Good morning.

So have you guys read any particularly good entries lately?

I ask that to highlight the backlash against recommendation lists posted along with the "vote for me" posts that some people do.

It's fascinating to see how these things evolve and what a very personal choice that is. How people handle the voting aspect is as important as any other aspect of the game - and this is, as I'm sure most of you have figured out by now, a *very* social game. It's "LJ" Idol for a reason, every little aspect of blogging on Livejournal comes into play and it's how you manage to handle it that brings people out ahead of the curve. At least that's my opinion... of course I'm right.*g*

Anyone looking for an official "yes or no" on suggesting other people - the answer is, it's entirely up to you. I have no problem with people who want to do it. I have no problem with people who don't like it. If it's the same people week after week, well if someone wanted to say that was an alliance, well, would they be wrong?*G*

On a sidenote - but somewhat related - I was having a conversation the other day and someone pointed out all the people they knew in person from their LJ. It got me thinking of here, and wondering, for my own curiosity, how many people actually had met in person. Especially in light of some talk of how there should be some sort of meet-up thing down the road at some point.

So here's my list. It just includes people that I've met in person. All but one I've actually spent some time with, the last one on list being that one that I met during the tour last summer and met at a group meet-up dinner.

[livejournal.com profile] mezzominty
[livejournal.com profile] adpaz
[livejournal.com profile] astriana_
[livejournal.com profile] oberonia

(oddly enough they are in order of Tribe, but after looking at the list, it's also in order of "How Long I've known them" from longest to shortest amount of time!)

smartphone commenting! my bus stop is frigid this morning. anyway, the voting part of this is hardest for me. no time for a spreadsheet like some, so I rely a lot on how others have interacted with me.

So far [livejournal.com profile] rm's entry is my favorite. Alliance? Nope. I just dig her writing and love her topic this week. (I read the article she highligthed a few days before hand and thought it was interesting)

Morning!
Heading out to work in a just a few minutes.

I have really liked all the entries I had read so far. There have been a few on education related things that really hit a cord with me as I that is what I am getting my degree in.

Overall though, the two that really stick out in my head are:
[livejournal.com profile] adpaz
and [livejournal.com profile] tulip_in_yellow

I haven't had time to utilize the spreadsheets either. I carry around a piece of paper in my purse and add names as I read the entries. (works well, since I do most of my reading at work via BlackBerry)

Are you asking what LJ Idol people we know/have known in person? Hmm. This season there's a LOT more than the last one.

[livejournal.com profile] fidgety and [livejournal.com profile] twystedpixie I went to elementary/high school with. I have known fidgety since I was 5-6 years old.

[livejournal.com profile] kelly0182, [livejournal.com profile] ewok_626, [livejournal.com profile] suesniffsglue, and [livejournal.com profile] elva_undine I know from Geneva College; we all had classes together at one point or another.

I'm still having a hard time believing that I've known you for 10 years. Or is it 11? A damn long time.

And it's been about 7 or 8 since I've seen you last. That has GOT to change.

As for the number of people that I've actually met from LJ Idol (including Gary):
[livejournal.com profile] sideshowbennie
[livejournal.com profile] puppetmaker40 (though it was at a Con several years ago and very briefly so I don't know if she actually remembers meeting me.)
[livejournal.com profile] tryslora
[livejournal.com profile] zyada

Of course, that's a very small number in comparison with the people that were on my flist before starting the competition and the people that I have an overwhelming desire to meet.

As for entries that I'm truly enjoying - the immediate ones that come to mind are [livejournal.com profile] puppetmaker40, [livejournal.com profile] angstzeit and [livejournal.com profile] cindymuttnaz. That's not all of the ones that I'll vote for, but those are the top three that I've enjoyed so far.

Thank you! I really posted it off the cuff, but I guess it's something I've been thinking about for awhile.

Only person I've met

is SirCaliban. I am pretty sure that is true of my entire friends list as well as LJ-Idol. Most of my friends just aren't into the "weird blogging thing". I have no problem meeting people though. I once flew across the entire country for the sole purpose of meeting internet friends! My RL friends thought I was a complete and total crazy person. I had a blast though!

As for entries, I haven't read any. I'm in the race to finish up NaNo and all my free time after that I'm pouring over the news with an extra vigor trying to decide what to write for my entry this week.

Last week I made the mistake of not using the spreadsheet. I plan to figure out how to ustalize this great tool, because I just could not remember come voting time which entries I wanted to vote for. Bad Ozma!

I do know that I think that pretty much everyone that got involved with Idol this season is amazing, talented, and awesome beyond belief. I feel completely out of my league! I look forward to what people will do with this topic!

I do admit to making a recommendation list each week and posting it in my journal, encouraging people to check out their entries and vote for them. However, since I only choose a few out of the hordes, I write these lists in filtered posts because I don't know how my LJ Idol friends would react if I didn't "choose" them (a lot of times I do, but, like I said, I vote for entry quality, not because someone is my friend. I vote for a lot of people than who is on the actual recommendation list. (Like I might vote for 50 people but only put 6 people on my list, because I write a short review of their entry, too)

Just off the top of my head, and because I have to get ready for work and am already running late, here are 4 who I have been really enjoying every week:

[livejournal.com profile] tulip_in_yellow
[livejournal.com profile] lacombe
[livejournal.com profile] srs_bidness
[livejournal.com profile] kittenboo

There are definitely more, but, like I said, time for slaving away at the candy factory! :^P

There are a number of them on subject that I either never thought about or hadn't thought about in a long time.

Even more interesting are those that are about the same news article but totally different actions and reactions to the same news.

I have met a number of people from LJ esp. those who come to conventions. It is interesting putting a face to a handle.

Hey all. I don't always have time to get in here but I wanted to say hi and thank all who voted for me last round. I've gotten some voting in my silly poll in my entry this week, but would welcome feedback if you all so desire.
As for people in LJ Idol that I have met in person, I can think of two right off the bat. Those are [livejournal.com profile] imafarmgirl and [livejournal.com profile] lisasali. Oh yeah, and [livejournal.com profile] bleuunicorn

I've liked a few entries so far, but will reservemy comments for now.

Hope to get in here more often but wanted to say hi and let all know I'm enjoying reading and getting to know some people better!

Just to let everyone know... I will not be hanging out much in today's green room. I am so far behind in my sewing (I do actually earn some money from it) that I have got to catch up.

Oh, and there is this pesky "writing thing" I want to work on before tomorrow, as I will not be around much the next couple of days.

But, feel free to carry on without me (if you can) and I will catch up if possible.

[PS: Alliances and vote trading (help me keep X and I will help you keep Y) are a great way to get to know other people. But I draw the line at begging]

[PPS: If you want to know who *I* know in real life, drop me a note.]

*Sticks out tongue*... All this talk about meeting others from LJ Idol...seems like nobody lives anywhere near the west coast...

but meeting me would be confusing...(plus you'd have to meet my headmate first and although she joined the community she's not participating this season).

Just being jealous..*s*...

Grr...still trying to figure out what I'm going to write about this week...damn Gary you!! you keep throwing in the bloody monkey wrenches!!!

Only person I've met in person is the former [livejournal.com profile] dustsped, now [livejournal.com profile] stwhoges, and that was BEFORE he had an LJ. (Still flew 700 miles to meet him!)

Don't nobody wanna vote for me? :,(

I have to go to class basically all day straight. Blech.

Before I started LJ Idol, I knew most of the people from my LJ in person. got a lot of them onto LJ. With the influx of new readers (WELCOME!) I can no longer say that. I From Idol, I've met [livejournal.com profile] spydielives, and I think that's it.

Morning!

It's only 9:00 and I already want to go back home. Think I can make it through the day? Without falling asleep on/under/in front of my desk? =D

I've liked most of the entries that I've read so far. And (drum roll please) I've found a couple of articles that I can use. =D I'll get going on that shortly, since I have nothing else to do this morning!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I have never met anyone from LJidol in person, however if we played the "Six Degrees to Kevin Bacon" game with Gary, I am but two steps away, as he and my real life boss have some interesting connection involving the Godfather and cats?? :)

Mert_mt_bc actually lives right here in my small town. We met a couple years ago on Babycenter.com's "August 06" mommy forum because we both had a baby due then. However, we have never actually met in real life!! I don't know how that's possible, we keep saying we should have a play date and our boys are both 15 months old now, but, busy schedules and all, it just hasn't happened.

I only registered on here a couple months ago, because several of my work friends said they loved it, so I had a really short flist with justthem and very few others before starting LJIdol. This has been awesome for finding amazing new people and more great blogs to peruse!

Seeing so many people who have met at Cons, I am jealous! I hope next year at Dragon*Con I can meet a few more LJ'ers face to face! Is there an event for us?

As for this week's topic...I don't know! There are so many angles to take this from and I am having a terrible time deciding what to do. I've been contemplating since yesterday afternoon and still have nothing that makes me feel definite.

I'm ready to write, but it will probably be tonight before I get on it. My chir'runs don't like mommy to spend too much time at her desk or they start destroying the house.

I'm deciding whether I want to quit my second job. After all, I'll be going full time again once tax season comes. That's only a month away...

I skipped work there last night and didn't even bother calling in. I just can't handle the stress of two jobs anymore.

In other news: I woke up to a "puppy present" on the bed this morning. :^(

I went to high school with [livejournal.com profile] chite and [livejournal.com profile] beemerbike is the wife of a girl I've known for about ten years now, although stupidly, we haven't met yet. Outside of the competition, I've probably met at least 100 of the people on my list and many of them are my closest friends.

I didn't know there was a backlash against recommendation lists. When did that happen?

I think sometimes those are the best points, were you just let it go. It was a good read, got me thinking and really hit a cord with me being I am going into that field and then also gave me something to think about when I do have kids
