Weekend is great so far except for not being able to print a knitting pattern I want to knit. Technical stuff eludes me.

Oooh, no. I almost made that mistake yesterday, because it's usually an evening deadline.

So, the original deadline would have been 9am Pacific time, and I still might have missed it because Noon was in my head. It just wasn't MY noon.

I was working on mine right up until the deadline which was 3am Sunday night for me! And I had work in the morning! AND bossman, who hardly ever calls me, happened to call me around 9:30 and I wasn't at work yet which felt very embarrassing (but I worked until 9pm so now I need to find a way to work that fact into conversation so he doesn't think I'm a slacker) d:

Oh wow! Thank you. I was actually coming on to see what time the deadline was TONIGHT - not realizing it had already passed!!

Cleaned out my car this weekend - it's finally cool enough to not roast while doing it - and went to see Bad Times at The El Royale. Loved it. Felt a lot like a Tarantino film. It was a violent delight!

We went to go see Hell Fest for a friend's birthday, then out to a local pizza shop.

He's a big fan of horror movies...
It was very much an 80's style slasher pic. (They even had a trailer for the new Halloween movie, where Michale Myers escapes from prison...) It felt like it was a sequel to some other movie, so I asked the birthday boy if it was, he said no.

I am not a big fan of that style of movie... and I will NOT be going to any haunted houses this year. (Not that I generally do anyway, because so many of them have strobe lighting, which messes with my balance, and can give me migraine.) I was almost thinking of going to one of the local ones, with the couple we went to see the movie with...

I don't usually struggle this much to find something to work with for the prompt, but for some reason there was just nothing there this time. I looked up the history, still nothing. All I see is the arrogance of a young country, defacing mountains for tourism - and never actually finishing the project. It did not inspire me to be at all creative, even with a non-fiction, personal angle. Complète mental block.

The one time I get my entry in early-ish and there's an extension. Though still quite proud of myself for posting long before the final hour before deadline. Yay me.

It's been a busy weekend otherwise. We went to the pumpkin farm today, but it was 85 degrees so it did not quite feel like fall. But yet tomorrow it's a high of 45. Weather is weird, y'all. I had to go buy some leggings because I refuse to buy a pair of maternity jeans for 5 weeks, but omg putting on leggings is hard work when you can barely bend over without getting out of breath. First world problems over here xD

Gary !!!! Well there is definitely one not upset person !!! I have been waging a war with my time to get the writing done with this topic. This week has been hectic and all the thoughts just stuck in my head .... am definitely not upset with the extra time - hopefully I should be able to extract the thoughts from head to paper ... well ummm dreamwidth page ... !!!

This weekend was good! Spent yesterday with my friend's dog - he has separation anxiety, and my friend needed to be away for the day, so I spent a good two and a half hours with him. We took a walk, then I wrote a bunch while he slept near my feet.

And today I saw Cirque de Soleil for the first time!

Yay! Thanks a ton for the extended deadline.. I couldn't access the net and was totally tied up with RL situation which also left me with no ideas( actually a lot of incomplete ideas) for the prompt and thus just thought of giving up...but then a deadline extension should be taken advantage of...let's see. Thanks Gary! ( here's a batch of freshly baked cookies for you) :D

I had wondered whether the lack of entries was more due to the huge (in Idol time) amount of time we had to write the entries in the first place. Like, five days, especially over a weekend, is long enough to think of an idea, go to put it on the back burner to brew a bit before writing it, and then actually forget that you need to come back to it. Three days, and you're planning when you will do the actual writing as soon as you see topic posted, and the adrenaline sharpens the mind, because it has to. And because the adrenaline kicks up, it is hard to forget about the entry at all, so you end up thinking about turns of phrase you want to use during your commute, etc. But I suppose "iffy brakes" could mean 'break will not release enough to go fast' as well as 'brake may or may not work to make things go slow'. :p Unless it's both :o

I am glad I didn't see this extension until after it had passed, though. Because I would have felt obliged to tinker with my entry, and I can't say it would actually have improved it. I might even have started again from scratch, because the idea I went with only came quite late in proceedings for the original deadline, and it is VASTLY different from the entry I was planning to write, which was a brilliant take on the topic, but I could not get it to gel together into actual words; knowing I had additional time probably would have made me have another hash at it, but it probably wouldn't be as potent as my current entry ended up being.

That's definitely something I considered, but having offered the time, I figured I'd offer a little extra to *try* to stave off "Bye Out 2018"poolza over the next couple of weeks. It's coming, but I'm hoping it's spread out over the course of a few weeks instead of just two.
