Here we are at the end of an emotional week, and at a point where we are facing the *third* reward/special vote. I had hoped to avoid this one, but since I said this would happen for the third reward, that's where it is going to fall.

When I came up with this idea, it was too late in last season to use it properly. Now though, there are more than enough people for folks to learn to hate me/it!!!

OR, love the idea.

It all depends on where you are in the pecking order.

This reward is all about strategy. It's a little thing I like to call TOPSY TURVEY

You will have the power to — one time only — completely flip the results upside down. Or to put it plainly, you will make the person with the most votes have the fewest, and the fewest the most.

I don't have to tell you what this could do. Maybe I do though . . . you could have the fewest votes and win a reward. You could have the most votes, have someone use this power, and be voted out!!

It's the ultimate in power balancing against the all-powerful large friends base.

It's good until the top 25, and its existence is going to shake things up.

As with the other voting this week, this is too personal and important to leave it open to the general public. This poll is open only to community members. If you aren't a member, join now to take part of this special vote, which could potentially turn the whole season upside-down!

Voting will remain open until Monday Feb 12th at 4 PM EST (GMT -5) and if we need a run-off there will be one . . .

Good luck!!!*G*

How come I'm seeing results but unable to take part in the poll? Am I banned? Is the poll already over? I didn't get to vote.

You have to join the community to vote this time.

It seems like it used to always work, though. New rules?

So does this mean whoever wins this round gets the topsy-turvy power, or what?

I'll plead here, too, in case anyone is watching this thread. Go vote to keep me in? Please? I promise I'll be more exciting (and punctual) from here on out!

I just have to say that I'm totally scandalized by the power of Topsy Turvy. Just utterly unnerved, fearful, and eager to see how it plays out.

...
...

I'm gonna go do something away from the compy now.

Cracking! I came bottom last week, so what evil havoc could I wreak?

I don't mind being somewhere in the middle in terms of the number of votes I receive, but right now I am too close to the bottom to be comfortable.

I mean, I used the fictional angle for this one, as my mistakes in real life would just get lost in the shuffle. I try to stand out in some way every round. I don't know how many of you are reading my entry, but I hope those of you who did were at least entertained.

By the by, my housemates read the entry on my personal journal and I wondered aloud last night about where dreams like this come from. I was told there were cats making a huge racket outside the house while I was asleep, but that doesn't explain the rat-beavers.

*ahem*

Anyway,...just how many votes are we allowed to give? Three, was it?

Works for me now, thank you! :D

We're only allowed to vote for three people? Wow, I sure hope not because I voted for like 20 last time.

Seriously. I always vote for at least umpteen people.

Only umpteen? I never figured you for the stingy type. :D

I admit I usually end up voting for about a third to a half of the entries at this point. As time goes on, it'll narrow down quick to just a few. At this point I don't have the memory and attention span to read 60+ entries, attach entries to names, and then rank them in my head to correctly give out just a few votes.

Oh!!

Really?!?! I'm glad you spoke up! I thought we could only vote for one person per ballot box. You know, the way it is when you actually vote in local elections. "Oh, I voted for ALL the congresscritter candidates." (GRIN)

And y'know, that makes it even MORE depressing how few votes I get. I mean, I know I don't have lots and lots of readers, but I do read all the entries before I go vote. I keep track of whose entries I think are great in a Notepad file. Perhaps I am just too organized. (Nah!! Not if you saw my office)

I don't really mean vote for me to get this superpower. I don't want such a power. I meant, to stay in the competition.

But anyway, maybe I will go back and vote for more people!

*grin* I am actually at the bottom now with 5 votes. I thought that was depressing enough even before I learned (later on in this comment thread) that we could vote for more than one person per ballot-box list. That means they are reading my entries (or not) and still ignoring me. Ah, well--that's typical for me in any crowd. I have an audience to whom I appeal, but that audience is not by and large the "general reading public," alas. Or not alas, depending on your POV. I happen to think "different strokes for different folks" is a good motto, so it's OK with me. I was just surprised that people who like journals aren't really into mine.

Still, it's OK. So be it. So it goes. Poo-tee-weet?

I have a lot of free time during the day, so I tend to read the entries a few at a time and note down in a spreadsheet which ones I want to vote for. It's a nice system for me because this way I know who I've voted for in which weeks, and I can figure out which folks I've voted for repeatedly. I've noticed that I've voted for fewer people in each special election so far. I started by voting for 20 people, then voted for 18, and this time I only voted for 14. Apparently I'm getting more particular!

That is a useful thing to know. I did not KNOW that. How many of you knew that? (show of hands) I didn't think too many people paid that much attention--they just see "ticky box" and think "ticky box." (GRIN)

That's cool. I like finding out stuff like this.

I'd have to check my votes, but I'm pretty sure I'm one of the five that voted for your story. ^_^
