Eliminations Week 20
Mar. 31st, 2008 01:06 pmBad news first. . .
This is the post I’ve been dreading making, because there really is no “good elimination post”, and given the amount of people going this week it was going to be hard regardless of who ended up on the list.
Unfortunately that is what happens, sooner or later everyone but one person is going to be eliminated from the game. It’s the nature of the beast.
I’m actually writing this before I know any of the results, before the first Gatekeeper vote has come in. I’m writing it, and saving it – because I know whatever happens it’s going to be tough to say goodbye. Thank you to all of you for writing your hearts out, anyone getting *this* far into the game has absolutely earned their spot.
I have no idea where this thing is going to bounce, but I do know whatever the outcome it’s going to be a group of amazing writers staying, and another group of amazing writers leaving.
The contestants who, unfortunately, did not make it past the Gatekeepers are:
(Note from 3/31: IT WAS CLOSE with a lot of you, and there certainly are some shockers… I’m going to go back through later tonight and say a little something personal, but for right now I better just cut and paste the names and hit send…)
*deep breath* The 11 leaving us today are:
chazari
jennielynn1127
laurelian
minikin
roina_arwen
sircaliban
spydielives
tryslora
twirlandswirl
walkertxkitty
wildcatwrites

Some good people on that list.
On the plus side, at least I finally got the first comment...

Date: 2008-03-31 07:15 pm (UTC)I didn't say because it's slightly unfair - I haven't had time to read all the entries every week and because I already knew I liked their stuff from earlier seasons I've seen more of those three than the other eight on account of choosing to read them more often!

Date: 2008-03-31 08:34 pm (UTC)I am so freaking honored by this - you have no idea.

Date: 2008-03-31 11:17 pm (UTC)A lot of my favorites were cut. Thank you Gatekeepers, and thank you LJers for making their decision so difficult.
I'm still going to hang out in the Green Room after this heartbreak for my friends in the slim hope that I can make the first comment some day.

Date: 2008-04-02 12:32 am (UTC)Another farewell
Date: 2008-04-05 07:09 pm (UTC)My initial reaction to reading the results of this round was shock. Not at my own departure; I was ready for that (regardless of who the gatekeepers were).
While I, and others apparently, believed my writing was strong enough to go further, it was no secret that I fully intended to leave the competition in a few more rounds, on my own terms. I did not want to take a slot that belonged to a better-deserving competitor, and I have already gotten far more from LJI than I had ever thought possible.
What shocked me? There were some others who I thought should have made it past this round, and frankly there are those who I do not believe either wanted to continue or deserved (based on round 20 submissions) should have. That is merely my opinion, and counts for nothing.
I am truly dismayed by the displays of negativity, poor sportsmanship, and rude behavior that I have seen since the announcement, from both former players and their fans. I have read "unfair tactics" and "I can do it better" in numerous journals.
Each contestant, by submitting their entry each round, agreed to whatever terms
I am saddened, but there is little I can do, except wish each person who has been touched, in one way or another, by this simple idea of LiveJournal Writing meets American Idol meets Survivor, the very best. We are all winners, in the end, if we want to be.
