Good evening.

Still going "Whoa!" at the polls earlier today. I think we're in for a number of surprises as this thing plays itself out. Eventually though we will have one winner (and of course we will have to take the second place finisher out back to shoot them.*g*) and our next LJ IDOL!!!

So now that things have calmed down again, what did you do with your day, and what's on the agenda for tomorrow?

Ah yeah!

Here is how my original "TOP 10" went down.

When were at 89 contestants, I picked them.

I lost three to "real life" (they withdrew). I do not consider these to be actual *losses* per se, because there is no way for me to know how far they would have gone in the competition. However, for the sake of this comment, they are out of my tally.

I lost one to the contestants-only vote.

I lost one to the gatekeepers.

I lost one to a community vote.

That leaves... *drum roll*

FOUR of my original predicted TOP 10 - still in the TOP 10.

And that is why I carefully did not say who people should vote for, or recommended specific entries, even though I *cringed* each week to see my potential winners potentially fall by the wayside. I did not want to tamper with my predictions.

You did pretty darn good.

Although the real life withdrawals, yeah, you've got to count them. That's how the ball bounces. It's part of the fun in making long range predictions, because there are just so many variables that can come up that there's no reasonable way to plan for all of them.

You've just got to do the best you can, and you did pretty well.

I suspect there are one or two people out there who might be... annoyed... with me and my top 50 and top 10 predictions, because they are convinced that I did not include them on either (or both) lists.

They are probably right that they were not there, (though maybe not) but if so it was NOT because they were not a talented writer.

I tried to consider things like how likable the contestant was, or how much attention they drew to themselves early on, or how controversial, or supportive to others, or supported by others, or annoying ...

I didn't post the Laws of Power last week just to fill my journal with fluff. It really isn't just about the writing, no matter how much some of us might want it to be.

I keep hearing good things about it, although the bit at the end was spoiled long ago. (Not mentioning it just in case other people haven't seen it yet)

After the mess Marvel has made with the character in Civil War, I'm extremely reluctant to give them my money. . . I'm just stubborn that way.

Glad you enjoyed it though! I'll have to see if I have any Robert Downey Jr's in the warehouse. They've been on back order for awhile now, but one of them might have come in with the latest shipment.

I managed to spend today reading, chatting on the phone, shopping, and sewing on a new corset. I failed at fixing my web cam, but Sunday is another day.

And speaking of Sunday, I plan to see a movie, finish this pretty corset, and then try to sell it.

We were almost to see Iron Man tonight, except we got waylaid at Ye Olde Watering Hole *g*

We have a friend who's trying to convince us to move to TX. TEXAS?!?!? No offense against anyone living there, but it's a complete 180 degree turn compared to life up here where I've been all my life. I only visited the Metroplex area and I was not impressed in the least (sorry superhappytime.

Now I realize there are different areas of the state. I've been told I'd probably be more amenable to San Antonio or Austin where my cousin is. our friend lives in Amarillo. The only things I know about Amarillo are 1) the water's horrible, and 2) there are meatpacking plants there.

BUT...we could buy a house for 71K and live like kings.

I would second the thought that you'd enjoy San Antonio or Austin. Beyond that, though, I can say I really didn't like it there. Granted, I didn't see the entire state, but I saw enough to know it didn't agree with me.

Went to the Mall of America today and did a bit of shopping, then went and saw Iron Man, loved it! and then came home to work on some homework before starting the homework, checked emails and LJ where I saw a few posts directed to my ex where I put two and two together and figured something happened to my ex father in law. Gave the ex a call and found out his dad passed away a few days ago. I told the ex that he would be in my thoughts and prayers along with the rest of the family.

Now watching some Star Wars Ep. 3 and working on homework.

I was really sick Friday night. I hope I'm no where near that sick again for a very long time. Yesterday I gradually began feeling better, but I went to bed really early (7:30!), so now I've had eleven hrs sleep, and I seem to be much improved. We'll know more when I've eaten something.

Today I'm supposed to make a cake. We'll see how I feel when I'm vertical. Also, I must do some laundry. Nothing adventurous, though.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Iron Man. I've always liked RDJ as well. He was really good. Some of the effects were lost on me but I could follow it pretty well and it was fun. And libra_dragon, I want to go back to the MOA. I loved it there. I loved Minneapolis in general. I was there last summer.
I watched Fashion day on the Q and only came away with 2 pairs of pants. Not good at all. Today we're having steak on the grill for dinner and I'm not sure what else is going on. I have tomorrow off and may go to another movie. We'll see.

Wow. Crazy weekend for me! I didn't get to say it, so congratulations to all of us!

I spent yesterday at the Nationals game again--day game this time and it was the perfect day for a ballgame. Every single play counted up until the very last minute, too, and that game had a little bit of everything with the exception of good pitching. hah. Good fielding, bad fielding, good hitting, very bad hitting, and very bad pitching ;)

Then I came home and babysat for one of my babysitters' kids. I brought my cursed laptop with me and then forgot to get their network key from them before they left. d'oh.

Today, I'm doing an open house at a $500k house. I really really want to sell this house today. That would totally make my month.

Just found out that this week I guess I'm going to Harrisburg! John made plans for us to go see our friends down there. So much for me trying to find and start a part time job, right?! *sighs*

Also found TWO tankinis for the beach yesterday at an Ebay shop here in town. Spent $24 total! (Hooray for no sales tax on clothing in PA!)

Friday afternoon we got a kitten! We've already got three grown-up boy cats (Arhcer, Tucker, and Malcolm) who will be 3 years old in July. We used to have four cats, but my boy Tigger had to be put down at the end of December, so we've had three ever since.

So on Friday, my housemate was at Pet Smart getting herself a new fish tank, and the Humane Society was there doing pet adoptions, and they saw this adroable 8-week old girl kitten, called up my hubby to see if he'd mind a fourth cat (he didn't), called me up to see if I was interested in a girl kitten (I was), and adopted her for us.

We named her Kara (aka "Starbuck"), and this is she:
