Green Room, Week 18, Day 1
Mar. 10th, 2008 07:51 amGood morning campers!
I'm working from home today. The time change messed with me a little too much, methinks. Or maybe it was too much fun in a certain chat...
So how are you all adjusting to the time change? Or the 2-3 feet of new snow you have on the ground, depending on where you are. :-)

Date: 2008-03-10 12:58 pm (UTC)Getting up this morning was terrible though. I had my first horseback riding lesson in months yesterday and I'm SORE! I can't wait to get to the point where it doesn't bother me at all again.

Date: 2008-03-10 01:07 pm (UTC)Heh.
I am fighting off either a really bad head allergy or the start of a nasty cold, I can't tell which yet. *sniff sniff*
I have some chores to do which I put off all weekend, and I think I have one clock left to fix. I also plan to go for a walk later, if the wind stops howling.

Date: 2008-03-10 01:21 pm (UTC)Then it occurred to me when we returned home that it was the Daylight Savings shift -- i.e., we'd left around 9PM, our usual latest time.
I find that I have to force myself to go to bed because I'm just not tired when the magic hour arrives. It takes my body and bio clock a good 2-3 weeks to straighten itself out. Meanwhile I'll try not to be cranky.

Date: 2008-03-10 01:50 pm (UTC)I woke up with little difficulty this morning, although I'm beginning to think French Toast breakfast is code word for "stumbled into the kitchen late and bleary eyed." :)
I've already combine two spreadsheets (with multiple tabs), and showered - totally blowing the concept of baking soda scrub, I think. Tomorrow morning: more BS, less water.
Our snow is still thick in the shady bits of the yard, but bright green grass is showing through in the sunny parts.
On to house-cleaning day!
(Once I put a load of laundry in the washer, I can finished reading/voting.)

Date: 2008-03-10 02:19 pm (UTC)I'm going to take my Powerbook in for service today. It'll be a minimum of $100 just to find out what's wrong with it, but if it's just the hard drive (which is the nearly unanimous non-technical opinion of everyone I've discussed the issue with) then getting a new one installed shouldn't cost too much. I probably won't bother paying for data recovery because I've backed up the most important stuff (novel, short stories, school files, and software packages). I will mourn the loss of thousands of mp3s, however.
After I get my computer fixed, I'm going to finally do something I've been talking about FOR.EV.ER: Start my own writer's website. YAAAAAY!
The time change didn't mess me up as much as my irresponsibility with the clocks. Some got changed, many didn't, so I was confused all day yesterday and this morning!

Date: 2008-03-10 02:24 pm (UTC)Then I went into the kitchen to do a little baking, so I reset the microwave and the stove. When he came downstairs he freaked out for a second and then asked if I'd set the clocks or if he killed another hour that quickly. I was amused.

Date: 2008-03-10 02:52 pm (UTC)Not only we're not adjusting to the time change - we're adjusting to a new place and still trying to bloody clean the fucking crud out of the old one.
Fuck it was dirty...
sorry...
*needs caffeine or something*
I think I used too many four letter words this morning.
On a good note: starting a new job next week (hoping I can't even find the paperwork to fax out to them). It's not really a new job -- it's an old job from 1 1/2 yrs ago -- got it back because the asshole I couldn't stand left and is never coming back...
Just glad no workie this week...

Date: 2008-03-10 03:47 pm (UTC)It is a little chilly here today; although the sun is shining brightly the wind sounds like it is howling in the alley between the buildings.
I am in a soup mood, so I have homemade matzoh ball soup with fresh chicken stock, some latkes, applesauce and sour cream on the side, and nice fresh challah.
*Sets out bowls, small plates, and silver*

Date: 2008-03-10 04:06 pm (UTC)I could not get up for anything, until my husband came in with coffee. Bless him. Then, I couldn't get my kid to wake up. It was really freaky. He finally woke up while I was changing his diaper. No kidding.
My head is really not with it though. I got to the chiropractor's office, put keys in pocket, got kid out of the car and into the stroller and went to lock the car, only to find that I had no keys. Not in pocket. I went nuts trying to find them, and kept trying to call the husband or the best friend, either of whom could have talked me through finding them, but neither answered their phones. So, I had a little breakdown right there in the parking lot because I was tired and my kid was being a crank, and I couldn't find my damned keys, and I had to have them because I JUST got out of the car. And then some heavily bronzed woman in an Escalade came over and told me that I needed professional help if all this was over keys.
Seriously. I thought she was going to turn me in to the crazy police. She followed me IN TO THE chiropractor's office. Thank goodness I calmed down quickly.
So that was my morning.

Date: 2008-03-10 04:49 pm (UTC)1. Have nothing planned on Sunday
2. Decide to go to sleep at 4:00am
3. Stay up (preferably with friends) past the 2am->3am mark, and note that it is suddenly later than you thought it was
4. Go to bed at 4:00am DST
5. Sleep until rested
The point is to trick yourself into believing you would've stayed up until 4am standard time, so you don't *really* lose an hour of sleep
