I did something “Important” last night. No, I didn’t propose. That was Sunday. No, I didn’t put up the poll http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/659933.html well, OK, I DID put up the poll, but that wasn’t what I was talking about!

I finally finished watching the new season of Arrested Development! And yes, it was awesome.

As for you, I assume you spent the evening reading entries and starting to vote for your favorites! What have you seen, so far, that has particularly struck your fancy? What have you seen that has specifically struck your copy of Cat Fancy?

I hope the answer to your proposal was "yes".

Last week was mostly non-fiction, and now with the intersections we're back to fiction! :) Which I like, so there.

I'm probably (okay, no probably about it) biased here because hey, I wouldn't mind writing a book of intersections with [livejournal.com profile] lrig_rorrim, but I quite liked her and [livejournal.com profile] thegrimms's entries. It's an old familiar tale, but they tell it beautifully and with tender emotions. :)

I'm not done reading yet, but overall I think I'm going to vote for a lot more people this week than I did last week. There's some good stuff out there. :)

From the comments and/or the lack of them I've received, I kind of think people might see my fluffy little unicorn story as anti-climactic after last week's blood and thunder non-fiction. Oh well. I'm still happy with it, and it was still fun, and I still like the idea of comedic relief after that entry and also showing my range and variety of styles, so THERE! ;)

I finished uploading yesterday's pics and tours yesteday, so I'm at work with nothing to do but wait for today's schedule. Trying to reply to comments on my personal entries. Ugh, it's hard. Stupid social anxiety.

Showing a range of writing style is good, in my opinion. :) I know that in season 9 I'll be bouncing around a lot. While I'm having fun with my alt, I really don't think I can stick to the same thing for much longer. It was nice to write a different voice, for example. :)

I started reading entries yesterday was was happy to find some excellent quality again. Need to read some more today and reply to the comments I've gotten so far.

This week I actually got a couple rounds of beta help, which was pretty cool for me. I don't always end up with time to go through a couple rounds of editing/refining. I also got help from people I hadn't really worked with in the past, which was nice. I've been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone this season, and that was a great way to do so.

This morning I am having my coffee with a cardamom pod in it. I'm going to drink it, spend a little time outside on this gorgeous day (with plenty of sunscreen and/or protective clothing), and run some errands.

Yay for getting out of one's comfort zone! :)

I don't really do the beta thing much myself. I show the draft to some friends as I write it, and they say it's awesome, and that's pretty much it. I write way too slow to have time for massive editing like I did on the story I submitted to the Ploughshares contest in Idol's timeframe.

Yay for being outside and stuff! :) My job is driving around taking pictures of houses, so I'll get to be out and about too here soon. :)

I need to start reading entries.

I have been in this weird "exploring myself as a writer" phase which is starting to feel like mental masturbation. I'm reading and writing about writing and getting crit and giving it, but how much actual writing am I doing?

Gah.

I haven't started reading yet - looking forward to diving in tonight!

Being in the "sudden death" group is intimidating! I can't bring myself to look at the current results.

Last night was the kickoff class for my final project of my Master's program. I have to submit a project idea to the professor sometime this week. Eek! It's exciting but kind of scary, too.

Started to read entries last night and am really happy about what I've found so far! I really wanted to make my entry longer, but I was worried about making it TOO long, and I think that anxiety bit me in the butt a little. Lesson: write what I want, not what I think my readers will like. :-)

That's always a good thing to remember. :) Still though, I think yours was good, and like I said in the comments - if you're not actually from the area, then you're pretty darn good at writing the culture, and I give you my blessing.

Hello GR!

I have read a few entries so far... my plan was to have read a lot more by this point, but I was busy editing mine in conjunction with my intersection partner this week, plus, you know, that crazy thing called my job kept getting in my way! ;-)

I'm going to try to get to some more today!

I've only read about a dozen or so entries, so I'm going to wait on reporting back until I've read more, but I'm also happy with the commentary I've received on my own entry, because it's nice when folks like what you've put out into the ether, you know? :)

My cat is currently sleeping on my copy of Cat Fancy. Well, okay - I don't have a copy of Cat Fancy, but if I did, I know that one of my four would be sleeping on top of it, because that's what cats DO. =)

I've been refereeing doggie dominance tournaments since yesterday. We thought Ember made her point succinctly last night by nipping Max on the nose, but no, right now they're at it again. My guess is that when he gets the hint, she'll stand and conquer him like she did to Jack and everything will be right with the world.

Also, Max will not eat any kind of dog food, no matter how you doctor it. We think he must have either been given people scraps of he had a homemade diet because kibble is abhorrent to him. Ditto the minimally-processed wet food. He also doesn't care for treats :boggle:

Have you tried him on a BARF diet? It's expensive and time consuming until you get the hang of making it, but so good for the pups.

I read quite a few entries last night and was rather tired so towards the end my comments may have sounded a bit strange.

Reading some entries last night made me really nervous as well and I do worried if I went in the right direction with mine but oh well. ;)

Well
I was waiting while one of my children was talking to a therapist flipping threw an old consumer report magazine and saw a thing on note pads. A quick look at the list showed that two got the cr best buy mark. Which two? The kindle fire and the nook. Consumer reports gave there best buys for note pads too the two that are enhanced e-readers.
There is humor in that.

I'm trying to decide whether to rewatch all 3 seasons of Arrested Development before the new season, or just to dive in. The downside is that my husband won't remember much of anything about the series if we DON'T rewatch. But since I signed up for Netflix streaming again JUST FOR AR, I'll be watching one way or the other.

Just barely read a few of the entries, but I do want to say that much as the entire concept of Intersections pains me, I had a blast working with [livejournal.com profile] porn_this_way. It was awesome!

From: [identity profile] lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com
For what it's worth, I don't think rewatching the episodes would add that much to the new season. There's plenty of call backs to the old material, of course, but they use footage of the show pretty well, and the jokes are more reminders of what was than things you need to know to understand what's going on.

I watch the last two episodes of Arrested Development tonight with a sweetie! We had a binge watching party on Sunday, but just couldn't quite make it through them all.

I've spent the day reading entries, discussing feminism and Doctor Who on twitter, and reading nifty things on metafilter. It's been a very internetty kind of day.

I had lots of reading planned, but then I went and heat stroke and collapsed as soon as I got home. I got up early this morning, but that was to write a proposal which is due 11.59 Aus time tonight. Let's just say it is not finished, and I am writing this comment instead of writing my proposal. I am a fool.

First of all, congratulations on the proposal. The ring pic was very cool.

Second, does it get better as it goes on? I've only watched the first episode this season, but I was a little confused. Some folks are saying it starts slow but improves.

As for me, I usually don't vote until I've read all the entries. I'm also helping a bff pick a wedding gown, so reading is limited to night time after the daughter has gone to bed.
