Last night, I went to the premiere of Color Me Obsessed the documentary about the Replacements. It was good, if you love the band you should definitely check it out. If you don't love the band you should definitely check yourself in somewhere. :)

The director was there for a Q&A and the question came up about why he there were no interviews with band members and none of their music. His response was that he wanted to invoke their presence through the words of others. That in order to capture them as something other than a VH1 special, that seeing them through that filter was the way to go.

It's always interesting to hear why people decide to show certain things while leaving others up to the imagination. I'm sure you have plenty of personal examples from your own work. :)

Being second is nothing to sneeze at. And you would have been first had I not switched over to my Friends Page ;)

:tosses confetti on herself:

Alas, no brunch for me, as I had breakfast for dinner last night and breakfast again at...well, breakfast time :D

This afternoon: A combination of errand-running, dog walking, Idol writing, and culling through Things No Longer Needed in one of the rooms upstairs.

Back to work tomorrow :p

One can only hope that any 'Mats documentary includes the famous "we're sorry, Portland" incident.

In other news, this is my last day of spring break, and that is making me SAD. I'd like to not go back to work again. I think I'm going to be a very successful retired person, if I win the lottery.

Hi, I'm one of the producers of Color Me Obsessed. I just wanted to say thank you for posting about us and that I'm glad you liked the film.

Good morning GR! [livejournal.com profile] java_fiend and I just woke up. I'm still in bed as he walks Annabelle since he's sweet like that! It'll be a morning of cinnamon rolls, coffee and entry writing probably. I nice way to spend a Sunday if you ask me :)

We went on a ghost tour of old town Orange, CA last night. It was dorky and fun. I love ghost stuff as you could tell from my entry last week. My best entry idea this week is a really awesome true ghost story as well, but not sure if I should do it so soon after another ghost story...but it fits the topic perfectly! I even have a picture that should give any person (believer or not) the creeps!

As far as "what to show and what to leave out", my entry for "It's a Trap" (http://cheshire23.livejournal.com/535429.html) is still one I keep thinking about in that regard.

The married-with-kids, nice suburban life narrator is falling in love with another woman. What I chose to leave ambiguous in the piece itself (and only after considerable thought decided to reveal/acknowledge in comments) is that the narrator is female. There is a small bit near the end where if you're particularly sensitive to the issue you might pick up on it, but that's really all.

I'm still not sure what I think about my decision to write it that way. On the one hand, I wanted to make the experience as universal and accessible as I could, but on the other hand, there's a part of me that felt even at the time (and more so with thought) that it was also dishonest and erasing of the character's identity, and that I could have done more with exploring the pressures to be a "good" married lesbian.

Yeah. ALL OVER the map on this one.

I am tired. The time change has SCREWED MY BODY CLOCK.

Although, mostly tired because I drank a whole bunch of wine with my Sunday Lunch.

I have a really hard time deciding what to keep in. Especially with the serial thing I have running right now, since that's a new experience altogether.

As for my weekend it's pretty much been about the Les Mis 25th Anniversary concert. ENJOLRAS FOREVER. THAT IS ALL.

Claudia had a bunch of her filipino friends over for a lunch/dinner party...all I can say is too much food.

It's the first time Carrie and Claudia has entertained since we've bought this house...

It was a success...

Still recovering though

Old Town orange's pretty neat, especially the circle (Carrie's hometown is Orange but the other side of the city)...

It's a bit weird seeing all of these writers saying OH BY THE WAY I'M AN ALT.

*shrugs* That's all I got.

I ran a half-marathon this morning and now I'm at work. I think that may have been bad planning. Especially since when I stand up again in an hour I'm going to be moving like I'm twice my age.

In other news after 22 days of rain this month things might finally be clearing up.

It has been years since I saw the play or listened to the recording with any regularity, and even longer since I read the book, but OH MAN, AM I ALL ATWITTER ABOUT THE WHOLE THING RIGHT NOW.

Oh good -- I'm so glad! Right now we've got the movie playing in a bunch of film festivals, and from there we hope to get a distribution deal (either theatrical or on DVD or both). If you're interested, you can see where else it's playing, see the press we've gotten and follow other news at our blog -- http://cmomovie.wordpress.com/ -- or our website -- http://www.whatwerewethinkingfilms.com/colormeobsessed/
