The Wheelhouse - Week 12
Oct. 15th, 2025 12:35 amI know a don't post a lot lately. It's not that I don't have a lot of say. It's just that it's a lot of the same. I'm really grateful though that people seem to be enjoying/tolerating this Wheel concept. :D
The new poll is happening right now - https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1205156.html
Definitely go check it out if you haven't. The one thing that hasn't changed is that there is a lot of really good writing happening here.

Date: 2025-10-15 02:55 pm (UTC)For work, one of my current tasks is to read through an online file with many different math expressions, and identify areas where speech and braille access can improve. For example, if the speech says, "1 over x plus 2," what's actually in the denominator, just x, or x plus 2? I'm about half way through reviewing the file with screen reader number one, and then its on to screen reader number two! It's the definition of tedious, until the speech really flakes out! "Arc RT" becomes "Quantity RT with frown above." WHAT?
I thought there were some really great entries this week. Several people took the prompt to unexpected and interesting places. Good luck to everyone!

Date: 2025-10-15 05:46 pm (UTC)Our son went off our insurance at his last birthday, and had a filling fall out about one week afterward. He was eligible (via work) for new insurance by then, but he had to get it set up, and then get an emergency appointment, and still had to pay out-of-pocket because fillings were not covered until 6 months in. That seems kind of bogus-- this wasn't a new filling. It was an old one that aged out. It's not like he spent 20 years eating Oreos every day and then finally had a chance to get treatment. :O

Date: 2025-10-16 03:57 pm (UTC)There are reading rules that define how expressions should be read, so that makes it a bit easier identifying when there's an issue, but the drudgery remains. :)
Yikes, what happened to your son sounds completely bogus to me! In my opinion, either coverage has started or it hasn't, not some in-between state.
