JK Rowling recently said that she regretted that Harry and Herminone didn't end up together.

To which I say: Go home JK, you're drunk!

Either that, or she has gotten to the point in her career that she can now just sit back and troll the internet. Possibly while she is drunk.

What do you wish had turned out differently in your favorite novels/series of novels?
Or heck, what have you read from the author of (see above) that made you think that they needed to stop taking drugs before they spoke?

I find the whole thing both amusing and refreshing. Amusing, because people's heads are exploding, and I never really got into the fanfic, and I really don't care that much about the world, so it doesn't really seem life-changing for me. And refreshing, because some authors stick to their guns for decades, about a certain event or plot direction in their books, and I think, it's kind of cool for her to come out and say, 'no, I should have done it differently.'

I refuse to accept any other ship than Ron/Hermione. JK Rowling can have her own ships that didn't end up canon all she wants. He'll, I know I ship some of my own characters together that will never, ever be canon. It's just a part of life, lolol.

RON/HERMIONE 5EVER

I knew JKR was a drunk-ass troll the moment I read the epilogue in Deathly Hallows! Either that, or she was so bored she'd taken to plagiarizing bad fanfic. Her Gay!Dumbles revelation produced some hilarious blowout (pun somewhat intended), and I have my hopes set high for this one as well. The only pang of sadness I feel is related to the tragic, non-existent state of Fandom Wank over on journalfen. Woe ;_;

I still cried when Harry goes 'you were named for two great headmasters' then had to question myself.

YES!

I don't even usually get this bent on ships (I am a multi-shipper at heart), but I shipped Ron/Hermione since I was a damn kid and nothing is going to stop me, ever, not even JK Rowling herself, damnit. xD

I actually read that as RON/HERMIONE/5EVERUS.

Make of that what you will.

...Oh my. xD That's uh...

Well, I'm sure someone's written that fic. I certainly haven't read it, though. =p

I just can't see Harry & Hermione having that kind of relationship - I'm glad Hermione ended up with Ron, they complement each other very well!

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people have written that fic.

Considering the popularity of the Hermione/Snape pairing, I wouldn't be surprised. At all.

The Harry Potter fandom is a scary place. I just like to hang out on the outskirts and gobble up the good, genfic from time to time. ;)

THIS.

Like, okay. I ship movie!Harry and movie!Hermione but it's no where near as strongly as I ship Ron/Hermione in any iteration of canon. But I think my shipping movie!Harry&movie!Hermione is because the director so obviously shipped it. xD

HAHAHA. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN H/HR. HAHAHAHAHA MY HOUSE GOT ROWLING, AND NOW MY SHIP HAS HER, TOO, I WIN.

*ahem*

That being said, this totally flies in the face of EVERYTHING she's said when asked about them hooking up in the past.

What. In CoS Ginny shows up for like 15 lines, and then isn't heard of again until like the fifth or sixth book. HMS Harmony/Pumpkin Pie all the way!

I sort of think the opposite. Here we have the smartest witch of her time - how does she fall for the not-very-bright comic relief sidekick? Sure, movie tropes about leading ladies and leading guys aside, wouldn't you rather have Batman than Robin?

Something there in the last couple of movies, really. At least, there was to me, as I was watching them. =p

YES, EXACTLY. That trope is so old I was so happy to see it not used in HP.

Also, Ron and Hermione's dynamic is a guilty-pleasure thing and seeing something like that be CANON just makes this little fangirl's heart happy.

Meh, Batman's too broody and stuck up his own ass for me. At least Robin can think about something other than defeating Gotham's worst criminals. =p

To answer how the brightest witch of her time could fall for the "not-very-bright" comic relief sidekick?

I'm sorry, but did you miss how he was great at Wizard Chess? Dude can't be too dumb if he was good at a game that requires STRATEGY like chess. I mean, I consider myself pretty intelligent and I can't play chess for beans. Is Ron booksmart? Eh, probably not. Doesn't mean he's not bright, though.

Also, I'd put Harry and Ron on about the same intelligence level, so your argument there is invalid. =p

Comic relief character? Yeah, I'll give you that. But! I could see why a girl like Hermione would prefer a guy like Ron over a guy like Harry. A guy who can make me laugh who might not be at the same level as me intellectually (and let's face it -- neither Ron NOR Harry are at the same level as Hermione) is going to be my preferred partner over one who IS at the same level as me but is also a stick-in-the-mud (which, a lot of the time, I found Harry to be). Because I'd rather be with someone who has a more colorful personality.

In short: Ron ain't dumb and being a funny guy does not mean he shouldn't be able to "win" the leading lady. =p

I don't really think it would have worked out for the story anyway, but the relationships were always secondary to the main plot for me, I certainly didn't read HP for the love intrigue. ;) Relationship speculation and cannon are pretty malleable for me, so whatever JKR says or doesn't say won't make me any more or less butthurt about the series.
