Green Room - Week 7 - Day 8

I haven’t read it yet, but I did receive my copy of the Fae Fatales anthology from our friends at Solarwyrm Press http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20?_encoding=UTF8&node=23 and had the chance to flip through it. It looks gorgeous. Granted, it would have looked better with a large font dedication to me and/or Idol that covered the first half of the book. But really, what book *wouldn’t* be better with that? ;)

Even with that noticeable flaw though, it looks like it’s well worth you checking out, and supporting your fellow Idol contestants. The vast majority of people featured in the anthology came through this hallowed institution, which is always exciting!

Oh, and I *am* a week or so away from putting together a list for the new Community Chest, so maybe someone will want to get some copies for that! ;) Just saying!

Seriously though, good job Solarwyrm!

Which means it’s that time again for you to make the case for your favorite entries from the week that aren’t getting as much attention as you would like. Voting turnout still hasn’t exploded – probably due to the summer – which means that every vote you can sway could make the difference! If you have read something fantastic – tell people about it! Not a “go vote for them, just ‘cause!” But let them know why they should bother to read it, convince them to go to read, and let the work itself convince them to take the next step and vote to keep them in another week!

It's been some time since I was in the Green Room, and now it's time for bed. Oh well. Just enough time to wish everyone well. I went on a huge long walk with my significant other today, and now my legs ache. BUT! We have banana cake in the fridge and I had a nap this afternoon. Life is pretty good.

Gary, did I read right that you need a root canal? Ouch. I'm so sorry... dental work is one of those things I hate most, so I feel your pain. I went to the dentist recently and she told me I needed fillings pretty urgently, so as a result I am putting off going back...

From the first poll: banyangirl1832's powerful entry definitely deserves more love! And I really liked streetnights' story - it's scifi but very applicable to modern life as well. There are plenty of other great entries in there, but those are the two who really need more love.

I got maybe three hours of sleep last night, and I'm going through and leaving comments for folks now (I finished voting yesterday). Which is to say, uh, I'm really sorry if I am incoherent. Also, maybe I should have done this earlier. Like, at three this morning, perhaps, since I was awake. Sigh. Anyway! I'm gonna just throw some names out here...

- I really enjoyed joyfulfeather's story this week.
- m1ss1ngcupcake made me cry.
- waveform_delta's entry made me giggle rather a lot.
- porn_this_way's rants are epic and awesome and this one is no exception.
- I cannot recommend recklessblues's entry strongly enough. I mean, it's just that good. For real. Actual quote from my spreadsheet notes: "holy WOW that was good"
- streetnights wrote a bit of fiction that I loved a lot, and I think you will too. It's not just sci-fi, it's a damn good story and well told to boot.

And that's rather a lot, though I could say more about more things. There's a lot of good stuff out there this week. Which I should go comment on, before maybe crawling back into bed for a nap while the thunder prowls around the house and rain makes me sleepier.

I was so excited to drop the kiddos off at preschool this morning. 2 1/2 hours to myself! I got home, grabbed breakfast, sat down at my desk and promptly fell asleep. My neck wasn't very happy with me. I slept through the whole me time. *sigh* Maybe I will test out the ankle and see if I can't get some exercise in.
