Last night, Cynthia mentioned how proud she was of me for taking the trip to California.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized how proud I was of myself as well. People do things all the time.

But this was the first time that I had ever just came up with an idea, planned it out, and executed it on my own - and fulfilled two lifelong dreams in the process. I guess I should be kind of sad that it took me until my late 40s to do this. :) Now I just need to figure out what to do next - and how to accomplish it!

Knowing that I have that single-minded focus that I displayed to make this happen, that was a treat to find out about (and kind of scary - I was *super focused*. :D But I guess that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has spent time in Idol. Once I get an idea, I just keep at it!! :D )

But don't denigrate the second half of your life like that! All manner of amazing things are about to happen because fetters fall away as we age and it can be glorious!

I'm so glad you were able to make that trip with your Mom. You'll cherish that trip and that time with her for the rest of your life. :)

I'm just sorry we were too far north to visit while you were out here. Did you wind up doing any of the other things in that area? Universal Studios? La Brea tarpits?

The closest we've ever gotten to that is a track at a convention. The convention - like a lot of them - folded before they got off the ground, so the track never ended up happening.

Well, you'd be the keynote speaker, so I guess you would have to be covered on flight and hotel!

I bet there's enough of us with interesting jobs/insights to really host a few panels!

We went whale watching and met up with furzicle in Newport Beach!

(it was a tour of the beaches and whale watching. Now that I've done the official "tour" I think I should have tried to set up some Idolers to meet us and drive us to the whale watching! :D

Other than that, it was all Disneyland all the time!

I had joined a "Solo Disneyland" group about a year ago, to do some research. I ended up meeting quite a few of them and hanging out. It was a lot of fun.

I grew up with Disney World. I love Disney World. It will always be *my* parks and hold a special and dear place in my heart.

Disneyland is better and it's not close.

Yeah. We saw a couple whales. And sea lions.

Most of the boat was disappointed not to see any dolphins. But I see those all the time. :)
