From the Intern ewok_626:
Welcome to August! Less than a month until September, the official start of LJ_Idol Season Five! *starts prodding Gary to start the new season early*
As some of you may know, I love music. I'll sing until my throat hurts. In fact, when I had to work late on Thursday, I was singing my lungs out. Good thing no one else was at work!
So tell the Wok Music Master: What is your favorite song? What lyrics touch you the most? What song can you absolutely not stand? Any requests?!
*turns on the Juke - "Summer of 69"*
Oh yeah. There's pie and ice cream over on the table. Just because I think all of you are totally fierce. And I know all of you like pie... :^)
ONE MORE MONTH!
~Intern Wok

Date: 2008-08-11 06:45 pm (UTC)My favorite songs are things by Aerosmith, Big Star, Buckcherry...
Lyrics that hit are when I really seriously can relate... there are songs I use to love just cause... but then years later, I lived the song and it'd be "yeah... wow, it was just like that!"
Do me a favor? Don't play anything by The Pussycat Dolls. I'm even sick of their new song.

Date: 2008-08-11 07:05 pm (UTC)I haven't actually paid for any, but I do enjoy one or two of their foot-tapping ditties.
If you know which crazy tunes I might be referring to...

Date: 2008-08-11 06:46 pm (UTC)....it will be a happy Monday when it's 7 and I get to go home. Today not a good day in the land of my cubicle of doom.
My favorite song right now?
Being I am in a not so happy mood, it's either Living on a Roll and Prayer or Making Love Like Geek by Hot Waffles which is a band that plays at one of the sci fi cons that I go to. It's geeky, it's cheesy and makes me feel better.

My favorite song from 1969? Or of all time?

"One" by Aimee Mann
"Army" by Ben Folds
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day
"Lithium" by Evanescence
"Outsider" by Chumbawumba
"Dear Mr. President" by Pink
"All You Need Is Love" by the Beatles
"I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick
"Cactus" by David Bowie
"We're Going To Be Friends" by The White Stripes
"Rock and Roll Heart" by Lou Reed

Hope all are doing well.

Date: 2008-08-11 07:21 pm (UTC)My music taste changes depending on my mood, the time of day, and the weather. At the moment, I can't get enough of Jason Mraz. I've always had a great big music crush on him because he has really good melodies and beautiful, meaningful lyrics. Also, he's adorable.
Right now, I have two of his songs playing on a loop on my iPod: 0% Interest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwt6jSqowz0) and Galaxy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW7OXg5g2eU).
I'm excited for the start of LJ Idol. Not so much looking forward to fall. This'll be the first time ever I don't return to school and that's intimidating. I'm turning into a grown up.

I confess -- I love disco. I've got maybe 4 or 5 CDs I ripped from my iTunes list. I'll agree a lot of it is cheesy, but it makes me want to move...and DANCE!
You should see me at work when "Disco Inferno" comes over the satellite PA system...
:)

Date: 2008-08-11 07:39 pm (UTC)Wait... you don't want to see that.
No one should see me doing that.
Nevermind.

Date: 2008-08-11 07:37 pm (UTC)My favorite songs change, but for me you can't go wrong with either Barenaked Ladies, Alice Cooper, Wilson Phillips, or Abba! (yes, I'm eclectic)
Songs I can't stand are few and far between, but Hotel California is right at the top.

Date: 2008-08-11 07:43 pm (UTC)It is also one of those songs that my older son and I will sing together.
We both have not-so-great voices, but together, we do all right.

Date: 2008-08-11 07:52 pm (UTC)Least liked: Anything by Macy Gray. She needs to be dragged out into the street and shot. Or at least slit her throat. Ugh.
The current song stuck in my head: Usher's "Yeah"
*is astounded to see that over half of the pie is already gone*

Date: 2008-08-12 11:54 am (UTC)I'm quickly stopping by on my way to bed, as my new job requires me to be up at around 4am. *sighs*
Right now my favorite song is Our Last Summer by Abba, off the Mamma Mia soundtrack. I've been to see the movie twice, now, and am planning on going a third time late at night, just so my friends and I can sing, loudly, without too many people having to listen to us. :-)
I don't have any specific lyrics that I like. As long as they remind me of someone or a time in my life, or are romantic, I like them.
Before I go, I have to say this. What? No Cheetos and Pepsi? *g* Where's
Looking forward to season five! Hurry up and bring it on, Gary! :-)
