Questions were asked. I'm here to attempt to answer them.

- Where's the poll? There is no "click the boxes" style poll this week. You email me your votes. We've done this before. We will do this again. This isn't even the first time this mini season that we've done this. :) You instructions are here: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1019856.html

This includes what time you have to get me those votes, who can vote (Hint: Everyone capable of emailing me can vote. They just need to identify themselves. I wanted to make sure that people who might be lining up for Second Chance had the chance to vote as well. But it's open to *anyone*, not just them.) It includes how many entries you can vote for (All the votes or as many as you feel like).

- Should you still be commenting on each other's work? YES. Absolutely comment on each other's work. Unless I say "You will be set on fire if you comment", you should be commenting. You should be commenting regardless, and just accept the fact that you are going to be set on fire.

- When is Second Chance starting? I've said "before the end of the month". It's now the 10th. Christmas is the 25th. I can tell you, it's NOT on Christmas Day. :) New Years Day is the 1st. Which would be *after* the end of the month. So it's not then. So it's sometime between now and the end of the month, barring those two dates. :D

- "Am I eligible for Second Chance?" I've been hearing this one quite a bit. The short answer is "Yes, of course you are."
The long answer is "Yes, of course you are". Maybe it's a second chance because you were eliminated and want to get back into the fight. Maybe it's a second chance because you byed-out and want to get back into the fight. Maybe it's a second chance because you either forgot to sign up or didn't know about the original sign up period in the first place - and now you want into the fight. Any of those are valid reasons for a Second Chance. Heck, maybe you are still in the competition, but really want to try an alt. Go for it!

- Pay attention to the deadline dates and times. I spoke to 4 different people yesterday who didn't realize that all times were in EST, despite it saying "EST" on the Topic post. Just in case I ever forget, I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, which means, depending on the time of year it is, all deadlines will either be in Eastern Standard Time OR Eastern Daylight Time.

Not directly Idol related - but I think there's something that resonates here. I've seen comments on other sites lately about how social media isn't "personal" anymore and how it's difficult to connect with other people. I'd agree, to an extent, but it's funny because *of the people that I personally have seen making this comment*, none of them actually make "personal" posts any deeper than the latest movie they saw and/or political posts. It's kind of difficult for someone to care about your life when they don't know or see anything about it.

The time is a hard one, Gary. Because of where I live, I've had lots of practice figuring out I'm two hours behind the rest of the world (though still not the slowest Province, yay!) which means I have to be two hours earlier than the Idol deadline. It's hard because quite often you are very generous about extending the deadline, and of course who but you really knows what time it is in 'Merica, anyway. ;-p

That's why I choose the fake time of Eastern. it's not the TRUE 'Merica time, but it's close enough.

I don't know where you live, but the timing of deadlines for my son Kris (emo_snal) who lives in eastern Australia is especially tricky. We often discuss it. If the deadline is--as it is this time--8 p.m. Dec 12 EST I say, hmmm, that's 5 p.m. California time (where I am) and presently the time difference to Australia is five hours, then it is noon in Australia, BUT THE NEXT DAY. Therefore Kris's deadline will be noon on his Thursday. Thanks, International Date Line!

Furthermore, the time difference changes, partly due to switching of summer vs. winter, and secondly because 'Straya changes to daylight time on September 1, while our time change typically changes after Halloween. So the time difference evolves from seven hours, to six hours to five hours over about a two month span of time. But it's always the next day!

Sorry, hon. Didn't mean to offend. I was being facetious, and trying to be a bit funny, but I get how it's difficult, especially for international (ie., outside of North America) players. I mean, we've got people from all over the place playing and it must be confusing for them.

I try a mix on media. There's plenty I don't want people to know (as a matter of fact, I think I've managed to shock a few in recent past -cough/laugh-), but! I also never try to make my life appear to be more than what it is. So many people are trying to fake everyone else out about how amazing life is, or conversely, how horrible it is, and.. well, life is a mixture, right? Not everything is always amazing, and not everything is always terrible! There's a blend! =D But, gosh, no! I mean, I've been involved in one form of "media" exchange online since God invented roller skates, so! BBM, relay chat, god, just thinking on them all makes me feel really really old! So, maybe it's that, but my major complaint has never been too few friends, it's been way, way, WAY too many! Someone always manages to get insulted when you don't have time to read 1700 pages of text, and shoot. I'm never trying to hurt anyone's feelings. Like BEYOND never. It'd never occur to me! But do I have the time for it all? Hell no. Like, bold, 1500 pt font, with some sort of Helvetican !!! and whatnot! =DDD I just don't. Even for loved ones I don't (my mother gets so upset when I don't always see her FB posts =P).

Anywhoozle, maybe it's this next generation that's feeling less loved and less special! IDK! If they want some friends, I got a couple hundred I'd be willing to ship off! -laughing- I'm only kidding, here! These are the jokes! ;)

I just had to tell Gary that I LOL'd all the way through. Setting me on fire made me laugh with a wicked glee I just can't explain. We should probably all be worried about my tittering over self-immolation!

I love my friends I’ve made online. It’s especially fun when it can eventually translate to in person connection, when possible. I made a friend on LJ years ago whose home base is Washington but they were moving around a lot due to military. I was in California but have family in Washington. We never planned to move to Washington but one day we ended up needing to, and after about 6 months here my friend’s spouse was out of the military and they were back in Washington and we’ve been hanging out in person ever since. Added bonus ~ our kids get along swimmingly!

Anyway I go through periods sharing more or sharing less online. But the friends I make whether I meet them online or in person are all friends. I love having access to meet people worldwide because of the internet though. That’s just the coolest thing.

One time I tried to think of which friends I had made that had nothing to do with the internet and I came up with like my brothers and maybe two other people. Everyone else had a basis in online connections!! 😆
