A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:
Can you feel that? That’s the tension in the air as we head toward our Top 50.

Any moment there could be a massive bye-out that takes us to 30. Any step could be a misstep. Every move could be the last.

Or, this could be the week where someone takes things to the next level, where they make their case for why they are a serious contender. Considering how wide open this field is, we’ve seen that, at this point, that just about anyone in the competition could do exactly that.

Current Events has become a regular feature, to force people outside of their comfort zones to actually talk about the things going on in the world around them, and how they relate to events in their own lives.

There have been some INCREDIBLE entries this week so I hope you take the time to read them and vote for your favorites.

Because that’s the only thing that is going to keep them in this hunt – your vote and your support.

This week two people were given the power to declare Sudden Death matches, one on one fights. Those two were [livejournal.com profile] dedamona and [livejournal.com profile] lacombe. Both of whom decided not to subject anyone to that fact.

The numbers of who are going is not going to change, just who it will be. The bottom 5 voter getters, over all (in both polls) will be leaving us.

Actually, since it’s probably the worst kept secret ever, make that 4. Because as of the moment this poll is posted, [livejournal.com profile] worldofcharlie has officially dropped out of the competition. So someone was just saved by this sacrifice. . .

Voting opens now and will continue until Monday Feb 11th at 1pm EST. Good luck to everyone!

Tech Support Note - Neither sleet, nor snow (not even 14"), nor dead of night will keep the poll from being posted. :)

Of course. There is a plethora of things about my life that will never be put into my writing for this contest, so I understand what you mean. I think it's a careful dance between your own comfort levels and what you're willing to share and be judged on. That is one thing that sometimes trips me up...when I do make an incredibly personal entry (see: what terrifies me round) and I have to come to terms with the idea that people will judge it and find it lacking.

I just scrolled back and re-read it. I read it the first time, but all the names were a blur back then and I didn't remember it was your story.

I honestly don't know if I can be that honest in a public forum. You are brave.

Well, the upside is that you can go back and friends-lock it, which I did after the polls closed. And to be perfectly honest? It felt kind of...freeing to put it out there. Almost as if it couldn't hurt me as much anymore.

I get that. When I was Home-Gaming, I elected to skip that entry, because I knew some things I could really write about, but I didn't want to, and I thought of some things I could pretend to write instead, but it felt fake.

That may be a difference between the home game and the actual game - forcing oneself into the choice.

I totally agree. My what terrifies me entry was the scariest thing I've ever revealed to people. I don't mind so much explaining things like that to strangers, but there are a lot of close friends who read my journal who never knew about that. The scars one was hard, too.

The scars entry was hard, I agree. But I actually love the more serious "delve into yourself" topics. Not only are they a writing challenge, but if you push yourself out of your comfort zones, it also becomes a personal challenge to take on. So not only do we have the chance (via this contest) to grow as writers, but also to grow as people.
