 There is a big tie-breaker happening: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1005690.html

and the new topic has been posted: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1005921.html

That tie-breaker is a 7 way tie, but came within a single vote of being a 10 way tie!  It came within 2 votes of a 13 way tie and 3 votes of a 18 way tie!  That's how close this thing ended up being!

As usual, if you want to know how you did, send me an email to clauderainsrm@gmail.com and I will tell you if you finished "Very safe", "safe" or if you were in danger. Although as you can tell from those numbers, those ranges were very close together. The lines were more than a little blurred.

What have you been up to this weekend?

Had to just get that in. I worked my new, horrible job yesterday. Today, I've puttered around the kitchen, explained to the spousebeast that it's "deus ex machina" not the other way around, worked on a shawl, and roasted a ton of garlic. Not bad for a Sunday.

What else is everyone up to?

I'm sorry to hear that your new job is horrible. :( Here's hoping it improves with time? :)

Out here we got together with friends to celebrate Halloween, and now I'm fixing dinner. Nothing terribly exciting! :)

Let's have a Work-room thread

The most common meaning of "ghosting" is when someone suddenly stops all contact with someone else, is it not?

Ooh, and there is a secondary meaning, when a TV or display screen malfunctions and you get a secondary image.
(This also happens a lot in analog TVs when your antenna is not working properly.)

Words have many meanings...

Ghosting could also mean becoming a ghost I guess...
or it could be like Busting? but ya know... being Slimer instead of Zeddmore.

There's some work room thoughts for you.

My brain immediately went to "becoming a ghost". What does that process look like? Does it happen gradually, or is it something that happens all at once? Do you become aware right away that you're a ghost, or is a situation where you don't *think* you're invisible, but you definitely are? Could be fun to play with. :)

As a little girl in Scotland--it annoys me that I always say that!--b/w tv ghosting was such a common thing there was an urban myth about it, long before they were called urban myths.

Maybe you could write about it. I remember b/w TV and the ghosting but I am not familiar with the myth :)

All told I was probably there for maybe five years. My accent is long gone, long long ago in a galaxy far far away. :-)

Oh ok! I was just curious. A friend of mine lived in Scotland until she was 13, then moved to California, and kids teased her about her accent, so she struggled to have an American accent. And she's talked with her American accent so long that no one even knows she's Scottish, until she gets angry over something or argues with her Dad who has a very heavy accent, and suddenly, it comes out full throttle, and it's amazing to hear. It's funny what accents we end up with. I grew up my entire childhood in the South - Alabama, Texas - and I speak just like my parents who are from Philadelphia.

It is strange, isn't it?

I had a musical ear, so picked up accents very quickly. On the ship over to Canada we were in the cabin next to a Catholic priest and his sister. They were from Ireland. The priest took a shine to me and so we spent a lot of time with them. Mom said that by the time we disembarked I was speaking with an Irish accent.

One of my aunts had a very pronounced Scottish accent, and when I talked with her I caught it, and if I was very tired it could creep back, but it is gone now. I can "put it on" a bit still, but that's about it. :-)

I have always wanted to go to the southern States. There is something so romantic about the South.

Ooh thanks for reminding me about ghosting in the sense of images.

I like "ghosting" as a Halloween type theme. My gears are turning for sure.

For anyone who might wanna go with ghosts as in white spooky flying things / dead folks, it is worth noting that Halloween, also Samhain, is the time when the veil between the world of dead and living is at its thinnest and communication beyond the veil is most possible. Just throwing that out there.

Some really amazing ideas up here..I also found this :
"Ghosting can mean the viewing of a stream/streamer for the purpose of gaining information that could be used to gain an advantage against them (no matter if they're a team or an individual)

eg : In an esports tournament watching a stream of the game you/your team are playing for to gain an unfair advantage over the enemy. Thus you have ghosted the enemy. "

The results resulted in a truly crazy and nail-biting tie. I look forward to the write-off, but feel anxious for those writers. :(

I'm glad we have the potential to write spooky for Samhain!

We heat entirely with wood, so all our autumn weekends are wood weekends - splitting, stacking, repeat.

Oh wow, that's incredible about heating entirely with wood! That sounds like a ton of work organizing all that wood each week, but it sounds kind of awesome too, like just an interesting part of Fall/Winter, that homesteading kind of stuff. :)

My ankle is still quite a gnarly mess from the injury it experienced at the end of my last wrestling working. I didn't help that injury by walking I don't know how many miles in Boston. If you saw the photos you have an idea of how much walking was involved.

My weekend has consisted of lots of wrestling viewing and also Sabrina and some folks on Twitch.

We've been watching Sabrina and Twitch Con too. Though my hubs watched more Twitch Con than I did. We've been watching Sabrina together. I LOVE it, apart from some of the Satan stuff. Being pagan, even though I love the fantastical extra magical witchy stuff that is in fictional witch shows/movies, I can't help rolling my eyes when people associate witches with Satan. They're completely unrelated!!! *ahem* But, oh well. It's still a really cool, really enjoyable show, and I adore the actor playing Sabrina, Keirnan Shipka.

I hope your ankle heals fast!

Wow. I'm not sure I want to know how I ended up, all told...but I know I'm going to email in anyway. :)

This weekend we've been getting ready for Halloween. Nothing terribly exciting. We're not expecting any trick-or-treaters this year (our neighborhood is full of empty nesters -- we're the youngest people who live here). I'm not too put out. I told friends I would participate in NaNoWriMo, and that madness starts on the 1st!

Hello,

I cast my vote for entries, some for contestants in the 'Sudden Death" write off.

I didn't receive a confirmation of my vote being received. I'm wondering if my vote made it. Should I have received a confirmation?

Good luck to all.
