I usually don't do this - but considering that I'm as busy as a Paula Deen apologist trying to deflect the blame to rappers and Obama - I figured "why not make things a little more interesting?"

Yes, that's right. Looking at the number of votes, and the amount of outstanding ballots, I'm prepared to declare some people "safe" from elimination this week. I couldn't have even done this yesterday, but a bit of a gap opened up, that I feel is going to hold, and even if it doesn't, there isn't enough votes out there to all fall in such a way as to eliminate these people.

So, the folks who will be able to rest the remainder of the day knowing that they aren't going home - and who will have to deal with the stares and the mutterings of the rest of you, are

cheshire23, halfshellvenus, malruniel11, meepalicious, mythingperson, poppetawoppet, porn_this_way, the_lettersea, whipchick, xo_kizzy_xo

In other words, 1/5 of the remaining field. There are a few people knocking on that door. Maybe it's you.

!!! When I got the notification e-mail as I was walking out the door to work just now, my heart sank and I was sure I'd gotten my AM/PM mixed up on the due date for votes. So glad I checked so I didn't spend the day down in the dumps for nothing!

Now to spend the day hoping and nervously waiting to hear of the fate of everyone else. Oddly, this hasn't changed the nerves. I don't want anyone to go!!

Nice twist, Gary! I wonder how this will affect the people who haven't voted yet. There's no reason for them to vote for these people (though obviously they can), so they might wind up voting for a few people who'd otherwise have fallen off their lists. Could definitely have an impact on the votes people get!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's like on election night when the media says, "X has won" before California stops voting, so the other issues on the ballot that are more likely to be voted for by "X's" supporters suffer because people don't bother going to stand in line for some school tax or whatever.

That's fully 1/3 of the list a person would vote for, so that's ten slots people would be shifted which means the people on the border will be affected by the fact that this announcement was made at all.

I've already had three cups of coffee. If I have any more I'm going to be clinging to the ceiling!

I'm blaming the humidity instead :p Seriously, both SO and I have been in molasses mode because the A/C either needs recharging or it's pooping out, given its age. It's been one of those weeks where one of us asks something, and it takes a good minute or so for the other one to reply "Huh?"

Either that or sleep deprivation because of it :p

The heat has been horrible here the past week or so. We're having a real break from it today, though, and I think I may sleep the entire day. The cats are happy, too. They hadn't been eating much in the heat, and this morning they were all assaulting me for cat food.

We're supposed to be getting thunderstorms all week, but now they're saying that we probably won't be getting them until tomorrow. Mind you, they've been exhorting this thunderstorm stuff since last week, so I'm not holding my breath.

The heat hasn't seemed to affect the Kidz' appetites. I've been feeding them smaller portions, though.

I think I voted for most of those folks, so that doesn't surprise me! I think kathrynrose and thegrimms deserve to be up there too - I was extremely impressed with both of their entries this week!

Contestant Only votes always worry me - I hate not knowing how I'm doing in the poll, it's always nice to know "Hey, I'm firmly in the middle of the pack, phew!" or whatever.

So much is going to depend on where the line gets drawn according to the votes - if the suggested lower limit of 4 go home, we may be safe. If the upper limit of 8 go home, maybe not. It ain't over until it's over!

I sent in my votes around 1:00 this morning! I was determined to get everything finished and sent off before bed. The hard part was narrowing my list from 37 down to 30... ugh!

I always love contestant only votes for this reason. I don't have a poll so I can't flip out about where I'm in it. I'm actually kinda relaxed right now, even if I'm not on the "really safe" list.
