Green Room - Week 16 - 2

 I've been watching "The Deuce" on HBO Max. I missed it the first time around, so now I'm binging it. Or at least watching an episode whenever I can. 

I decided to start it after watching "We Own This City" - which is from the creators of the "The Wire" and suddenly had a lightbulb go off on the idea "Hey, I really like these two shows from these people, I should check out some of their other shows!!" 

So far so good. (just started season 2) 

It's funny, because of course if I like a book I will search out more books from that author. But for some reason I don't often do that with writer/creators of television (or even movies). Just every once in awhile I'll find something that start following it. 

Who are some of YOUR favorite TV writers and/or howrunners to follow?

and yes, this IS a second Green Room, despite the fact that you didn't really do much with the first one. :)  I'm going to chalk it up to the sheer surprise of it, and I was boring you with work talk.

I've followed a bunch of Ryan Murphy's shows. Joss Whedon (before I knew what an ass he actually was). JJ Abrams (though I guess after Lost I followed his movies rather than shows).

There might be others, but those are the ones I can recall off the top of my head. I think it's easier to follow what actors I like are doing because they're the faces of what I watch and enjoy.

LOL thanks for calling out my surprise there was already another green room when I hadn't even commented on the last one. I do like hearing your work updates though, Gary.

I follow ditectors, like Lasse Halstrom. The only movie he's made I didn't like was My Life As A Dog. I just didn't get it.

Since I am not Idoling I'm never sure if I should be in the green room, but I do read what you post.

Ro is correct. The entire point of the Green Room is that it is a space for the entire community. Which, I'll admit, isn't really a "Green Room" (a backstage place for the performers) but hey, when have we ever let that stop us! And those performers often bring their friends back to hang out anyway... :)

I must admit that most television bores me (and movies also do). However, I've been well-known to follow an author down very deep rabbit holes.

Oh we love TV, especially since we have so many streaming services. If you get the chance to watch Leverage, it’s very fun!

My family is in Lancaster, PA, this week, hanging out with my brother's family, who are down fr Vermont. I'll have to ser a calendar reminder about the prompt, because vacation time doesn't follow normal rules!

Totally understand this. I'll have company over the Labor Day long weekend and I'm already worried about getting whatever prompt I need to write, finished on time.

Then again, my visitor is an author, so she'll probably understand my need to bring my laptop and write a quick short story while we're people-watching at the State Fair.

Interesting! I don't think I've ever watched more than one tv show by the same creator. I could be wrong. Movies are different, of course!

J. Michael Straczynski is a household favorite- I think he wrote and directed pretty much every episode of Babylon 5 and offshoots thereof!

We watch a lot of TV. We rewatched all 5 seasons of Leverage and just re-started Leverage: Redemption. We recently rewatched all of Burn Notice; just re-started The Finder, and hubby likes to watch older series from his youth like the original Magnum PI, the A Team, etc.

JJ Abrams is about the only one I follow, if you can call it that. I would look into whatever the Duffer Bros might create next though...
Typically if Ron Howard and or Tom Hanks have a hand in something, I figure it's a win.
