How was your holiday? Are you still on it until the New Year?
Are you still on it until Chinese New Year?
Are you ever planning on coming off holiday, you lazy bum?
Fortunately for people who don't want to take a writing holiday, the Free Topics are still up until tonight. http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/404754.html
What happens then??? Oh, you don't want to know. . . *cue dramatic music*. Well, OK, you probably do. But am I really going to tell you? Yeah, I didn't think so either!!

Date: 2010-12-27 01:36 pm (UTC)I don't know how much is out there, but it's enough for Jack Dog to nearly disappear when he steps off the back porch...

Date: 2010-12-27 01:40 pm (UTC)It's CHILLY! I know, not as bad as those up north, but since we were in the 70s over the weekend, to suddenly be at 32 in the morning is a bit of shock. I'm wearing flannel PJ pants since they're warmer than jeans right now. Gotta love being your own boss sometimes.

Date: 2010-12-27 02:03 pm (UTC)On the bright side, my older son turns two today. I can't believe it. He's getting so big! We had a small party for him yesterday, and he LOVED his presents, which was good because he only got a couple of things. I bought him a soft set of Handy Manny's tool set and he spent most of the night taking the tools in and out of their box.
I'm not sure if hubby will make it home tonight, but we have plenty of milk and food in the fridge, though I may need to cook.

Good News / Bad News
Date: 2010-12-27 03:01 pm (UTC)THE BAD: I got nothing for Xmas this year. Really.
Y'see, about 20 years ago my family decided to start a "Secret Santa" tradition -- Everybody throws their name in a hat, everybody then pulls one name out of the hat, and they only need to buy one gift for that one person. (I've got no "Significant Other / Life Partner", much less any kids of my own, so it's not like anybody else is going to buy anything for me.)
The person who drew my name asked me what I wanted/needed, and I said I could use a new shirt to wear at the office. The problem is that (a) I'm a "Big and Tall" guy, (b) the person who drew my name doesn't live near any "Big and Tall" stores, so (c) they couldn't find a shirt in my size.
So at the family gathering, my Secret Santa tells me with great embarrassment that they couldn't get me a shirt... but couldn't figure out what else I would want.
Well, I was congenial and understanding, and told this person about a "Big and Tall" shop that I visit, and they could send me a gift certificate for the place. That's probably what they'll do.
But I've gotta tell ya: Even if you're a 47-year-old atheist who has given up on "The Season of Miracles", discovering that there isn't a single present under the tree with your name on it... kinda bites.

Date: 2010-12-27 03:07 pm (UTC)My husband didn't get anything from his Secret Santa either. "Lack of time" was the given excuse, but I think finances had a bigger part of it.
