I enjoyed the two stage greenroom yesterday. It sort of gave everyone a chance to reflect. I agree with your comments yesterday the game lost some great writers.

I missed reading them last night, and I laughed and teared up when I just read them this morning.

So if I fix the burnout and do make it back next season... you might not even notice I'm here! *giggles*

I was... reading my season 3 entries the other day. Really, I'd gone back to figure out how many weeks of season 3 I'd played and when season 3 had started, and I ended up sitting down and reading through a lot of the entries while I was there. And I realized as I read that I was overall far more satisfied with my writing last season than this season. For all that I still rambled all over the place, I at least had a better tendency to start with a point and end with that same point.

Maybe when the job from hell is over I'll be better again. I can hope. I just wish I knew when that'll be. I'm beginning to suspect I'll still be collecting a paycheck when the year anniversary of my layoff date rolls around.

But for now? *waves to everyone in the Green Room and goes back to being the quiet chick in the corner*

I'm training The New Guy for the evening shift starting tonight. He's a middle school science teacher, so naturally we're all thrilled -- an adult! With a responsible FT job! They make the best PT employees, but I digress.

When I took Ember for a walk yesterday I was happily thrilled at some of our returning birdies. I'm waiting for the rest of them! Spring is actually here! Whee!

I'm headed into the office for a meeting, and then I have a one-on-one networking meeting this afternoon.

My first real estate transaction closed yesterday. It was just a rental, so not a ton of money and I probably won't see the actual money until the end of the month, but it feels good to have earned *something*.

I am sitting in on hour number 10 of our final presentations for our Sri Lanka projects. Outside it is raining. Hard. Inside, I am wishing my professor no longer existed.

Gary, thanks for pointing out just how much of a loon I am *snicker* - We all know it is true. I am STILL waiting for my pony.

Plans today include thumbing my nose at the White House, being chased by security, and talking my way out of Federal Custody, going to a museum with my mom, and scanning forty-year-old slides of me when I was a baby.

I might write a HG entry tonight, since I had an amazingly insightful dream...

What am I doing? Attempting to work while simultaneously contemplating my belly-button (so to speak).

I think I know at least one reason why I got voted out - put simply, although my writing is technically strong, it's not very emotional. I've read a bunch of mighty fine entries, and I think they have much more emotional impact than my own - the authors put more of themselves into it, I think. I am, by design, a somewhat reserved person, which is neither a good nor bad thing, but I think my reserve comes through in my writing. This isn't to say that I don't laugh and cry and get angry at times, but while I can be good with imagery I'm not strong with that emotional "connection" that others have.

Heck, lilmissmagic71's recent entry on Gadgets was probably more emotionally evocative than most of my writings (although I think my poetry is less reserved than my essays/fiction).

It's something for me to work on if I decide to compete next season, I guess.

For the record, I think you're a fine writer. And I'm not just saying that so you don't punch me in the face when we meet each other later this month. :o) But I do get you with the emotionally reserved thing. A lot of my earlier entries in the game kind of held back a lot, and it was pointed out to me that my votes were suffering for it. I often resorted to using humor a lot, as I do in real life to confront difficult issues, but that also keeps an audience from feeling like they're really connecting with you. It's hard, letting yourself be that exposed through your writing, I'm always afraid it's going to sound forced or like a cry for attention.

Coming in late today having had to knock myself out with Nyquil because my face felt like it was on fire (OK just one sinus cavity but still it hurt like stink) then while I was sleeping I managed to put my left fist into my eye and press so my eyeball is still getting back to normal but the sinus still hurts.

I know I am whining and I not proud of it, but ya think after the tooth thing that this sort of thing would not be happening *sigh*

I promise later to be my usually happy self. Just not right now.

We're enjoying the free "high" speed internet offered here at the Comfort Inn in Troy, AL. We blew off breakfast this morning for sleeping in (made easier with chocolate glazed, cream filled Krispy Kremes in the room) and surfing. I'm catching up a little on my flist; Critter is reading; Tigger is still asleep.

Later today, we're going over to the cattle ranch.

I was looking at my friends list, and noticed that Tdarling had unfriended me. So I went to her LJ, except it doesn't appear to exist.

Does anyone know if she's ok?

I hope she is, as I haven't seen a post from her, which could be because I'm very behind with my friends list.

Thanks, now I really must go back to bed, and hope the bad dream doesn't return.

Looks like she's deleted her journal. Maybe she just needed some time away from LJ. Some people feel that temporarily deleting their journal is the only way to really do that.
