It occurred to me, after I posted the results from the second round of the Write Off https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1046829.html - that I was being far too kind how to break ties.
In Survivor, there are two traditional ways of breaking a tie: "going to fire" at the final four. This is a challenge that only the two people are a part of, where they compete head to head in making a fire that is high enough, and burns hot enough, to burn through a rope.
That's kind of what I do with the Write Off. (with a mix of the Top Chef Quick Fire)
But the *other* way to solve a tie - is going to be a revote, and if they *still* can't break that tie - then those people are immune and everyone else is vulnerable and has to draw a rock! :)
I can just imagine the looks on people's faces if I said: "If you don't want to send either of these people home - then it's going to be one of you!" :D
I'm not going to do that. I can't see a situation where I'd want to do it. (Other than mentioning it to see the reactions! :D) But I do think it's funny that I never went in that direction with a tie-break rule.

I have some big things happening this week - but what is going on in YOUR life?

Date: 2019-02-25 10:27 pm (UTC)Hope all is well. Glad you do right by everyone here on Idol. I think what has been happening is fair, and having it go down any other way is a level of evil that you, my friend, won't even sink to (not yet. Maybe when provoked). ;)
Nothing new here. Sleeping. Hospitals. Meds. Oncology. I miss talking to people - no one reaches out any longer, which is a trend that happens when I get this ill - but I guess I have time to rest. No big news, though!

Date: 2019-02-26 12:05 pm (UTC)I guess I just miss real interaction, especially since I am so sick and rarely leave the house. But FB is fake, another platform for falsehood, and I am not into that.
I am into answering memoir questions! Please ask away! If I am well this summer, I’ll be teaching a workshop on memoir writing in Pittsburgh. So please ask your question. I may be sick and sleeping, but I still want to be useful, especially to my friends!
