A few words from Gary:

We’ve been here before. Two writers with distinct voices facing off where only one of them is going to be able to walk out of it in one piece.

Just a few days ago, there was a tie between four writers, which ended in a tie with two of them.

This is going to decide who is staying and who is going. (Unless, somehow, this ends in a tie as well!)

I still think there's better ways to run this than make some people write 7 entries in less than a week...

Not a week, the deadline for the five entries was pushed back to March 12.

But the second write-off sure sucks à lot in any case.

When voters are in a stalemate, unfortunately, it's back to 20 paces at dawn. One new voter is all it would have taken to break this in either direction.

And good catch that I changed the deadline. :) I'll be officially announcing it a little later. But that was heavily influenced by the second Write Off. I wanted to give whoever survives this a fighting chance.

(and it's already the longest period of time I've ever given writers to finish 5 entries. But since there will be one who had to write 7, the new schedule is about right for that - maybe a day or so longer than normal.(
