Tribal Council - Merge Tribe 4
Feb. 2nd, 2021 04:29 pm *cue Survivor tribal council ominous music*
Come on in folx and take a seat.
Now we'll bring in the members of our jury... *camera pans over them as they come in, and take a seat across from the jury* jenwithapen, bittyjane, megatronix, impoetry, n3m3sis43, minikin25, wolfden, lawchicky819. bsgsix, and swirlsofpurple, voted out last week.
*Gary takes out a sealed bottle and sets it on the podium* We will get to that in a minute.
flipflop_diva - You described winning immunity as "a Survivor dream come true" - what other "Survivor dreams" do you have? Do you think that openly being as big of a fan of the game is a benefit or does it make you more of a target? How does having that necklace around your neck change your attitude toward tribal council?
halfshellvenus - You are in the opposite position this week. Last time you were safe. This time, you are in as much danger as anyone else, other than flipflop_diva. Did you feel the pressure as soon as you didn't win?
adoptedwriter - If people are voting off the person with the lowest total, that means it's either you or gunwithoutmusic this week. Why should people keep you around - what are you bringing that makes you the better choice to keep?
gunwithoutmusic - Same question to you. Are you ready to get your torch snuffed and go hang out in Ponderosa? Or is there something more you want to do in this game that makes you worth keeping?
eeyore_grrl - You were the alternate target last week. Does dodging that bullet mean you feel like you are in with the numbers? Or does that just move you up on the list of people who are in line to go next? 2 people wanted you out. Do you expect to see your name written on parchment this tribal council?
murielle - You've talked quite a bit over the the course of the game about supporting your friends. At this point - is there anyone left who isn't your friend? Or is there a hierarchy? When you say "I didn't want this for you" as people leave - who DID you want it to happen to?
bleodswean - As the options for who to vote for get fewer, how do you decide on who to vote out? You've said you don't always understand other people's process in making the decisions. What is yours?
alycewilson - You had that coveted second immunity last time around. But this time you are vulnerable. Where are you when it comes to deciding who to eliminate? Are you part of a larger group or more of a free agent waiting for a pitch? Or are you the mastermind planning the next great blindside?
*camera follows conversations as people answer, before coming back to Gary*
Oh, almost forgot. This bottle. I told you that we would talk about it.
It's sitting here. If you want it, stand up in front of everyone and come get it. The first one who contacts me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com gets it.
It will remain sealed until it's time to vote.
*a few minutes into the questions,
murielle stands up, walks over to the podium, takes the bottle, and returns to her seat*
***
Murielle selected the bottle, which ends the questions period for Tribal Council.
Murielle - please open the bottle. There are two notes in there. Please pass the one marked #2 to someone else.
Please let me know who you are giving it to.
***
*murielle looks over both notes for awhile as the tense tribal theme music plays for the home audience in the background*
Finally she stands up and hands the note marked #2 to
adoptedwriter
"Adoptedwriter - hold onto that until after the votes are read"
"Murielle, you can now open your note and read it to the group"
"SAFETY WITHOUT POWER. You must leave tribal council immediately and return to camp"
Congratulations murielle, you have survived until next week, and don't have to cast a vote. Head on back to camp. Good night.
***
As for the rest of you - the bottle has been open and the talking is over. It's time to vote.
Head on up to the urn and cast a vote for who you want to eliminate this week. (Send the vote to me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com by tomorrow, Feb 4th at 9pm ET)

If this does end up being, well, the end, I've had fun and it is an honor to write with ya'll. Also, just realistically, the names are getting fewer in uniquity and will be seen more and more. I am sure I am not the only one with these concerns.

Date: 2021-02-03 02:27 pm (UTC)Tribal Council Question 1
Date: 2021-02-03 06:51 am (UTC)At this point, Gary, I like to think that we are all friends, and so sending you a name for elimination is getting harder and harder each time we have to do it. Friendships have now crossed the team-loyalty barrier and I feel very close to Survivors who've never been on my team. So, again, very, very difficult decisions coming up over the next few days.
Is there a hierarchy? Yes, there is. Of course.
I try very hard to say what I mean, and to mean what I say, so, if I've written "I didn't want this for you" (and we know I did) I meant it.
As for the last part of your question, you know I'm not going to answer that. In fact, I'm a little shocked you asked. Well, actually, I'm a lot shocked.
Okay, I think that should do it. Would you like a cookie, Gary? For the question I didn't answer I'll give you a cookie. :-) I have never asked you what your favorite cookie is. What is your favorite cookie, Gary?
Anyone else want a cookie?

Date: 2021-02-03 12:53 pm (UTC)Not that I am any different than anyone else here, but I like to think I bring positivity, sportsmanship (sportspersonship?), humor, and compassion to the game. This past prompt gave me the chance to go out on a limb and even show more versatility too. Like Murielle, I have a nice l'il stash of cookies + other assorted treats and beverages, and I am happy to share!

Date: 2021-02-03 01:02 pm (UTC)A mastermind? I can't even convince my son to read instead of playing Minecraft during his school-day breaks while working at home!
I think that the numbers are so close these days that a lot of factors are going to be considered: overall portfolio of work is one of my strongest factors for my decision. My fellow competitors are certainly making it tough!

Date: 2021-02-03 02:25 pm (UTC)Am I ready to get eliminated? Ha! Of course I'm not ready to get eliminated; I'm trying to win this thing, just like everyone else that's left! Now, am I prepared to get eliminated, am I worried I might get eliminated? Sure. I think that anyone that comes into Tribal Council at this point feeling completely confident that they're going to stay in the game (other than the person wearing the Immunity Necklace) probably hasn't been paying attention to the game.
Even when I was sitting near the top of the polls, I always thought that there was a chance I could get the boot. Last week's Tribal Council finally took away the threat of a Pagonging, but that doesn't mean that I feel safe at all. And now, sitting at the bottom of the poll, all I have to say is thank goodness that I wasn't absolutely dead last. Nothing against adoptedwriter, of course, but it does make me feel a little bit better to think that people have a couple of choices in who to vote out.
Now, while last week's Tribal Council took away the Pagonging threat, I still saw a few votes go in a direction other than "voting for the weakest in the polls." Last week saw a good number of votes line up for what I would consider to be the "fair" vote, but it also really showed that people have their own criteria outside of just poll results to decide who they want to vote out. When I'm thinking about who to vote for, I'm still sort of in "Idol mode;" Tribal Councils and voting people out of the game is a lot harder than I ever expected it to be, and I feel like for me, it's good to have something concrete to point to right now as far as where my vote goes. I don't want to see anyone go. I know someone has to every week, but the further along we get, the more all of our interpersonal relationships build up through the Watch Parties and the Tribal Councils and stuff like that, the harder and harder it is to see these people that I really like get eliminated from the game.
We're all busting our butts here, and we all want to win. I do feel somewhat comforted by the fact that it looks like some people are using metrics other than poll performance to decide who to vote for; that's good for me, because I think I've put out some good work this season, and I hope that people like me enough both personally and as a writer to want to see me stick around. But at the same time, I did see a majority of people last week that seemingly used the poll results as their deciding factor, so being at the bottom of the poll makes me nervous and I don't love being in that position. I guess time will tell what will happen - if it makes a difference, I love you guys!

Date: 2021-02-03 04:29 pm (UTC)As I've admitted, strategy is not my strong suit. I'm fascinated by the strategizing of others but I think now all of that planning of moves, etc, is for naught. There's too few of us and, for the most part LOL, we consider one another friends. I am going to rely heavily on the writing now.

Date: 2021-02-03 05:58 pm (UTC)It has just stopped snowing. The sun is shining and it was snowing through the sunshine. I LOVe that! So pretty.
I'm not talking about voting because I don't want to think about it until I absolutely have to.

Date: 2021-02-03 06:28 pm (UTC)It is one of my Survivor dreams! I think everyone who plays Survivor (at least the tv version) wants to have that moment where Jeff (or Gary!) puts the Idol around their neck. Not only does it mean you're safe but it's just such a huge Survivor moment to get to have that happen.
My other Survivor dreams — well, first was to make the merge (and the Jury if this was real Survivor, but we all make the jury here lol). And now, I want to make the Final Three, hear Gary say "And the winner of Survivor Idol, and the sole Survivor, is flipflop_diva!" and then be invited back for All-Stars :) Only half kidding on that last part there, but also I'm pretty sure the top three and winning is everyone who is left's dream. I doubt anyone here is playing and not wanting to win.
As for being a target, well, I'm pretty sure the chop challenge last week proved that people do think I'm a threat, and I feel like being a Survivor fan is a big part of that. But it's okay. I never tried to hide it. When this game first started, I tried to use all my Survivor knowledge to help my tribe (even when it didn't work), and I don't regret that at all. I hope that people won't use me liking Survivor as a reason to vote me out, but there's nothing I can do to change that.
I will say, though, that for as big a Survivor fan as I am, I still don't know what's in Murielle's bottle! And I'm scared to find out!!
As for having the immunity necklace, the best part right now is just not having to worry that it's going to be me this time. I didn't realize just how much worry and fear I took into every tribal council until now that it's less so. I still am worried about who I'm going to vote for and not wanting to see people get hurt, but it's definitely like a huge weight lifted to not have to worry about myself this time.

Awww... I gotta tell you, as a night owl on the West Coast, my time and your time never line up well, Gary!
Now, if this had been at your 5am, maybe, though I would have had to keep refreshing the page while also trying to muster the energy to answer your one question for me EVEN THOUGH I already knew the answer. But forming a comment? Mysteriously difficult.
I just finished Samantha Irby's "Wow, No Thank You!", and I feel she would totally understand my issues there, somehow. ;)
