A few words from clauderainsrm:

Putting this poll together took longer than usual, because I’m more out of it than usual. :)

But as I was putting the entries into the template, I noticed a couple of things - people seemed to really have a good time with this topic, and it shows. I like to change things up, to make the writers work for their survival. Sometimes there are topics that I am positive will be great jump off points for the writers to explore, and they all struggle with it. Other times I’m convinced that something will be challenging, and they knock it out of the park. So, you never really know until it’s game time and you start seeing what people are swinging at… and this is definitely a nice collection of home runs!

As I’m writing this, we are almost in December, we will be there by the time this poll closes, so I can tell you - the plan is to have Second Chance start in December.   I want to give you a heads up on this, so if you are reading this, and are not a current contestant, but are enjoying what you are seeing - you CAN GET INTO THE ACTION TOO!!!

If you were a part of the season, but are already eliminated - your chance is coming to get revenge!

If you are a current contestant, this is also a good time to think of friends who might be interested and start working on them! Maybe reach out to some old Idol friends and get them to show up. Or people who have never heard of Idol.

Keep in mind that there is also a purse to be split that currently stands at over $300.

If you’re someone who thinks they’ve got a clear path to the end - give yourself a challenge and bring out some amazing new writers to keep you on your toes!

IF you’re someone who is convinced that they are doomed, bring in some cannon fodder.. Oh, I mean, people you are convinced you are beat. :D

Whatever your dark and twisted reasons - just start letting people know.

But I digress - we are here for a reason, and that reason is to grow the ranks of the Second Chancers the old fashion way - by eliminating people.

Which means that it’s time to get to the poll.

Before we do that though, it’s time to say goodbye to those leaving us through bye-outs.

Remember how I said there were a couple things I noticed? But then I only listed one thing? You may have thought that I was just delirious, or perhaps just forgetful. It was neither. I was just waiting to mention it.

There were NO bye-outs this week. I’m really pleased, and proud of all of our writers, for fighting to stay in this! Great job!

That said, the poll is going up. So now we are going to lose 2 more contestants.

How do the byes that you can give away work like the Patron one (and potentially the Thank You one)? If you are eliminated and still have byes can you give them away or are they gone?

I also wonder about the last point. I have always assumed that they 'burn' with you, but let's see what Gary says.

Kehlen is right about the traditional bye and the Thank You. Once you are gone, they are gone.

The Patron one is different in that you don't have to be a current contestant in order to use it. It's the only "special power" where someone outside the game can use to impact the game.

Second Chance

I would like to join Second Chance Idol. I did Idol 9 years ago (WOW! was it that long ago?) I now have a Blogspot blog, not one here. How do I hear about what's going on? Is there a way to "join" this group, like with Facebook? I've forgotten everything, including the [expletive deleted] html coding you need to use (don't need to use it with Blogspot). Anyhow, I don't know if I will be doing any journaling, and I don't currently have any friends, except bsgsix.

I'm so excited to see you! I was definitely a fan of your stuff back in Season 6. :) Was that really 9 years ago? *goes to check* Ended in 2010, so it would have started in 2009, yep 9 years. Wow.

Anyway, it's really nice to see you again!

Dreamwidth, unlike Livejournal, does not interface with Facebook. Some people like that. We're doing this special "pop up" event over here on DW, so a lot of these things I'm figuring out myself.

There IS a way to join from your Open ID account - which includes Blogspot. So you can join from that, and that *should* give you notifications as it would if you had a DW account. (and, I presume, if Blogspot allows you to interface from FB, that might be a workaround)

People were more into personal html coding back in the day than they are now. It's really if you want to make your link look fancy. :) Cut and paste is fine for links.

I guess you remembered me from my IP address? No, I didn't think it would link to Facebook. I am just confused as to how to "join" the Idol group or friend someone on DW. I made myself a DW account, but unlike the first time I was involved with LJ, I don't know how to find communities or friends. When I wanted to get to the Idol group I had to use the search feature. RE: html, mostly I remember you had to use tagging to make a user's name show up in the correct style, or to link to a group. So I can just use cut and paste? Blogspot has an "insert link" feature.

Oh, for tagging people and making links? I know DW has a function in their posts to do that, but not in the comments. Which is annoying. I'll go find the DW specific codes for you.

And yeah, wow - that WAS season 6. Holy CRAP. Look at this thing you've kept alive, G. That's incredible and miraculous in and of itself.

Hey look, I'm HARDLY in a place to call anyone insane. I'm just a member of the club, that's all. ;)

And I know. I joined in Season 6, but was told of All the History and Drama. And then I got very sick, had about 6 surgeries, had to drop, and then had my TBI. That's why it's nice to be back here: it's been fun (ignoring the brain weasels that tell me I'm the worst writer ever, but seasonal depression is super fun, as always). But yeah, I know there was a deep history by then!

It's interesting to think that there were 6 seasons from 2006-2010. There have been 4 more full seasons and 3 mini seasons (plus one in progress) from 2010-now.

I wonder what happened in 2011 that changed Idol. I wonder... ;) (hint: I met Cynthia in March of 2011)

Crazy (in a good way). And gee, I wonder indeed. :) I remember (because I was post-TBI then) wanting to play in 2011, but I was super-pregnant and very sick from it, and I think the schedule was different because of YOUR big, awesome life change, so it didn't work out.

Glad it's all working out now. :)
