Happy Black Friday.

I was able to get out last night. Yes, I was one of those "people shopping on Thanksgiving". The best part? I didn't even buy anything! I just like that moment when the pallets are opened and everything goes crazy!

I know, you're surprised! ;)

***
The bad part of the evening came when I found out that my Grandfather had passed away earlier in the day.

We hadn't been close in years, and he has been in a lot of pain for the last few years. But it doesn't make it any easier to wrap my head around the fact that he is gone.

Tell the people that you love how much you love them. As often as you can.

***

We have a poll going on. So, I guess tell the entries you love how much you love them, with votes. http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/500732.html

Yeah, that doesn't really fit - but it was going to be an awkward transition regardless of which way I went with it!

Hope you are having a great day!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. It is hard becoming the elders of the clan. <3

And, yes tell the people in your life how much you love them and SHOW THEM how much you love them, also! Love resides in the small and the large places.

Sorry about your grandpa. That is sad.

Not much going on here, some relaxing, some school work, and some eating of left overs.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your grandpa. I agree... People need to tell those they love them as often as they can. It's something that absolutely terrifies me to think of... but what if someone I love died without ever knowing? What if something ever happened to me and I never told them?

It's something people don't like to think about, but anything can happen to anyone at any time. We never know how long we have with a particular person.

I often think too much about this particular thing though thanks to seeing way too many people die in my lifetime.

I hope everyone enjoyed time with their loved ones for the holidays (if they celebrate it). I had a wonderful day with [livejournal.com profile] java_fiend and his family.

Sorry about your grandfather, Gary. It's hard to lose people in our lives that have always been there, even if you're not very close.

I'm running around today cleaning the house in a frenzy for our 12th annual Friendsgiving party tomorrow. We prepare some of the food, and everyone bring a dish, drink or dessert. Good friends, good times! But lots of prep work.

Hope everyone is having as fantastic a holiday weekend as possible! You know, if you're celebrating and stuff :)

Good early afternoon everyone.

Gary, my sincere condolences! Losing a family member is never easy.

Thanksgiving here went well yesterday, and involved everyone getting into the act and helping out in the kitchen. When the food was finally served, every dish was pronounced a success. Today, none of us are going anywhere near a store.

As I promised earlier, here are my recommendations (http://muchtooarrogant.livejournal.com/106511.html) for Week Five. They were hard to pick because there's so much good stuff out there, but these were my favorites.

Enjoy, and I hope everybody has a great weekend!

Dan

So sorry to hear about your grandfather. I fell very fortunate to have been able to spend this Thanksgiving with both my parents, as it will probably be my dad's last. He's not doing so well at the moment, but we had a very nice day together yesterday.

I saw the news about your Grandpa on FB. You have my sympathies, Gary. All of my grandfolks have been gone for several years now, so I know how it is. *hugs*

I was almost second, but then I got called back to get labwork done, so couldn't comment. Ah well. On the one hand, the first tech thought she'd have to get the blood from my hand, so she passed me off to her coworker, who was able to actually find the vein in my elbow, on the first try. Heh. I warned them both that they always need to use the butterfly needle (the tiny one) and at least they listened. The bad news is that I've gained about 10 lbs in the last four months. Argh.

I've never been to France, but one of these days I hope to! Whereabouts in France do they live?

We've got a Paris here in Kentucky, but it's nowhere near the same, lol!

Paris, KY and Paris France are nothing alike? Shocking! :P

When we would drive back and forth from South Carolina, I remember seeing a town called Cairo... I used to joke that it was like being in Egypt! I can't remember if that was KY though... or somewhere else... I think maybe Illinois.

I always need them to use the butterfly needles too and they rarely listen. They poke and prod for a good long time before saying "Umm maybe you were right?"

Duh. I know my body well enough. I get enough bloodwork done to know exactly where to get the perfect vein too. I could do it myself probably :P

I have gained about 8 pounds in the last few months. *sad face* It's the holidays now too, so not a good time to lose those 8 pounds (plus the other 15 I had gained since my divorce).

Oh that icon... That is so fitting for me. I gained some weight because I am happily dating and we always snack :D

I didn't go Black Friday shopping. I chose to not skip Thanksgiving in favor of shopping for stuff I don't need. I went last year with my mom when it was still at 4 AM and I didn't buy anything, I just got in a very bad mood and started hating on people.

I also chose to sleep in until 9 today, wake up with leftovers and chai tea and then nap alongside my giant dog and cat for another hour before getting up shortly before noon. I love days off :)

But for those who did go into the madness... What did you buy me? :D

Or more likely... what did you buy yourselves? Anything good?

You know, if medical personnel are going to interfere with your Idol posting like that, the very least they should do is refund half your copay.

Here in Iowa we have Paris and Rome at least, and down in Missouri they have Milan and Versailles (both of which are horribly mispronounced. I mean horribly.)

Pinup Girl Clothing had a 30% sale so I got some swimmers and a dress. Postage to Aus is a killer though ;_;

and I have been doing Christmas shopping! Giant Buttons! Silk Scarves! Bento Accessories! Manga! (ok, those last two are for me ^_^)

I'm from Missouri originally, lived there most of my life... and I took 4 years of French in high school so I was always annoyed at how they pronounced Versailles! I used to pronounce it the right way anyway and people would look at me like I was the freak!
