Good (very early) morning!
Happy May to you. . . why do I have "First of May" by Jonathan Coulton stuck in my head now?*g*
But around here we like to call it Month 7/Sprint Month (the final full month). Hope you've got on your running shoes!
So what have you been reading that's struck your fancy?
Anyone have any big May Day/Beltane/Lei Day/'Obby 'Oss/Black Prince Day/Maydayrun/Roodmas/Loyalty Day/International Workers Day/Mother Goose Day/Save the Rhino Day/Space Day/Golden Week plans??
***
Edit to add: What happens in Vegas doesn't need to stay there! You, yes YOU, can get your very own postcard from LJ'S OWN
kithan as she stumbles through that city next week!
All you need to do is send an email with your address to her at hockeykit@gmail.com!

Date: 2008-05-01 04:33 am (UTC)Technically, she'll still be the boss until someone is hired into her position (we're hoping to promote another team member to boss, since he's qualified for it) but that may take a few months. *sigh*
Also, I have an eye doctor appointment today, which at least means I can get an updated prescription to replace the scratched lens in my glasses, and hopefully can get a surgery date scheduled to get rid of the gorram cataract. w00t. :)

Date: 2008-05-01 12:27 pm (UTC)For MayDay:
Date: 2008-05-01 05:15 am (UTC)I need to take care of the mail and some other housekeeping that I was hoping to have done today. FAIL!
Between such things, though, I'm going to have a bit of fun. I'll be planting seeds and a few other things, and I'd like to make a flower basket cake. Oh- and I just thought of people to take flowers to as was my tradition. W00t!

Date: 2008-05-01 06:45 am (UTC)So, what is Lei Day?
Only one state in Australia has a May Day/labor day holiday on Monday, and unfortunately it's not my state. :-(

Date: 2008-05-01 08:41 am (UTC)Happy Beltane to all those who celebrate it!! My coven had our May Pole out last weekend. But today I think I'll have to do something special with Ross to mark the occasion. ;)
Right now I'm having trouble keeping a BIG BIG secret, and I'm not allowed to say anything for a whole MONTH! Gah!!
Also, does anyone else get really annoyed with their parents for automatically jumping to the conclusion that you're pregnant whenever you say you have big news? It's especially disheartening when you CAN'T have kids, but your parents still ask you EVERY time you talk to them when you're going to have a baby.
Stupid parents. Gah.

Date: 2008-05-01 10:10 am (UTC)We have an emergency preparedness workshop today so that should be interesting. i think we have about 60 people coming.
I'm reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It started out slow but I'm now liking it. Vampire fantasy sort of thing.

Date: 2008-05-01 11:43 am (UTC)BTW - I posted something extra-special for you (filtered of course, unless you *want* me to share it beyond the group). I just didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle.
*laughing*
Loves you.

Date: 2008-05-01 11:43 am (UTC)So be gentle.*g*
Just wanted to make sure you knew.
Re: fyi
Date: 2008-05-01 11:44 am (UTC)ETA: Sorry... to explain... I got this mental image of Gary with a pencil behind his ear, focusing on the poll *real hard*, trying not to mess it up, and shouting GRAP when it went up wrong the first time.

Date: 2008-05-01 11:47 am (UTC)I just started Shark's Fin and Sichuan Pepper: A Sweet-Sour Memoir of Eating in China by -- get this -- Fuchsia Dunlop. Now can you walk past a book with a title like that? Never mind that I'm a food/travelogue nut *grin*

Date: 2008-05-01 12:27 pm (UTC)Clean up after all of the mess at my old desk -- where I'll start organizing my crap. (I'm so happy to be back in my old building again)
Otherwise I'd settle for waking up from my nyquil dreams -- which will happen about 4 pm no doubt.

Date: 2008-05-01 12:37 pm (UTC)I finished Cormac McCarthy's The Road last week. I am in the middle of Patricia Dunner's The Doctor, Orson Scott Card's Sarah and Chuck Palahniuk's Invisible Monsters.
I have about a dozen other books waiting for me, but those three actually have markers in them.
What am I going to try to do today? Same thing I try to do every day -
try to take over the worldtry to finish my to do list. Today that includes paying the rent, going to the bank, and ... oh wow that is all! It's May! The Merry Month of May.
Date: 2008-05-01 12:42 pm (UTC)Me, I've got visions of irresponsible Queens dancing in my head.

Date: 2008-05-01 12:53 pm (UTC)Work, more work, some work. I am leaving for Las Vegas on Sunday and have so so so much to get done before then.
Also, setting up the poll as much as I can for Gary so he doesn't lose his mind. (Not that he had one to begin with...)
And waiting. I should hear back about the job tomorrow.

Date: 2008-05-01 01:31 pm (UTC)Tonight I'll dash from work to rehearsal while wishing I had time for dinner, then around 9 when I get home I have a mound of clothes to fold. One can only avoid it for so long before it threatens to collapse and crush anyone who strays into the laundry room with an underpants avalanche!
I've been up for an hour and I already feel like a nap!

Guess I've got idol on the brain today, lol.

Date: 2008-05-01 02:02 pm (UTC)I've had Idol dreams too.
One VERY involved one a few weeks ago that involved a crazy road trip to meet up with Kithan and Gary at Sea World for a Cheeto exchange by the sting ray pool!!
