Good morning. Coming in this morning I wasn't expecting to see that we would have officially hit the DOUBLING POINT from last season.

Wow.

Thank you guys so much.

Especially since I've already seen the "anti-everything" squad coming out. You know - the "this is so stupid because..." (basically, when you break down their reasons, because it's not what they want it to be, not that they would ever see anything through or do much of anything. But it's not what they want, so it's stupid/bad/a waste/your words here.) Sorry, that was my inside frustrated voice.*g* More people showing up saying wonderful things than have ever shown up before and I focus on the maybe two people I've seen who wouldn't satisfied with something they've only really seen at a distance... yeah, that's me all over!

I think that's one of the biggest challenges. This isn't a sprint. This is a marathon. There are going to be times when YOU are going to roll your eyes or think something isn't quite what you would want it to be. The secret with that - just like anywhere else in life - is to find a way to get through it, if you actually want to get to the other side.

Anyway, need to get into work! Have a wonderful day and I am SO pleased to see all of you here! Thank you for playing my little game. I realy do hope you manage to find aspects of it that you can enjoy.

I'm going to have a hard time keeping up with all of these entries, and they're not even for votes. I can't imagine next week when we actually have to try to vote on 200 entries. ;)

I'll get it figured out though, and hopefully I don't get in trouble at work trying to catch up on the entries. Oops!

Thanks for coordinating this mess and thanks to kithan for all of your hard work too. I don't expect to be in the contest long, but I'll be sticking around for the long haul...

I read a bunch. OK, I skimmed a bunch. But I can't really do that once voting starts, so I'm going back and reading them again and actually noting who I'd vote for as if it were a real vote this week.

I took a geek page out of spydielives's book and created a spreadsheet. While I'm not data-mining all the participants (which would be fun but too much work for me right now), I can create links to each entry, and then use some color coding to give me visual clues later.

I've gone through and created the links to all of the entries that have been submitted so far, and I'll go back and read them as I have time. I might be caught up by next month. :)

I had a fun Halloween. I found some fairy wings in my spare room so I wore them with some retro tights! I had a lone dance party while handing out bags of candy to trick-or-treaters. I spent about $50 on Halloween candy and everyone on my friends list thought it was too much! But I ended up getting rid of the majority of my candy. YES!



I called in sick today. My dinner from the night before didn't agree with me, apparently. :^( Plus I ate a lot of those inferior fun-size candy bars. My body's so accustomed to gourmet chocolate now that a lot of commercial candy makes me queasy now. But, come on! Butterfingers! Mmm.

I look at the entries the same way that I look at a great new record. If you are really, really lucky you already know the band and picked it up as soon as it came out.

Otherwise you might hear about it on a station you listen to - you like the other stuff the station plays, and so you trust that you will probably like this too.

OR, if you're lucky enough to have friends into such things - they might mention "man, you need to check this out!"

The same holds true here. You get to know people - and they mention what *they* have been reading (ideally). You like the person, think that they have decent taste, so you go check it out too.

You can substitute books or whatever (since I know the distribution model I outlined is kind of outdated for music, hey, I'm old!*g*) but the same principle holds true. It's all about the word of mouth. So if you want people to notice you (and check your stuff out) the best way is to BE that cool friend and point *them* toward some stuff too!

Don't feel bad about those negative comments - there are some people who don't want to be happy. They like complaining, poor souls.

My big plans for the day include hitting the post-Halloween sales to get some cheap,creepy swag for next year and baking some banana bread, yummy!

Is it really November already?? October was so crazy/busy/fun that it disappeared like the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups from my children's trick or treat bag.

"The Reeses are missing? Noooo! Mommy would NEVER eat your chocolate! Go ask daddy about that - you know what a candy pirate he is!" *Teehee*

Anyway, it was great and I have that sort of restive melancholy that hits after a beloved event has come and gone. Luckily, I already get to look to next Halloween because, as we headed home last night from candy begging, my daughter announced that "next years" she wants us to dress as the characters from The Wizard of Oz. Fun!
