In case you missed it, there was a major announcement about a Matching Offer! https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/996877.html The purse is going to be doubled (up to $500)! If my math is correct, that means the Final 4 have the potential to walk out of here with $125 each! (provided that we get to that threshold)

People have been asking me what the "bye situation" is for this mini season. For those who don't know what a "bye" is - it's a term you might know from football for a week where the team doesn't have to play. They take the week off to rest and train. It means the same thing here. It's a week where you can declare "I'm taking a bye" and you aren't automatically eliminated. After all, sometimes life happens and it's good to have one of those in your back pocket for when it does.
For this mini season, there is *1 bye* IF we are under 50 players. 50-100 players it's 2 byes. If we somehow get to 100 people signing up for the mini season, then it's going to be 3.

Both Survivor AND The Good Place are coming back for a new season this week. I'm pretty forking excited! What are YOU excited about?

My father, alexpgp, participated in LJ Idol for several years. He passed away in February.
He was always up for the challenge of LJ Idol. I still have the published book of LJ Musings that was done a number of years ago. While I do not keep up with the Idol community, I do fondly remember reading his submissions year after year, round after round.

I've done it a couple of times before, but this time I'm writing with a buddy, and I'm looking forward to getting started. It's been a long time since I wrote anything more substantial than work-emails or occasional, "Hello, I'm not dead" Facebook updates.

TV: The Good Doctor (which was VERY good last night), This Is Us, and a few things on Netflix (Maniac looks great!)
Music: Coheed and Cambria has a new album dropping 10/5, and Disturbed has a new album dropping 10/19, so I'm eagerly awaiting those pre-orders.
Real life: I begin my new career 10/8, and think my first travel destination is NYC. I haven't been up there since 2002, and since the trip is for work, it's on their dime. I might take advantage of my evenings to meet up with friends and see a show or two.
Now, to go set up the other thing I'm excited about: the new Ninja Coffee Bar system I bought so that my coffee addiction can continue to exist in the laziest fashion possible. :)
