Results - Week 22
May. 5th, 2019 01:05 amI really think that the voters just like to mess with me. Either that or they just don't want this mini season to end.
But, after a series of emails between the finalists, a decision was reached -
A Split Decision.
There was no knockout and they tied on points.
Which means we have two losers...
Oh wait, sorry, I meant to say two WINNERS!
Congratulations to both
halfshellvenus and
sonreir !

Date: 2019-05-05 06:01 am (UTC)He wrote back and told me that she had sent a similar email, asking if we couldn't share the win, shortly before I did.
I think that sums up what this game has been like for us: not a "prizefight", in the end, but a friendly competition in which we both recognized the 'will of the voters' and were willing to share. :)
I didn't write a "why my opponent deserves to win" for the tiebreaker round, but I thought about it.
On a side note: I did not want to say so until the results were finalized, because I did not wish to influence anyone's vote in any way at any point during the contest, but I wrote everything I did this season with the idea that whatever money I won, if I was lucky enough to make it that far, would be donated to charity.
To everyone who donated to the pot this time around: thank you. The $125 I received has been donated to the local LGBT homeless youth shelter. I chose them because they do excellent work on a local level, and they're genuinely trying to make a difference in a world that at times feels very scary. As someone who was privileged to have a family who promised to love them no matter what when they came out, I feel like it's my job to give back and support LGBT youth in any way I can. I know they'll do good things with the donation, and I feel confident about the money I've given them.
Thank you, everyone, for your support and votes throughout the process. Everyone in the contest has been wonderfully kind. Idol is unique in that the community is a big part of the contest, and that community is kind. I genuinely feel that everyone who spends time here is a good person, and I'm glad to have known you all.
I'll be back when the contest returns to livejournal, Real Life permitting. I'm looking for a new job right now, so fingers crossed, wherever I end up will let me play!
Thank you again for your support and love during the contest. I'm glad to have met you all. <3

Date: 2019-05-05 07:28 am (UTC)Your charity choice was lovely. It will help young people who really need the encouragement and support, and who have suffered from the lack of it.
This was such a great mini-season, full of love and fellowship. AGain, my thanks and the very best to all of you who turned out. I hope to see you over at LJ whenever the next season starts up!

Date: 2019-05-06 02:13 am (UTC)It was a hard-fought battle, and a nerve-wracking past several days.
But I think the voters made their will clear-- and I remember the last time that happened, and what it felt like to be on the voting end!

Date: 2019-05-05 04:05 pm (UTC)Gary, thank you for listening to the Will of the People, i.e., the damn hippies. It was a great mini-season.
I think it was generous of both of you to volunteer for the tie, and says a lot about both of you, as writers and people.
Now you finally get to step away from the computer, get some rest, glory in your accomplishment, and enjoy Real Life. Well done!

Date: 2019-05-06 07:28 am (UTC)This is more like a, "So, I guess this thing happened and some people sort of won. -ish" kind of follow-up.
Were either of us in the mysterious dream forecast for the finale, was were the last vestiges of it torpedoed a few weeks back? :O
