I usually don't do this - but considering that I'm as busy as a Paula Deen apologist trying to deflect the blame to rappers and Obama - I figured "why not make things a little more interesting?"

Yes, that's right. Looking at the number of votes, and the amount of outstanding ballots, I'm prepared to declare some people "safe" from elimination this week. I couldn't have even done this yesterday, but a bit of a gap opened up, that I feel is going to hold, and even if it doesn't, there isn't enough votes out there to all fall in such a way as to eliminate these people.

So, the folks who will be able to rest the remainder of the day knowing that they aren't going home - and who will have to deal with the stares and the mutterings of the rest of you, are

cheshire23, halfshellvenus, malruniel11, meepalicious, mythingperson, poppetawoppet, porn_this_way, the_lettersea, whipchick, xo_kizzy_xo

In other words, 1/5 of the remaining field. There are a few people knocking on that door. Maybe it's you.

!!! When I got the notification e-mail as I was walking out the door to work just now, my heart sank and I was sure I'd gotten my AM/PM mixed up on the due date for votes. So glad I checked so I didn't spend the day down in the dumps for nothing!

Now to spend the day hoping and nervously waiting to hear of the fate of everyone else. Oddly, this hasn't changed the nerves. I don't want anyone to go!!

So much is going to depend on where the line gets drawn according to the votes - if the suggested lower limit of 4 go home, we may be safe. If the upper limit of 8 go home, maybe not. It ain't over until it's over!

Nice twist, Gary! I wonder how this will affect the people who haven't voted yet. There's no reason for them to vote for these people (though obviously they can), so they might wind up voting for a few people who'd otherwise have fallen off their lists. Could definitely have an impact on the votes people get!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's like on election night when the media says, "X has won" before California stops voting, so the other issues on the ballot that are more likely to be voted for by "X's" supporters suffer because people don't bother going to stand in line for some school tax or whatever.

That's fully 1/3 of the list a person would vote for, so that's ten slots people would be shifted which means the people on the border will be affected by the fact that this announcement was made at all.

I think I voted for most of those folks, so that doesn't surprise me! I think kathrynrose and thegrimms deserve to be up there too - I was extremely impressed with both of their entries this week!

Contestant Only votes always worry me - I hate not knowing how I'm doing in the poll, it's always nice to know "Hey, I'm firmly in the middle of the pack, phew!" or whatever.

Well, to me anyway...

I always hear "I'm going to be eliminated this week". Sometimes the person is right. Sometimes they are *really* wrong.

But it's not the same person every week. Which means it can't just be one person's insecurities popping up and being vocalized. Or, maybe you just take turns. ;)

So, for YOU, when you say something like that - is it insecurity about putting something "out there", or is it usually "I have problems with this entry, and assume other people will have them as well/a feeling that it doesn't "stack up" with the rest of the entries out there?

for me, it's a definite "every week/self esteem/don't feel like I've done enough networking/spent enough time in the GR/ not in the in-crowed,/should have spent more time on it" thing, but it's EVERY week, because life is so busy and often I find myself thinking I should just have dropped out this week, but I'd like to not ever drop out of my own doing because I doubt life for me will ever be less busy, and giving up before I start isn't really my style... HOWEVER, I do always wish I could do better in all of the areas listed above.

I hope to finish up my reading and get my vote turned in by the deadline. I've been on vicodin to deal with the pain, which has in turn triggered nausea. Seriously, I don't get why people like that stuff so much, it just makes me seasick.

So yeah, it's been a hard weekend, and today, I hope copious amounts of ibuprofen will be enough.

FWIW, there are some on your list that are good, but I really liked m1ss1ngcupcake's entry, and it needs more praise.

I did read this GR post before voting but still sent in my Top 30 the way I'd planned, because if I'd removed the people on the "safe" list from my 30 votes, that would have made the cut-off more arbitrary. As it worked out, all the people I voted for fell into the "A" and "B" range, according to my personal grading system.
