I came into work today. I probably shouldn't have, but that's the reality of the situation - sometimes you can't afford to *not* go into work.

I was reading an interesting article about what is happening at the US-Mexican border and there was a line in there that suggested that how people responded to it was a Rorschach test. That seems to be true of pretty much every issue - for a lot of people, facts are decided by what someone already believes. Which, to be fair, that was the norm before the internet was ever dreamed up. You would think that, with more access to information, that this would be altered, but instead the sources of information have just gotten more and more partisan.

Which is what I like about Idol. There are people with a lot of different life experiences and backgrounds - with a lot of different political and social views. You come together for one purpose - to be tortured by me!

People can make up stories in their heads about what happens here. But ultimately the only one who matters is me! Unless you count me destroying you as "you mattering", in which case, I guess...

Feeling narcissistic today? It must be your illness. Everyone knows that the only person who matters is . . . me! I forgive you, and grant you cookie crumbs in your distress. It would have been a cake, but I decided it was for me instead.

This is what I am hoping to train myself to do, listen. Listen, without the need to do anything else, to points of view not my own. I saw on TV that William Wilberforce's next project after ending slavery, was to be civil discourse, and it inspired me.

"What's happening at the border" seems to have led to an influx of people suddenly pretending to know a lot about immigration law and what it takes to seek asylum in the United States. :| I'm over it.

Hope every day gets better for you Gary. My hub is having tachycardia issues. It's been a helluva week between the new grandbaby being born and oldest kid's house being detonated in an ice/wind storm. Baby is fine...The older daughter's house...We might as well have had a hurricane...Thank G-d for insurance!!!

Oh, I'm so sorry, hon. That's a lot to have to contend with, for anyone. Hope your husband's situation gets better fast, and as you say...Insurance. Still, grandbaby s all about the good news.
