

I am really looking forward to LJ Idol starting up. It will be hitting at a point in my life where I could really, really use the diversion in an attempt to retain what shreds of sanity remain.
