 As the sun starts coming up, a producer tells flipflop_diva gunwithoutmusic  and halfshellvenus that they should go check their tree mail. 

When they get there, they see a basket of food waiting for them.

It's the breakfast that every Survivor waits for...  a reward for a job well done.

Yay!

I have to say, I am still absolutely floored to be here. I had hoped and done my best to plan and played my hardest, but I wasn't sure I would end up in the top three, even coming into the last Tribal Council.

I'm thrilled to sit with halfshellvenus and flipflop_diva at the finals. I still hope I win overall, but really... This is just crazy to me. Also, I can't believe this whole thing is almost over! What will I let consume my life now?!

I honestly didn't expect to be here either. I hoped so, and really, really wanted to be, but I definitely didn't expect it. I'm super grateful and very humbled, and I still can't believe it's actually happening — although I am super nervous about what is coming next!

I'm also super happy to be sitting here with you and halfshellvenus! I have zero idea which way the jury is going to lean, but I'm glad to be in such amazing company!

Whoo to all of us! I'm in amazing company, though I think that's been true since the 19 of us started out back on my birthday 5 months ago!

And is it the last day? I haven't watched Survivor in forever, and plus, I never know how Gary's going to work the theme into Idol.

Good luck to both of you in the upcoming finals. I'm expecting that if Gary plays it like real Survivor, we're going to have a Q&A session with the Jury before they make their decision. I'm real nervous about that part!

Good luck to you too! I am also super nervous about facing the jury and for all their questions. (Gary questions have been nerve-wracking enough this season!)

Not tarantula-eating scary, though. Geez, it's been probably more than 20 years since I watched the Survivor TV show, but some things really scar you for life stay with you. :O

Oh my gosh, I can't believe it's been 5 months! And awww, how cool it started on your birthday!

Well, if this were real Survivor, it would be the last day. They get breakfast and then usually burn their tribe flag and then final tribal council is that night. And then they wait like 10 months for everything to air on TV to find out who won.

But in Gary's world, this will probably not be the last day, since I expect final tribal council to take a couple days (especially if the jury can ask us questions) and then they'll have a couple days to vote, I would imagine. Although he hopefully won't make us wait 10 months to reveal the winner!!

lol Can you imagine? We go through Final Tribal Council and voting and everything and then he tells us he won't announce the winner until after the next regular season of Idol?

I had to go back and check when this started, and yes-- it was on my birthday (which is also wolfden's birthday, as it happens!). 19 people started out on 10/19, which seems like a secretly cool numerical thing to me because I R a geek like that.

I forgot that long gap between the final tribal council and the winner reveal. I can't remember why, though. So the winner doesn't start spending $$ right and left and spoil the ending so that nobody watches? So everyone can clean up look all fab before the end? Or just 4 the torture?

Awww, that is really cool! That's also cool that you and Wolfden share a birthday!

Mostly so no one can spoil the winner since no one knows the winner (except Jeff and the producers), but I think they also like the suspense of revealing it live, since they do a live reunion show and reading the votes is the very first part of it.

I can't remember if they did it this way the first couple seasons, but it's definitely been this way for years and years! The last season that we got ended after COVID had started, so they had to do the vote reveal and the reunion show over Zoom (but broadcast on TV).

This is so exciting! And also kind of scary.

I had hoped to be here at the finale, and tried my hardest to make that happen (one ghost-pirate / pie-thief / bridge-troll / feckless-friend / dream-farmer / office-bot / mythic-warrior / doomed-demon at a time). But I never expected that it would actually happen, especially with the incredibly talented array of writers we had when this season began.

I'm over the moon to be here with gunwithoutmusic and flipflop_diva! Wow!

And I did watch that video, eventually through my fingers: "Slow down, are you crazy? Don't nom all that fruit, it'll hurt you! Oh, god--you're actually chucking all that meat and grease in on top of everything you already ate? Have you forgotten the lesson of Ethan in Survivor Africa, and the fallout from those French fries?!?"
